It’s his beautiful eyes and climbing skills… Happy for new critters to name and love - can’t wait for itty bitty’s ostriches or emus (I know I have a short attention span, but bring on mama’s giant birds!)

I’m so happy Duck is home. Last you were really present in my feed wad when he was missing. I am not sure what happened, but I am indeed very happy from my heart that this stranger got his friend back healthy safe fed watered and loved! My cat has been missing for a couple days. I just hope she is okay like Duck was.

Cicadas are lit this year. I'm from Missouri and I remember the last time they were so lit.

I'm sorry, I just love Duck! He is such a sweetheart! I can't have a dog right now because I'm living in an apartment, and I believe a dog should have a place to play. I grew up in a rural area and we had all kinds of animals and I really miss having a dog, But if I was to have a dog it would be one just like Duck!!! I Love you Duck! ❤🧡💙❤🧡💙

I love cicadas! Hey, I had a coyote in my yard the other day! Not as friendly as Weave, but not in a hurry to leave either. I think they visit all the places with cats to see if there is food outdoors.

I lived in NJ in the early 80s, and same time they had a Cicada event. Seemed to me the Cicadas decimated the leaves off of most every tree. Is that the case in Illinois too? I might be moving to Round Lake this fall. Not sure where Tim is, probably pretty far. It’s fun to see Weaver is getting more comfortable with everyone, not as many “yarrs”! Fascinating to have watched this over the past year.

Cicadas don't eat leaves. They live underground for years in the larval stage, drinking sap from tree roots, and then emerge, mate, lay eggs and die. I lived in NJ in the 80’s too, and I remember a terrible gypsy moth problem. Do you remember the webs in the trees?

Wayne is definitely a tough one to go up against in a game of hide and seek. Does anybody else out there have an occasional Cicada Molt? If so do you prefer them plain, with nacho cheese or ranch? Lol, I usually just grab a couple off a tree, spur of the moment, when I'm with the Grandkids and their friends.....I tell em it's like nature's crunch and munch and see how many facial expressions I get 🤭. They usually want to try one along with me after that. I've done rescue rehab(exotic, wild, domestic) for 50 years and been a vet asst. To anyone concerned about dogs eating the Cicadas, they aren't toxic, BUT it's best if they don't consume them more than the occasional one. They are hard for dogs to digest and can lead to stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea(sometimes with blood). So just best be aware and reach out to your vet if you notice an issue. They may want to administer an IV to help them out.
