Under the mattress condensation is a common thing with the nautical crowd. Several remedies available at boating stores. The very best being the Froli Sleep System, gives the needed air gap and adds comfort. Really enjoying following the build and seeing your good work put to use!!!!!

Thanks for the tip! We looked into the Froli but ended up with the Den Dry because of it's lower profile. Unfortunately neither prevent the actual issue of the moist air condensing on the rivet heads, but they do prevent it from soaking into the mattress and causing further issues!

You guys are awesome! Your drive out of the hot springs was pretty intense. Because of some of the out of the way places you go I’d recommend you have enough tire chains for all four tires. That will keep your steering and stopping power the same on all four corners. The cable chains you used are good to a point. Personally I’m more comfortable with traditional tires chains. They are heavier but if you ever get into a situation where the road ahead is hard ice with water on it the traditional chains on all four corners will get you through.
@AmbitionStrikes

We will definitely be adding a second set of chains to the camper after that! We were shopping for chains that could be applied when stuck (non drive over) but I do agree something heavier duty would be nice.
You guys should make your way backup there over the 4th of July they have a cattle drive, fireworks, rode, and you can get in and out of the hot springs alot easier.

You need chains on your steer tires also. Otherwise, you lose control of your steer and your brakes as the front brakes do most of the stopping.

It seems chains on the front vs rear are a hot topic, with the only real answer being chains on all four. We rationalized that steering traction didn't matter if we couldn't get any forward momentum, and on such a steep hill all of our weight was mostly on the rear.

I knew you'd love that hot springs! Chains? I suppose those kind work in a pinch.. But , As A towtruck operator here in Eastern Oregon and considering the weight of your rig, I recommend a Real set of cam lock style chains.. Yes, they will be a little more bulky.. But, they will be stronger , last longer and offer a better bite in icy conditions.. Once you install them a couple of times it's not really that big a deal.. Like a five minute job.. Id hate to hear something bad happened so soon after building your camper.. Looking forward to the next video! How is the wifi setup working? Who is the provider and what is the data plan like? How much was the equipment? Dig that it operates on 12v..

You should check in with Chrome from Vancity Vanlife. He had a a moisture problem too with his bed and bought this thin barrier to put beneath his bed that allows air to pass through. Check with him. Enjoy your adventures
@AmbitionStrikes
3 жыл бұрын
We have a product called den dry underneath that allows quite a bit of air to pass through! The issue is the metal rivet heads cause the moisture to condense and pool, so if there is any moisture in the camper at all it is going to puddle in a way that air movement just can't evaporate.

The diesel heater has been amazing thus far and we would highly recommend it! Low maintenance, easy to use and doesn't require anything other than filling the truck up with fuel. @AmbitionStrikes
3 жыл бұрын
That is a very controversial topic! Some say the front for steering traction, others say they should go on the tires with the most weight on them. The hill was so steep we were going up that we decided on the rear for the most possible traction because of the weight of the camper. In our opinion steering traction is worthless if you can't have forward momentum. I think the real answer is buy a set of 4 and put them on all tires, we just didn't want to have to carry another set as they are heavy and bulky.

@@AmbitionStrikes understandable. definitely continue to monitor the underside of your mattress. i stay in a truck camper while at work and religiously love the froli. i found that the cold underside of the cab-over, meeting warm, moist air of humans sleeping on top creates moisture under the mattress during the colder months. if you do start to notice moisture occurring, having an elevated mattress to circulate the air will eliminate any condensation. best of luck:)
