New builds in Phoenix can’t be added into the ground water grid, it is maxed. Make sure your water supply for your new build is something you are comfortable with living with..

Good luck on the move. Looking forward to seeing some home stuff when you move- maybe a random HomeGoods trip! Those always pop up during a move.

I’m so happy for you. I bought a carnival sx almost two weeks ago. We absolutely love it more than any vehicle we’ve ever owned. We’ve actually purchased two brand new cars this year because used were only a couple thousand less or the same as new. We never imagined ever buying brand new, but it just made more sense. Enjoy 😉

It is definitely nicer here in Phoenix in the winter months but we don’t really have a fall season unfortunately 😢 it’s November and many days are still in the 80’s and 90’s. But you can go up north and hour or two and it’s beautiful! Also you know the trade off of 100-120 degree days in summer… you do get used to it after a while.

The personal spending for you and your husband always makes me giggle. I remember when you guys got the same amount and he would be at like -250 and you have 800 lol

I did notice you stopped adding your net worth section to the bottom of videos (which is likely just for privacy, totally understand). Was just curious if these are coming back after the move is settled? Found that section inspiring + motivating!

I plan to bring it back once we're settled! Right now it seems like a lot of things that I'm blocking out that it isn't that interesting than just the bottom line. haha

We had the cash from the sale of our home, needed a second car, and this was the one we wanted. Once we realized that a new one was about the same price as one that was a few years old, we decided to go new and get what we wanted. :) This totally wasn't a "good financial decision" but I love that budgeting and working intentionally on other money goals has allowed us to spend money on other things we want just because. :)

Just wondering what on earth the point of this comment is. Are you being helpful? No. Just wanting to be a negative Nancy because you’re jealous or having a bad day? Probably. YIKES.

Never said it was a “good” financial decision. But we’ve made lots of other good financial decisions that we are happy to spend money on something that we want and will keep for a long time.

According to JD Power, Kia Carnival has the best quality, reliability and driving experience among minivans. Resale value is pretty good close behind Sienna and Odyssey. She made a great choice!

“Depreciation” is an accounting term and I’m an accountant. Any item for personal use looses value as it’s used. It’s a cost of use. Vehicle expenses are more complex than just realizing a personal use item is worth less when it’s used versus new.

  • @jamslam5641

Yeah, people always love to throw around "depreciating asset" when purchasing cars but don't take into account costs of transportation and convenience. Where I live a car is a necessity cause everything like supermarket, restaurant, hospital, etc. is 20 miles away. Nearest bus stop is 5 miles away. Try lugging 10 grocery bags 40 miles roundtrip. You can't. I would have to call Uber/Lyft which costs $50 one-way. Even if I didn't own a car, I'd still be spending $500+ a month on my transportation needs! But not all cars depreciate. Some classics and sports cars like Acura NSX have risen in value. So buy one of those cars if that's really that important to you.

Don’t feel bad about splurging on a new car. You and Jacob have worked hard and made a lot of fantastic decisions. You are right about used vehicle costs, you may as well buy brand new and get exactly what you want, and you paid cash! That’s awesome!

Here's what I'd love to see: When she finally sells that Carnival, I'd love to see how much they spent on it and compare it to how much they would've spent on public transportation/Uber had they not bought the car. I bet they're not that far off. Just to show those who always shout "depreciating asset!" that cost of car ownership isn't that much different from cost of transportation. Unless you walk or bike everywhere, you're gonna spend money for transportation one way or another

Really looking into the CIT savings account, there’s no fees if you need to use your emergency fund, correct?

  • @TheBudgetingWife

    @TheBudgetingWife

    9 ай бұрын

Nope! You can deposits and withdrawals without fees. It takes a couple days to transfer to your regular bank so I keep a little bit in my regular checking and keep the rest in CIT bank so that I have something for quick access if I truly need it. And I also don’t want to keep transferring back and forth multiple times during the month. 😊

Did you take the money you saved on utils and mortgage payment and put that money away for a new budget "fund" so you can get off to a good start once you've moved by having all of that money stockpiled in the bank? Or did you need that money for moving expenses? Great video.

We did not. It was a small wedding and between the travel and logistics, it didn't feel like it was going to work out. We were so sad to miss but glad that Jacob was able to go! She was very understanding and in no way expected the kids to come.
