Hell is closer than just 'On Earth' (Heaven too). It is within you. Being born IS the flipside of 'dying'. Why do you think we come in kicking and screaming (we're dying on the other 'side'). But it would only mean that 'life' is not how we define it (it's inside; not OUTSIDE). When God 'curses us', he becomes 'the Devil' in our eyes. Life as we know it IS separation from 'G-d'.
