Greetings followers of The Beard,

FIELD CROP ROTATION COMBINATIONS WITHOUT A PLOUGH
* Wheat - Potatoes - Fallow
* Wheat - Buckwheat - Fallow
* Sunflower - Buckwheat - Fallow
* Hemp - Wheat - Fallow
* Hemp - Potatoes - Fallow
* Potatoes - Buckwheat - Potatoes - Fallow
TIPS:
Build a farm to be able to grow crops. Use the "Add field" button to specify an area for growth. The created field will be automatically assigned to the current farm, but you can later reassign it to other farms or a cowshed.
All assigned fields will be shown in the farm's properties panel. You can drag and drop them to change the priority.
Choose a crop by clicking on the crop icon, and switch the field to "Active" to start sowing. If there's a plough on a farm, sowing will start after the field is ploughed. Ploughing helps restore soil fertility.
The soil contains 3 types of nutrients indicated by colours. You can hover your mouse cursor over them to see the exact values.
Each crop has a specific demand for nutrients, so thoughtful crop rotation is crucial for productive farming. You can change crop types each winter manually or hire a manager to allow for automatic rotation with up to 6 slots.
Leaving the field fallow, or even better, using it as a pasture restores fertility.
You can hire up to 5 workers for crop processing, ploughing, and taking care of draft animals. Also, labourers will be automatically hired on sowing and harvesting if it's enabled in hire options.

    This looks great! I've been fumbling my way throigh crop rotation and always come back to one guide on a Steam form. But this looks better! More, but smaller fields and more crops. And 2 fallow each year, is grazing for cows ánd sheep! I will try this soon!

    Thank you Laura! The guide is a bit old now so is missing some crop (Flax for example) but the principals seem to have stayed the same. I will do an updated version soon. Hope it DID end up helping. Thank you for the comment and for stopping past - appreciate it!

    How do you get enough food for your people with such small fields?

  • @The_Beard

    @The_Beard

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey - a combination of a few things I think; 1) optimum size so that they all get planted and harvested before winter 2) Worker management - so only having two workers in winter and a full staff from spring to autumn 3) Ideal crop rotations which give you higher yields Also ploughs help lots!

    Hoping this reaches someone who can help. First time playing the game after researching I set up my first year building 10 homes, they are now all moved in. I have forestry, coal, carpentry, blacksmith. In the second year i arranged my farm and planted crops in rotation, avoiding plowing for now. I have crops stored at the farm, i have now built granerys in fact 2 f them. It has a manager who isnt storing anything, a windmill is growing and i now have 2 market stalls. With all that done, why are most of my houses saying not enough food variety? and why is one of them saying running out of wood when the forestry has the wood and the farm has the food. I am missing something here unless they are too lazy to go fetch it and I am suppose to do that for them.

  • @The_Beard

    @The_Beard

    Hey Ishtar, Hmmm - sounds like you are doing everything right. Have you got laborer's moving goods to the stalls and made sure the goods you have available are stocked? I would also set up a trading post and start importing things like honey and salo as as soon as possible and make sure these are stocked in the markets. I have found this usually goes a long way to satisfying the food variety issue. Hope this helps!

    @@The_Beard I new I was missing something, i have this trouble in the game 'the foundation" as well. Okay so I have the goods being farmed and stored at the farm. So am I suppose to use the labourers to move the goods from the farm to the warehouse or to the markets? So far I had not noticed anything about labourers on tutorials hence why I was confused. What about one really "ODD" neighbour who wants wood. Am i suppose to somehow allocate a forrester to deliver it or something.....pfft.....*scratches head*

  • @The_Beard

    @The_Beard

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ishtar990 Yes - you need to make sure you have labourers as well as workers working at the markets. The Labourers will carry the good from farms etc to the markets to be sold. You also need to make sure that you have the right goods stocked in each market in order for them to be stocked. If you get stuck check out the first couple of videos of my full playthrough and you should get the idea. Foundation also caused me a few headaches! Also welcome to the channel - good to have you here!

    @@The_Beard Thank you ever so (kisses your feet *glances up* hope they are washed.....lol). That would make sense now as i knew there was something wrong they werent going to collect it. This game i have to run on double or triple speed to get things done fast enough, but besides being realistic and i prefer cartoony like foundation I am so far enjoying it enough to be more curious about it. Will look at your videos first on the who, what, when, where and how of the labourers on your tutorial before tackling foundations stocking issues........pfft......So thanks again......

    @@The_Beard Okay dopey is as dopey does I didnt tick a box as firstly I thought it wasnt necessary and secondly I thought I wasnt ready for it yet. I was wrong on both counts and didnt have labourer ticked. My mistake. Not sure what to do next as food is now moving, I tried to put in a church but that is paused as i didnt have stone, now i have my fishing dock and boatyard instead down and they are building a bridge across the lake to get to the stone downstream. So can you refer me to videos as to how to get around a few issues. 1. I am having trouble hiring workers, even if i free one up they are not immediately going to the area i need them at. Ie. can take them off building for forestry or off smithy to go to forestry to help but they dont switch right across and I am still waiting for a worker to hire. 2. I am building the bridge, but do they go find the stone themselves, i know where it is and it is a bit away from the village but still they do need it. 3. I am assuming i have to give them meat eventually but i also think i need a town hall or trade centre for more supplies, but i am unsure what to add next as i will need income but allocating people around is hard. 4. I have hemp, i have sunflowerr and unsure what to do with them..... If they are covered in a specific video I am happy to shoot across but i wasnt sure.
