Momotaro was scared when he was moved from the Ueno Zoo to the Kyoto City Zoo. The workers wore helmets when they moved him.
So, when he sees helmets, he thinks that something scary will happen again.
Today, there was construction work going on in the chimpanzee house next to the gorilla house, so workers wearing helmets passed by the gorilla house.
In such a situation, Mother Genki is said to call out to Momotaro to tell him that everything will be all right.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO.
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Remember how he shielded Genki during the quake....and she reassures him when frightened by helmets. A wonderful couple. ❤😂

Poor Momotaro. The trauma he endured on his first meeting of the white hats has stayed with him. He was on superalert. Glad to see his family rally around him to let him know he and the fam are safe.
Aww… I feel for Momotaro, especially when he hid behind the fire hoses. I have seen him reacting before to men in white helmets, plus I saw the footage from when he was moved to this zoo. It must have been frightening for him, wrenched away from all he had known. I noticed that the men in this video carried their helmets. I wonder if they were instructed not to wear them when passing Momotaro’s enclosure?

Yeah, I agree. I think there's other connotations to it as well. When he was being moved from Ueno to Kyoto Zoo, he would have seen them transferring him, which likely made him fearful of them doing the same thing to his family. Not only separated from his mother, Momoko, but he was moved away from the zoo entirely, so he would lose his mother's scent I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, but yeah it's pretty sad. 😐

Momo can break glass if he has to protect his troop from the white hats! He has never forgotten!🥲

He really could. When I did my study with the chimpanzees, one of the caretakers told me that the silverback they worked with broke the glass in their enclosure. He kept his family inside though. It was like he wanted to show that he could get himself and his entire family out if he really wanted to.

I love how Momotro keeps a keen eye on what is going on around him. He doesn't move his head just his eyes. Genki is a great girl for him. Love this family, Glad he is there to protect them.

モモタロウは白いヘルメットが苦手だとみんな知っているのにどうして避けることができないんでしょうか。来園者のいろいろなマナー違反を注意するのは難しいですが、工事関係者になら事前にお願いできたでしょう。
White helmets bring back a memory of an event that caused him trauma, betrayal, bewilderment, anger, frustration…. He was kidnapped! Surrounded by white hats. Moved in a cage and loosed into a small environment! No wonder he is cautious. I would say more cautious than afraid!

I know I can not but I wanted to jump in the outdoor enclosure and just give him a big hug and tell him everything will be okay ,,, To me he looked like a small boy again and all alone and so scared 😱… Genki is looking a little better today ❤❤❤,, Gentaro’s back is just turning colors slowly and he is still so sweet not trying to become the big old silverback of this troop Gentaro knows and loves his dad or that’s my opinion,,, Gentaro I love you my big guy… Kintaro he’s was running around and playing ()()() he know’s that dad and big brother will make sure him and mom will always be safe 😢😢😢.

I saw the video of the workers moving him. They jerked and rattled his cage, and they were overly talkative and unnecessarily loud. Nobody tried to make the transition smooth, calm or peaceful for him. No wonder he hates helmets!
If they are going to be using the funds they raised for Gentaro's new space, he's going to be nervous a lot more than people just walking by... I don't know how they are going to calm his fears, as that looks like it's going to take awhile to complete, on top of the chimpanzee's construction.🤷♂️

I adore this channel and am always mesmerized by them. I watch them every day and they always make me smile and makes my day so much better. God bless them.
Don't think it is fear but rather he is observing them. God help them if he got his hands of someone in a helmet as he would definitely go into protection mode for his family. The family would be aware Momo is not happy and they know if daddy not happy he can get very agro hence why Genki is helping keep him calm. His first and foremost job is to protect his group.
I’m not convinced Momotaro is afraid but rather on high alert and assessing the situation to be ready to defend his Troop and himself from those “dangerous”white helmet humans.

It’s so sad that momotero is afraid of the helmets. Also sad that the gorilla enclosure is so small. If we buy tee shirts and the like does that money go to the gorillas needs?

Momotaro é lindo, um belo modelo e fofo e um pouco bravo também 😅
He is so cute in the first shot with his little feet in the tire❤I feel bad for him he is doing this to protect his family and Genki is a queen Ik I got mad when she kept pushing and biting kintaro but I love them all always I wish they had sky and no bars and trees. Ik Momotaro used to love climbing trees when he was little to see monta the gorilla next door , tbh that’s how I think he grew so quickly he had a tree that was like 30 feet tall and he’d go to the top all the time to look at monta. Unfortunately monta and Laura are both stuck In Chiba zoo who actually owns momo Gentaro momoko monos mother. And they are alone everyday they eat alone sleep alone it’s so so sad they’ve tried to pair them up before but not In over 10 years gorillas are not solitary animals and therefore they both have unusual habits:( so so sad

私もサブグラの工事のヘルメットが気になっています…💦 安全上、 工事中はヘルメットは絶対かぶらないといけないものなので…😓 ヘルメットかぶった上から、 ターバンみたいに布巻いて、 ヘルメットを見えなくしてみたらどうでしょうか？？😅 ヘルメットに可愛い柄のタオルとか巻いてみたら、ちょっとでも恐怖が和らいだりしないかなぁ…😢 アホな考えでごめんなさい😂必死に考えたけれど、私にはこれしか案が思いつきませんでした💦笑 ゲンタロウが連れて行かれる時も、 ヘルメットが心配です… ゲンタロウ連れて行かれる＋ヘルメットで、モモタロウのトラウマが倍増してしまいそうで恐ろしい😱

@@sumomomo-momomo-momonouchi703 さん 👷♂ターバンとか可愛い柄のタオル！ 名案です😁👏🏻 それくらい徹底してほしい。 あのときのモモタロウの恐怖心は想像を絶するものだったと思うから🥺 狭くて騒音だらけの暗い檻の中で何時間も…大勢の人達の中には、緊急時の銃を持っている人もいたりして…飼育関係者の方々は、お仕事を遂行しているだけでなんの罪もないのですが🙏🏻 恐怖とモモタロウのストレスを想像しただけでちょっと涙が出てきちゃいます😢 ゲンタロウは群れを離れる前に多分ですが分離の訓練をしますよね。 ゲンタロウにもモモタロウ達にもストレスを与えないよう段階的に離していくのでしょうね。 そのためのサブグラでもあるんだろうなと。 モモタロウ達にストレスなく無事にサブグラの工事が終わるよう祈るだけですね🙏🏻😊

非難訓練の時もゴリラ舎付近では、ヘルメットを被らないようにしているそうですよ。工事の方にも同じお願いをしているのではないのでしょうか。だけど、モモタロウは見つけちゃう😅上野、千葉、上野、京都、三回も移動してますものね。ゲンキが「グッグー」で落ち着かせてくれるでしょう。😊

Podrían usar otro color de casco para no incomodar a Momotaro. Otra cosa cuando vamos a un museo lleno de cuerpos disecados o objetos sin vida guardamos silencio ¿por qué no hacerlo cuando se va a un zoológico? Los animales necesitan paz, un zoológico no es un circo.

Mas, tem a linda Genki que é o alicerce da família e acalma o Momotaro, Genki está com o rosto um pouco menos inchado, mas continua muito magra, espero que o Zoo esteja repondo nutrientes, vitaminas para que ajude na função do Sistema imunológico. I watch the chimps on the zoo’s Instagram channel. They seem to be fine.
