Never EVER get behind a panel being used to unstick a vehicle like that. My brother got stuck in a big box truck once and I used a panel just like that to try and unstick it. The truck eventually got traction on the panel but the panel lost traction with the ground so it flew out the back of the truck at 40 or 50 mph. It hit my shed and busted into pieces. I was lucky I thought about that before trying to push the truck, the panel could have cut me in half.

A couple things I've learned over 74 years: 1. Nothing is easy. 2. If it's easy ya better stop and take another look...somethin ain't right. I built my house on a hill in earthquake country so my footings were with lots of rebar, 4 feet deep and 2 feet wide around the exterior, 2 feet deep and 1 foot wide for all interior walls, bearing or not, 1/2" rebar in 18" grids plus weldwire mesh throughout the 5" deep slab. If that house ever slides downhill it's going to be in one piece.

Them MS250s are great saws. Bought one at a yard sale for $10 cause the owner left it outside for about a year. The plastics turned white and the bar and chain were rusted solid. Replaced the rusted away muffler, threw a cheap carb kit on it (Had no idea if it would ever run again) and it is now one of my best saws. cranks up in the first 2 or 3 pulls every time. And I was able to get the color back in the plastics by soaking them in armorall.

Worse yet is people that move out in the country on 5-10 acres and do absolutely nothing to maintain their property. Use the excuse they want their property to have the “NATURAL LOOK!” Property taken over by blackberry vines and other brush and weeds that of course spread on to their neighbors property to have to deal with too! Makes way more work for their neighbors to deal with!

You should of used all that brush you cut up and laid it out on the ground where you needed to drive at. That brush would of gave you the traction you needed to get where you needed to go. Not to mention, don’t forget momentum is your friend in these cases. Faster your able to get moving and keep that momentum up the less traction your going to need. Momentum will make a huge difference too! I’ve seen people slide right off a off camber icy road cause they didn’t get their momentum up going up a slight incline and lost traction and off into the ditch they went. I went up the same incline twice as fast and let the momentum take me to the top of the incline without loosing any traction. Going too slow on slippery surfaces is you’re enemy just as going too fast can be your enemy too! You got to be able to judge the correct speed and don’t panic either. Never slam on your brakes, loose traction slightly let off the gas! If you misjudged your speed and loose momentum and have to stop on a off camber road. You’ll have to learn how to back down the hill slightly breaking and letting back off your brakes while you’re steering wheels are slightly turned towards the upper off camber . When you slightly brake you’ll slide towards the ditch, but letting off the brakes with your wheels slightly turned your vehicle will roll backwards towards the center of the road again. Just have to slightly pump the brakes off and on to stay on the road till you get to the bottom of the hill. You may end up rolling backwards a little faster then what’s comfortable for you? But again don’t panic! Control your speed rolling backwards as best you can without sliding off into the ditch. Rolling faster backwards down the hill to stay on the road better then going in the ditch. Provided there’s no object in your way at the bottom of the hill? Objects or other vehicles in your way may be difficult to avoid? But you’ll still have better control where your vehicle goes by not locking up your brakes. Long as you’re tired are moving on their own power you can still steer your vehicle slightly in whatever directions you need to go. This does take practice to get efficient with driving on slippery surfaces! I’ve been driving in icy conditions since I was 15 years old and now 65 years old I have a lot of practice playing up in the mountains on the icy roads as well as the snow. Icy roads are far more challenging though! Took a guy up into the mountains that had started to slide off into the ditch. Fortunately he stopped before getting too far off the road. But was scared and lost how to save his vehicle from going off in not a steep ditch. He freaked out when I told him to turn his steering wheels towards the ditch and put the vehicle in reverse. Then hit the gas! When he did hit the gas with the wheels turned towards the ditch it threw the back end of his vehicle up back on the road and then he was able to straighten out his steering wheels to keep backing up into the center of the road again all on his own power. Sometimes what seems like the wrong thing to do is exactly what you need to do to save yourself! Where lots of experience comes in handy and avoiding panic!

The Stihl saw seemed to work great. I actually prefer Echo stuff because we have 10 small motor repair places here in town and they all work on Echo stuff but there is only one Stihl guy and he is about 30 miles away. It helps a lot to get good equipment first because I struggled with some Troy Bilt and Craftsman stuff for lawn care for over 10 years and I finally scrapped it all and went with Echo on almost everything I use I could not be happier. Chainsaw, Edgers, Pole Saw, and String Trimmers. The funny thing is that we have two properties and a lot to maintain and my garage looks like a lawn care business. Great video.

The pin through the loop of the hitch is a good idea. I'm feeling you on the getting stuck in the mud though. My yard has soil like that. Another trick when using the rope is to set up some sort of pulley (sometimes attached to the back of a truck) that you can put the rope through to give more leverage. The guys who trimmed my 400yr old oak tree did that. They also had a winch on their truck that they used for pulling. It would be nice to save some of that wood to use in some sort of project, but firewood is still making it useful. Looks like oak to me so it would be good for something other than firewood too.

A lady I worked for awhile ago would always do that for me. Especially when we were using my ol big xl.

That a boy if your going to do it do it right the first time !!! When I bought my home for my family about 12 years ago now the man I bought it from was a flipper and he had put lipstick on a pig. Long story short I had to do it right the first I tried. And now we have a beautiful home to live in after all these years. Also when your no long here the people after you will be able to enjoy the great work you put in all those years ago.

Can tell you guys have lifted a huge weight by finally moving. Glad to see Rad back! Also glad you got professional help with the chainsawing. When you said "i've always wanted to own one of these" i got worried. My family's logged for half a century and it's always the newbies who get hurt. Glad to see you kept it safe and did your research. I got hooked on your channel because it features someone super experienced who's not afraid to ask questions and show their mistakes (aka learning experiences). Looking forward to following you through the whole build!
Awesome video! It is always a blast getting a new power tool. It was great to see Rad too, I am glad the 3 of you are tackling the house together. Can't wait to see more of the yard get cleaned up and ready for the build.
Man, chilling around that fire pit having some brews must have been the *best* way to settle in to the start of this project. Enjoy fellas, stay safe, good luck, and can't wait to follow along on this trip!
You guys made that look easy and even a little bit fun. Can't wait to watch this project evolve.
I love how you your son and son in law all moved close together. I hope rad knows how cool that is to have a father in law tak you under his wing like that awesome.
I’d recommend getting a pair of chainsaw chaps when felling trees or large branches.. they’ll protect your legs from getting horribly injured if you slip when using the chainsaw. 😊

That Stihl Chainsaw is supposed to be supplied with a toolkit that includes a Bar Spanner. If it didn’t, go back to the store and get a replacement. Another great video.
Yeah!! Stud Pak House is going on! So excited for you guys and looking forward to following the project.
First post, yes! Back for a real comment, great to see the family (almost) all together. Paul, dropping his usual wisdom and big bro chipping in.
Great to see you guys getting started on the house. You'll have a great wide open yard now to have as a blank canvas to turn it into what ever you heart desires.
Great video! So glad your showing all the work that goes into getting ready to build that people don’t even think of.
My neighbor moved in 6 years ago and when they bought their house one of the few large trees on their property within 5 feet of their house was dead. It still stands today as an eyesore. They could probably push it over and easily chop it down with an axe. Lazy to the max. I hate people who buy houses and act like they're still living in apartments.

I agree with the guy saying keep someone there 24/7 to watch things. any new people or construction is a sure target of thieves!
Great video as always guys! Been watching for awhile now. Hate to see you guys leave LA being not far from you guys made it so much cooler to tell people about y’all. However happy to see you guys tackling the “stud pack house” I’ve wanted to suggest it for awhile now but just haven’t. Tool storage that’s mobile. I recently built out a “Ron Paulk” inspired tool trailer. Keeps you mobile and organized for an on-the-go crew. Your tools are all in one place and already stored at the end of the day. And if you need to move them, you just hook up and go. I’d love to see a build mini-series from you guys on how y’all would set up a tool trailer! Keep up the great work! Love the channel and the videos!
Great start! The first of many great days to come! Happy New Year and Happy New Home!
That was fun! Pumped to follow this project! Just praying the tools don’t go walking! 🙏🏽
First time I’ve ever seen a Ford push a Toyota with a strap. Pretty cool. Thanks Studpack
Really cool to see the Stud Pack house finally getting some progress! Can't wait to see the future videos!

That's a cracking start to this project. It didn't take Tree Fellas long to drop drop the lot. Thanks for sharing guys.

Feels like this episode ought to be named "3 Studs & a Chainsaw!" 😆Nice work gents! Totally felt the stud pack energy as the trees went down. Brings back good memories of clearing the yard with my dad & his chainsaw just last year. Love this channel!
Great job stud pack! You guys always do great work love ur dad he never looses his temper if he does he's great at concealing it lol God bless you guys ur great one of my favorite channels!!❤️

Gratz on getting started guys! Shout out to those camera angles. Nice job!
It breaks my heart to see a Toyota pulling a Ford
So hyped for this series! keep it up guys! (and gals behind the scenes!)

Same here. The Stihl MS250 I had was a bear to start and always seemed to have carburetor issues. I know they are a good brand, but the one I got wasn't the best. I sold it and got an Echo and couldn't be happier. Starts every time and runs like a champ. Same with the Echo leaf blower.
Love it , the wait has been worth it ! So excited for what is next !
Good job bucking that tree. Always remember to watch your tip, that top side 1/4 at the tip is a doozy when you touch something you don’t intend to with it. PPE and respect the equipment, always know your bar length and look through your cut for obstructions. Good luck and can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Stud Pack feat. Rad ... lovin' it. The Stud Pack House series is gonna be epic.
Just started watching your guys channel about 6 months now but I have to say love the content! Haha Rad is definitely from Hawai’i with that Toyota Tacoma. Toyota saved the day! Sending much Aloha from Hawai’i!🤙🏽
Looks like it's time to put in a temp gravel road so equipment can move around the yard. Exciting to get "This old Stud Pack" show going!!
Good job! You had me on the edge of my seat with that last cut.
When He said the trees were all dead, I felt good about clearing the yard.
great job guys... keep on, keepin on!!!!!
Really looking forward to this series!
I can drive in my fields after a rain as long as I don't go over the same spot twice or spin the tires. I feel your pain.
Great Video Stud Pack! I love watching you guys. keep it up. Thanks
3:42 there's normally a T shaped tool included with chainsaws specifically for adjusting how tight the chain is
I have to take down a 30' Holley tree this winter. Thanks for the explanation on the cuts! Feeling more confident about it now
The Stihl ms250 has been a great saw since it was the 025 model. Great start guys!! This is going to be awesome!
This video was so great! I love using chain saws myself so I was emotionally there with you. I am waiting for the huge bonfire. Before the burn bans set in. Fun day STUDS. Thanks for sharing.
Nice, now tear down that shed! Keep up the good work, enjoy watching.
I love how much fun everyone is having. I'm having a good time watching you guys have a good time 😁😁😁
Love the vids. Keep them coming. The old Ford stuck🤯 is classic. Then the Toyota flexing....🤣🤣🤣
My favorite gardening tool is my cordless reciprocating saw. Chainsaws scare me and sharpening the blade is a pain. Last summer, I watched hours of videos published by pacific northwest foresters. They earned my respect.
Love the first video! Man I’m excited!!!

I was saying the same thing but then saw the pile and the shed was in the way LOL One thing though is to go slow in a low gear and not spin the tires enough to dig a trough

Lay some plywood down in the soft spots won't tear up yard and you can drive right over just fine. Many concrete companies use this tactic to avoid tearing up and digging ruts in customers yards trying to get equipment and concrete back to back yard pool and patio installations.

exactly. this is so well known(im a 60 y.o. woman never done construction but i know it) im surprised they didnt do this.
New chains always stretch a little in my experience. Also I usually have tighten a chain once it has heated up a bit.
awesome start to the new project. That split top tree was a little scary looking.
Nothing new gettin those big work trucks stuck lol. Especially with normal tires. Also this video made me miss the days of taking landscaping jobs I had no business doing. My first one I used an axe to cut the tree down lol. Eventually got smart and got the chain saw. Also if you can afford it. Plywood is always a big deal for soft dirt. A lady I worked for awhile ago would always do that for me. Especially when we were using my ol big xl.
