The Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo is proud to welcome two newborn western lowland gorillas - the first gorillas born at the zoo since 2006.
33-year old Julia gave birth first on March 10 and 19-year old Tuti had her baby on April 17. The troop's silverback, 31-year old Ernie, is father to both babies. The Bronx Zoo's Congo Gorilla Forest is now home to 20 gorillas -- the largest group of gorillas in North America. The Bronx Zoo has a successful history breeding gorillas as part of the Species Survival Plan, a cooperative breeding program designed to enhance the genetic viability of animal populations in zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Congo Gorilla Forest has won many awards for its design, animal habitats, and horticulture. It is also among the world's first zoo exhibits where admission fees go directly to field conservation efforts in Africa. Since it opened, more than $12.5 million has gone to support WCS's Global Conservation Programs' work protecting gorillas from habitat loss and illegal hunting throughout Central Africa.

Awwww....all baby critters are cute, but I love watching primate moms with their babies...there's so much going on there that strikes the chord of familiarity....
How nice. Sting for her young.
Wow that was really beautiful.
The quality of your video is great, it almost seems as if your standing at the glass wall looking in. beautiful new babies....
Can't wait to go see them this Sunday! They are wonderful
I can see why we are considered similar to them when it comes to species

Esse bebê já tem 10 anos. Hoje em junho de 2024 😊😊😊😂😂😂😂😂
Theres something very peaceful and awesome about monkeys. They just wander around freely minding their own business and arent distracted by all the shit us humans are.

i'm so sorry baby's are born - what for - just for people to stare at ! zoo's we don't need them any more - the hardship for the animals is not worth it!

Yes, ideally they should be in the wild, but they are not safe in the wild.

If it wasn't for zoos they would face extinction. They are being poached and face habitat destruction in the wild. There numbers have dwindled drastically because of this.

I'll tell you what; if you can offer a world-changing plan to ensure their safety in the wild, no more hunting, no bush meat, no destruction of habitat, we as humanity leaves them alone, perhaps they will be willing to listen. Until then, shut the fuck up.
