The quickest way to get food for sale in year 2 is to build a granary to buy food from the local gardens. Once built you just need 1 woman working in the granary and 1 woman at a market stall.

There is a lot happening in this game all at the same time, and playing at highest speed can raise your stress level trying to keep up so that you miss lots of the little details. Ostriv is trying to simulate a living town as well as the needs of all the individual households. I'd recommend slowing down and take the time to wander through the town/buildings from the point of view of your citizens: what are their daily and seasonal routines; what jobs are available for men vs. women workers; what jobs are available for laborers (temporary) and when or how often do these jobs come up; what do they do when they "rest"; when do they stock up their homes for their own needs; how far do they have to walk to work; after all of this what time do they have left for work... Let's walk through a frustrating situation you had this episode: Emptying a building like the Thatchery takes patience. Laborers haul by cart only if you select it in the Resource button at the bottom of a building's window, and the Thatchery doesn't have that button - they carry everything by hand. And of course they had to hand carry everything up and over the top of all the farm fields to get to the new Thatchery. You wondered why there were no laborers to empty the building...well you were trying to empty it during harvest season (and your farm fields are HUGE! - easily 5x bigger than this size population needs), so all of your available workers/laborers to empty the Thatchery were already queued up to harvest fields (which I am guessing the game places as the most important laborer job during harvest season). Add to this, while your focus was on the Thatchery there were other jobs and needs happening simultaneously around the rest of the town, like laborers trying to restock wood and metal parts into the Carpentry because you gave the order to make new carts, or to restock the Blacksmith with charcoal, or to restock the charcoal piles with firewood....all calling for those same laborers you were waiting to empty the Thatchery. Patience... 😉 In regard to farm fields size, to give one example your 1st potato field brought in 1400(?) [bushels of] potatoes. Through your town market stalls you might sell 100-200(?) to your citizens. Potatoes rot in a year or two, so well over 1000 potatoes are now rotting away. Flour rots, too, as do many/all of the vegetables. And now you have TWO huge potato fields growing... Not to mention you don't have enough citizens to harvest all of those huge fields so this next harvest season much will be lost at first snow. All of this to say you could easily get by with one farm supporting 4-5 fields smaller than the ox yard at your farm building and still have too much for a town this small. Now this changes when your trader is up and running as you should be able to sell many of those before they rot (so not all is lost) though you still don't have enough laborers to harvest everything. So slow down and take a close look at the condition of your supplies. And for the love of all that's holy please don't put in that 3rd farm.... 🤣🤣 And one more note that I have recently discovered (but haven't verified yet) - I believe the 'Land Tax' at the Town Hall is what the citizens pay who have yards around their houses (house rent for single houses and apartment rent for row house). Making the yards (gardens) too big means they will have to pay huge land taxes, which means you need to pay them very well in wages and buy all of their garden surplus OR charge much lower taxes to keep them from going bankrupt and moving away. So something to keep in mind for later - huge house gardens may have a big disadvantage attached to them. Stone: from the iron field, the Limestone is one direction and the Stone is the other direction. This map really spreads things out far, forcing you to grow towards them. My town is starting in the bottom corner of the map so I won't get to Stone for a long time (3 bridges away). Though things didn't go perfectly I really do enjoy watching your enthusiasm for the game. Ostriv is a beautiful game created very well. Good show!

you can sell the food you buy from locals at your markets at a profit. (adjustable if you click on the coins icon on the top of the screen) also helps with food variety and family income. the tree removal takes so long because you only have 2 guys at the forestry. takes 2 to carry a log, and one of the guys will often be taking a rest

Both Ostriv and Foundation are pretty cool and different. Ostriv can keep you occupied for quite some time imo. And Foundation developed a lot in the past 2 years too plus it has a workshop and people are creating props and buildings for it which is great!
