City builders, colony survival and simulation management style games - Greetings traveler and welcome to the humble recounting of my quests through the worlds created by those far more talented than me. I strive to post full play throughs where possible. However - we will on occasion take a look at up and coming titles in once off First Look episodes. I love hearing from other players in the comments so any tips, suggestions and general banter is welcome.
I have also on occasion been known to live steam when I have the time on my hands. Check out the community posts for something that kind of resembles a schedule if you want to chat and hang out in real time.

im a huge skyrim fan, and i also really enjoyed empire, total war. this is kind of a mix, ive quite enjoyed this series and plan to keep watching, but as of this episode, you sold me. i just got this game while its on sale. also the thralls add on which looks cool too. im forming some plans for my village that differs from yours but we'll see how i go. good videos
Thank you so much - appreciate this. Love knowing that these videos sparked an interest for someone - also a big Skyrim and Total War fan especially the older titles. Thanks for dropping the comment!
This looks cool! :)
this game sucks
I think its biggest error is falling into a fairly solid but repetitive gameplay loop with nothing that really mixes it up all that much. The game try's to throw "a spanner in the works" every now and then so to speak but they unfortunately feel like the same problem as before (ratio of patients vs capacity to treat them) just skinned differently - full thoughts will follow when I am done with the full playthrough. Thanks for watching regardless!
You could have achieved more than humanitarian efficient if the civilian deaths didnt tank your mortality difference :D
Its actually a great little puzzle - I might need to do a separate little run to see if I can pull it off
amazing series
Thank you so much!
Sending the physician was not a smart move 😅
Yea - I did regret that one
You said at the end, if you have any tricks. I saw on a video a while ago that when you go to place something, say like the decorations or storage boxes, if you can get it to cross over 2 circles or 3 depending on how close they are, it gives the boosts in all of those area’s not just next to where you’ve placed it (If this makes sense, then good. If not then I apologise)
Double buff! Good tip - totally makes sense. Thank you!
Its amazing how the series keep new twists and turns, it makes the game really interesting throughout its play
Love the series so far. This is a very interesting game mechanism. Keep it up bro
Thank you Saim! Really appreciate it.
I have enjoyed your series. I hope you continue!
Absolutely - will do another full playthrough when the next content update arrives and have some ideas for something before then. Not done with Manor Lords yet by a long way... Thank you so much for the support too. Really appreciate it 🙏
@@The_Beard Great! Thank you!
Keep going buf
Thanks! There will definitely be more Manor Lords!
New fan, settling if for the series ... need more beer :)
Your voice is a natural for this, seems I began at the end, time for episode 1 :)
Thank you and welcome! Hope you enjoy the full playthrough.
Thanks
woah donation
Thank you so so much - so happy you enjoyed it!
Great stuff, you would have owned the baron for sure, his only play was to order an update.... kinda like taking his bat and ball and going home because he was going to lose lol! Hope to see more Manor Lords on your channel. For now I will have to go see what other stuff you have. Cheers again for the great content
Ha ha - was a little bleak we did not get the final fight but that's the way the dice rolls with early access. I will 100% be covering the game more - definitely when the next content update comes but potentially even before then.
You have inspired my choices in games. You game me so much interest in city builders. I just need a good pc now. Keep the content coming!!❤
Huge compliment thank you! I also think you have discovered the city builder genera as its about to enter one of its next golden ages too - the space for indie developers is huge! Good luck with saving up for that new PC!
why is this game looks like Dawn of man?
Love Dawn of Man - Ancient Cities arrived a year or so after Dawn of Man, very similar on the surface but they play completely differently IMO. Ancient Cities is much slower and focuses or tries to up the realism side of things as much as possible in a game format.
Great video!
Thanks Tony! Appreciate it.
Love this
Can not tell you how much I have been enjoying this series. Your style of commentary, verbalising your thought processes and resulting actions is both informative and enthralling. You have brought this game to life for those of us who watch. There should be many more who see this series, when it is over I will miss it, guess it will be time to check some of your other content. Thanks again!!!,
Thank you so much for this fantastic message - really means lots and I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Don't give up
Never! 👨🏼🔧
Keeep uploading man we are watching every episode
Thank you - really appreciate it. Two more episodes to go in the series!
"1er" is the abbreviation for "Premiere" ... the first gentleman whose file you read is a 1st Sergeant.
Ahhhh - lovely little bit of knowledge that. Thank you!
I'm stuck, my harbour offers nothing for me to buy, I tried to sell some hammers to make 100 gold to deliver up the road there In the woods, and the boat won't get unloaded by the people. And I can't buy anything other than a few buckets of water, 2 gems, and a few pieces of wood. Makes no sense, considering I'm this far now
Shooo - its been a long time to be honest. As far as I remember you can only trade one good at a time and it takes a while (depending on your set up) for the workers to transport all the goods to the harbor and then they have to move the gold out of the harbor to a warehouse. You can also only buy good with gold - so its not really trade IMO. If i remember correctly I would sell lots of one good (that I was over producing) to make cash just to buy another one - this is a tiresome process I will admit. I don't think I ever ran into an issue with the variety of goods I was able to purchase though.... sorry I cant help more!
Your settlement is really nice
Thank you! Here's hoping we can actually get to 100 homes!
I like it that you didn't just made the town like if you'd play a Cities Skyline game like most people on youtube do but they really look actually medieval. Reminds me of the saxon towns from here in Transylvania. :D
You live in Transylvania!? Epic, one of the places in the world I would love to visit! Thank you so much for the compliment, I try to make it look as much as I imagine a village from this time period would look like. It is tough, as an African I have very little context so super glad you like it and welcome to the channel!
Pax Augusta is one of the ones I am really looking forward too. I came across one of the dev's videos on KZread, and made a suggestion that he responded too. I love how modular things like the Forum are in building out your city. instead of just plopping down a "forum" building you actually construct each part of it, and that will add in making each city you build unique in a way that prior games of this type can't be.
Yea - 100% the one that caught my eye the most. SO looking forward to covering the game more - hopefully sooner rather than later!
Keep up sir
Thank you kindly - so happy you are enjoying!
Dude I’ve just found your videos by chance and I really like. I wanted to get this game but wanted to see what it was like first. Can’t wait to catch up on all of them.
Welcome aboard! So stoked it has helped - lots more to come!
I’m enjoying this, but mate you messing with my OPD - obsessive planning disorder 😂 keep it tidy/squared you’ll fit more and have better efficiency from buildings!
ha ha ha ha - yea my freeform organic leanings coming heavily into play, but yes I think this game definitely leans into the grid optimization side of things. Will keep this in mind as I go - don't want to cause too much anxiety!
Yes please ❤
Much more to come!
This game looks really good!
Yea, there are some really nice ideas in there, also this moving city builder trend is really picking up!
@@The_Beard I love this water mechanic. I bet you could dig channels pupendicular to the river to make the breathable area wider, and not just longer. Like irrigation channels.
gobboes
Could not turn it down...
It looks like a modern CIV CITY ROME. The graphics and art style are the same even some icons!! Very excited about this.
Yes! Man that's an almost 20 year old game now, I seem to remember the voice acting being surprisingly well done. Actually might have to revisit that one - thank you for reminding me!
@@The_Beard yea i revisit this game every 2-3 years to play the campaign it was very addictive!!
Around 7:35 there's a weird jumpcut idk if its been like that for your other vids just want to pointnit out Also you just gain a new sub never knew about this game find interesting wish to see more content like this
Oh - slight editing slip there is seems. Thank you for pointing that one out & welcome to the channel, super happy to have you here!
looks really cool, want yo play it myself
It is! Demo is still available on Steam if you would like to give it a try, as far as I know it will be available until then end of this coming weekend.
M comp has 3.8 ght i7 with 8 gb AMD radeon pro 5500 XT. Will this game run well?
Hey - yea it should do ok. The game is surprisingly well optimized for an early access title. How much RAM do you have? You are going to need at least 12gb
@@The_Beard I have 64 gb which is likely more than I will need even for work.
"We desperately need morale!" Game: Your staff is severely hungry! "A new vehicle for the Scouts sounds cool!" Game: Children steal food because your staff is hungry! Give more nutritious Meals! "Why are we so low on morale?!" Game: FEED YOUR FREAKING STAFF! "Oh look - more patients!"
I think you might have just summed by the game play loop better than I ever could....
@@The_Beard Not that I would have done even remotely better, but I was genuinely amused. For that: hats off to you, sir. :)
Looks like a Menu simulator ... One hour of white on blue windows who pop-up ...
It's a super super detailed game so the pop ups are basically the tutorial - it does get a bit much I agree but I would rather more info than less!
Great seeing a South African KZreadr 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thank you man - lekker to have you drop past!
@38:37 Oh yea, I forgot he gets to do that, if you defeat his army too quickly, he eventually summons another army! I wonder, if you had kited his archers into the battler area and then defeated them, if this second battle could have been avoided?
Caught me really off guard - especially when the battle ground was not even in the region being contested?
@The_Beard I believe the battle area is randomly chosen. I do think he should only be able to bring his army in off-map from a region he controls.
@37:26 There is more then enough space to put the manor house up that hill with out chasing the deer herd away. It would be a very nice hunting ground for the lord. This manor could be his hunting lodge, with how close the deer herd is to the manor.
Man I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets into the full roll play side of this.. got a second series planned where I want to lean into this hard with some self imposed rules...
@The_Beard I've been doing Role-playing with DnD since the early 1980's when I "borrowed" my big sisters DnD books and started making my own characters.
@28:45 You should've keept those trees. They add character to the manor property. And since it is right in the middle of town like that, The manor isn't protecting the town so much as giving you authority over the region. And those tree's really are not obstructing the field of view from the manor in this situation.
So true - it does indeed look worse now you mention it.
@The_Beard it's alright. It's a learning process, right? Maybe the appointed steward for this region wasn't very good. But nepotism, what are you going to do, right?
Yep, The second message coming right on the 1st day of the month tells me that the Baron sends his messages on a strict timer.
Which is ok - but not the best. I trust Lord Greg will change this....
@17:48 All you men are dog tired, so they can't actually run now.
It's all those new Gambisons I got them.... Lazy peasants
It seems like the Baron has a timer on sending you messages asking you to take his bribe, because after you have defeated his army, it makes no sense to accept his proposal. I think that the Baron's army should always come in from the regions he controls. As it is, he always seems to come in from the side closest to the territory he is claiming. If he came in from off map from the regions he controlled, then you would have had to march to meet him at the battle field, and then the battle may not have been over yet when he sends you his bribe.
Yea I feel like Greg has lots planned for this and what we have now is very much a placeholder or a very nare bones execution of the vision he has, I think he clearly intendeds to use the letters for a deeper diplomacy layer too....
@The_Beard yes, there is clearly going to be more to the diplomacy options. No doubt, a concilliatory, neutral, and belligerent options should be available for every type of interaction. And once there is ai on the map, possibly the ability to form an alliance. Maybe the ability to get an on map ai character to become your vassel through the diplomacy (and / or warfare). And possibly diplomacy with the King, too? (Ai powered autocorrect changed "concilliatory" to "confirmatory" without asking me. Glad I read my before posting)
