I drove 10 hours from NJ to SC just to attend & witness greatness. I'm so proud of Dawn Staley. I've bin following her since she was a student & player in VA. I just love this year's team. So I treated myself for my 71st birthday, & drove down. I plan to do it again next season. Can't wait. Maybe one of these times, I'll get to meet them.🙏 Keep doing what you're doing. God Bless all of you.

They won plenty of "ugly" games all last year, until the ugly game playing caught up with them against an inferior Iowa team. Last year was the most experienced team any program can have and the ugly playing still cost them. If this younger team that hasn't won ANY tough tournament games yet plays like this in the post season against a top seasoned team (LSU, PAC-12) they will lose. The current trend line unless corrected suggests the team will come up short again.

Chloe has to hit the weight room. She falls all over the place and needs to be tougher with the ball and boxing out. Raven should tweak her shot mechanics during off-season to be more consistent.

In the Alabama game she hit the floor 3 times in a row. A some has to do with her frame being to light. But i think most of it due do to her poor footwork.

@djtee4426 Yeah, I feel like Raven is regressing some in play and chloe a ton. It's like both of them have lost some swag and confidence. But to bench both Raven and Chloe speaks volumes to how Dawn knows to win it all you have to adjust. She can't do like she did in the final 4 and keep wrong players in.

Kitte's is really a Freshman age. She does need to work on foot work. But she started because she sees the floor so well ( defense has and offense)

Do believe the best lineup for us is Raven and Bree at guards, Kamilla center and Ashlin Watkins and Chloe Kitt at forward... Watkins needs to start, the sixth person off the bench may be an award for some, but having her start is more important, IMHO

The strength of this team is its versatility. Who starts doesn't really matter as adjustments adjust. Depending on the opponent I can see a number of different lineups.

@@KelzKelz we should put our best 5 on the floor as starters, and substitute as needed... that is our best 5. That is not meant to disparage our bench, they are a big key to our success, but the starting 5 should be our best 5.

Not a Gamecock fan per se, but love her press conferences. She's such a deep cut hooper. And I love her shade at the girls locker room chatter and the wisdom to just accept it. I won't be mad if they run the table.

I hope there's not no drama going on with this team. Her last comment about the 2 starters was interesting.

Man the drama started when Cardosa went out the country and returned . The team stalling at times is a bad sign for the tournaments . Coach is trying to refocus everyone with the lineup shakes . Dawn is working very hard to balance this star studded team . I’m sure it’s tough .

@@AsToldByMindy lol . Coaches talk to their players a lot thru pressers . You didn’t hear the presser after KC second game absent . I saw all this developing weeks ago and said it several times on various posts . Watkins strong play off the bench was going to rock the cradle and the strong chemistry the team had developed . I thought it was a bad idea to tamper with the rotation , players would start to question themselves and overthink a little . It’s too late to be shaking this nest. The 5 and the rotation was just right. Now they look like a totally different team .

1:09 Speaks volumes that Staley describes the difference between last year's player locker room and this year's player locker room as the different between a "Doctorate Program" and a "Day Care." Dawn knows that a locker room with a 'Day Care' mentality is not the championship ideal, but in these Tik Tok, NIL, social media times, she is forced to roll with it. The 'Day Care' mentality is visible in their play since the LSU game. Movies with this type locker room leadership usually don't end well. PG Raven Johnson is sadly in over her head from a leadership standpoint and senior Pao-Pao is an outsider heading pro next year, so she really can't focus on correcting a room she didn't come up in; it ain't really her problem...she's got to focus on where's she's headed. Can't expect her to baby sit a bunch of 'Day Care' McDonald's All Americans. Staley can only hope the Kiddle Crew doesn't stumble after bragging online all year about "getting revenge."

A lei, probably given to her by Te-Hina herself, or the Paopao family. Leis are very popular in Polynesian cultures and are often given in celebration of something. The one she is wearing is legit. Definitely not one of those cheap looking plastic ones you find at a party supply store.

Why? Sometimes you gotta bench a player when they're struggling. What's the point of having a team full of highly talented athletes if you can't switch it up when needed? Being a starter is not a birth right but needs to be earned and kept

If you pay close attention all season Dawn pulls her out quicker than anybody. She only was playing about 18 min a game anyway. But I don't think Feagan is a better solution, especially with Cardoso, you lose too much defensively and your offense is really not smooth with both in there. When you have Pao Pao, Fulwiley, and Bree on the floor, too many outside shots are being taken. They need Raven to keep the right flow out there. Now Raven is not a great shooter, but she runs the point better than any of those other guards.

Messing with the line-up and playing time after being 27-0 for what? If this is what they will look like moving forward they will eventually go down. Chemistry is everything and she is messing with the chemistry of a rolling team. They shot 33% from the field and that is NOT good enough. Not sure what Chloe has done....but seems Dawn has put her in the doghouse. If she thinks she will get better PG play with Fulwiley over Raven, no way.....Fulwiley wants to score too much. Let's see what happens in the tournament, but I think LSU is playing better right now than SC. Where did all these issues come from?

lol. Trying to fix something that wasn’t broke , players competing very hard for playing time , having a loaded roster , when a player goes out one steps in and shine . Looking at this develop I thought some players may start to overthink things . It appears they are ,but coach is trying to light some fire under a few players rear end for the tournaments run . But it maybe causing those same players to doubt themselves . It’s a very tricky slope.

​@@elloweeleach8209 She is playing well but she plays the 4 position, usually vs bigger and stronger players. She falls a lot. She has gotten stronger and I'm sure will continue doing so. She's a great talent and strengthening and conditioning will make her even better in college and the pros.
