    I don't think he was over anything. I've read the history of the production in the past and it was noted that Michael was actually nervous to record in front of so many other artists, in part due to how shy he could be.

    Back then, when music was music, songs were somgs, and singers were singers, for real.😢 Thank you Lionel and MJ(rip) for those wonderful lyrics, a great composition with a heartfelt intent. Thanks to you Quincy, for all that you put in to make this massive gem of a song happen. Thank you all the techies, the behind thee scenes people, the 45 star artists, living and dead(rip) for lending your precious skills and unique signatures to paint this into an incredible masterpiece of all times.     I never really thought about how difficult it must've been to harmonize everyone's voices for such a large group of very talented but different singers. Very interesting blending of different styles and timbres.

    Stevie wonder and Michael were always on point because they took voice lessons since they were kids. Steve Perry is amazing because he’s almost just pure raw talent, he’s on point. James Ingram as well, he was trained. Dianna Ross was nailing her notes as well.

    @@TheStepmonkey definitely was, he was gifted. Theirs a reason he was called the Voice. Too bad he didn’t train with the same teacher that Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson trained under. Seth Riggs was teaching them. Steve Perry would’ve saved his voice and still sound as good as he use to .

    First of all, the reason this song is iconic is because every singer brought their own unique style to the song and they nailed it. Say what you want, but this song is pure magic I get chills every time I listen to it 🪄❤️🎵

    Yeah. You have to remember that every single person in that room are along the most gifted singers on the planet. But this song didn’t fit everyone’s style; so it required a few takes to fit in. But man when everyone got their parts right; this was probably the greatest collaboration ever. Unlike the Hell firestorm that came 25 years later with We are the world part 2.

    Most people who are fans of music, but completely unfamiliar with the recording studio process, never realize the work that may go into getting that perfect take. Yes, there are a few who can nail it with one or two tries, but most songs you hear on the radio have been massaged until that right one finally drops from the ether. Even they will tell you that it's some unexplained magic.

    @@LoveablePleb The reason MJ sounded well is because he's the one that wrote the song with Lionel Richie. This video is what you call a rehearsal, where they fix "out of tune" parts. And also, don't say that only Michael sang well in that song because everyone sounded well with their own styles.

    Love the segment at the end that showcases the most iconic performers of that era who were all on top of their game. Especially the segment starting with Dionne Warwick to Willie Nelson to Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry and then Daryl Hall. All great and such different styles.

    I watched the Netflix documentary and noticed they didn't even mention Quincy's 25th anniversary version. That was an odd remake that relied very heavily on processed vocals and autotune (which to be fair is a popular thing in music now, I guess). But the original relied on natural singing talent and sounds much more in unison.
