WAXWINGS in the U.K. Bombycilla garrulus

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The Waxwing is a plump bird, around the size of a Starling.
They do not stay or breed in the U.K. and only visit during winters when berries are scarce in Scandinavia.
They are mostly known for their prominent crest and love for 'berries'.
They have a general reddish-brown appearance with a black throat, a small black mask around the eye, yellow and white in the wings and a yellow-tipped tail that looks like it has been dipped in paint!
( ͡ ͜ʖ ͡°)
After 'missing them' for 20 years+ I finally got lucky with just 2 Waxwings spending a few days in the North-West UK in Blackpool, (they favour the East coast) until the berries on the trees ran out and they moved on.
It was far from easy to capture them well on mostly dull and windy days, for the few days they were here. But I was there for many hours over several days.

    Good morning Beyonce, I'm so pleased you continue to support me and my channel and I love reading your thoughtful comments. We all have patience and probably show it in different walks of life. You often need patience with Wildlife, sometimes waiting and searching for days without success, other times what you want to see is actually there in front of you but can be hidden behind branches of a tree or a bush etc and then when it disappears, you need patience if you didn't manage to film it and you are waiting in hope that it returns. Thanks again my dear friend and I hope you and your family have enjoyed a lovely weekend. 👍◕‿◕

    Hi Dave, I must have spent a total of about 20 hours there to capture these scenes. Most of the berries scenes were on the first day there, but as you do, I kept going and hoping my patience would reward me and thankfully it did. I've had a few attempts at seeing Waxwings and arrived 'just too late' on each frustrating occasion. There were 3 seen a couple of times at the back of Stanley Park, a week or so before these were first spotted, but I missed them also. Thank you for yourwatching and for your kind comment my friend. 👍 Good luck over the days and weeks ahead if you are out in nature 👍◕‿◕

    Hi Dave and Sue, I hope you are still having fantastic times, travelling about in the motor home. I did have to be super patient to capture the footage needed for this video. I ended up suffering with my legs for standing around for hours on end, with just a couple of useable clips to show for it, so I returned for 4 or 5 days. Mind you, they were only ten minutes away from my home. I'd love to film a huge flock but these two gave me as big a thrill. I just about captured a few seconds of the Goldcrest but it was gone in a flash. Thank you as always for your thoughtful and kind comments my valued friends. 👍◕‿◕

    Hi Anita, yes I also heard there was meant to be a Waxwing 'explosion' in Europe this year. They are almost always on the opposite side of the UK to me, so to get just 2 in my home town of Blackpool was a real bonus, especially as they were still there when i arrived... unlike my previous efforts to see them over the years. I totally agree with you there. Sometimes the sun adds a glare and sometimes the overcast days do show certain birds in certain backgrounds better. A mixture of the two can often be a good combo. Thank you as always for your continued support my friend. My channel has been demonetized because 'a significant portion of my channel' is of a sexually explicit nature.?? I'm staggered and very disappointed and having tried to appeal a single video demonetized before, I know what a waste of time it is. :(

    @@WildlifeBirdsUK That's bad news Jane. I suppose it is because of Deer video which got you 1M views. Can you find out? What would happen if you deleted that video? Would they reconsider? I'm just wondering how they came to that conclusion. Is a human watching, in which case it would most likely be the thumbnail which got their attention. Or is it AI in which case it would have to be due to something written in the description or comments. In any case it is a video of wild animals and anyone who regularly visits farms or even the zoo will come across scenes like that, so criteria used for human behaviour should not apply. Or would YT have the police force arresting dogs in a public park for indecent exposure🤔

  • @WildlifeBirdsUK

    @WildlifeBirdsUK

    @@wildhomevideos I can only assume it is that Deer video too, plus maybe another which just passed 1M views after a couple of years, another Deer video. They hardly give you any other info, other than it is due to videos with a sexually explicit nature? I'll copy it: Our team of policy specialists carefully looked over your channel, Wildlife & Birds UK. We found that a significant portion of your channel is not in line with our KZread Partner Programme (YPP) policies. As of today, your channel is not eligible to monetise and you will not have access to monetisation tools and features. Please go to your Earn page in KZread Studio to read more. And then from there I get this: After reviewing your channel using a combination of automated systems and human reviewers, we found that it does not follow KZread's channel monetisation policies. Our review found that your channel contains the following: Sexually gratifying content. Content containing sexual themes or content isolated for the purpose of sexual gratification. But I made sure you didn't see anything graphic and left out any mating scenes showing the males 'lipstick' 💄 I do not actually know how sensitive a thing it is, until I appeal, but I don't exactly know what I am appealing and you only get 1000 characters for the whole explaination and questions etc. Once you appeal that is it... you cannot then re-appeal for another 3 months, although you can delete whatever 'you suspect' it is. But I have been excited looking at the 'views' each day, as the 1M figure came around and it has earned me around £200 GBP and it is much needed, especially as my trail camera, left in the same woodland was stolen when I recently went back for it. But I don't want to lose a minimum of 2 of my top 3 videos... the only 3 over a million and the first one they age-restricted anyway, which reduced it from 1M views in the first 5 days, to under 3K over the following 3 years! It cost me £55 GBP per trip to where I film the Deer and this season I went 7 times... last season 9 times. So of course I want some return, but it is my absolute favourite place to go and film the Deer etc. ""If you think that we made a mistake, submit an appeal telling us why. We'll review your appeal and get back to you with a decision within 14 days. Only choose this option if you haven't deleted any videos since your channel was suspended from monetisation."" I don't want to delete videos and then find it could be others too, or whatever. :(

    @@wildhomevideos I have a friend with a Deer channel and he had a trail camera that picked up Fallow Deer mating (like mine).. he made a 'short' and it got 86 MILLION views and his subs went from 11K to 229K! But KZread demonitised his channel for 3 months!!! He's totally dismayed and not posted anything since. It's absolute madness that they are picking on any animal mating etc. GRRRR!!!

    Good morning, I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video. It seems a familiar story with Waxwings... appear and eat all the berries / mountain ash and then disappear. And don't they appear in unusual and unexpected places, like a car park to a town centre superstore, or a heavy traffic area roundabout etc. It's sad that your Rowan Trees have disappeared from the City too. I hope you have the birds show up again soon. Thank you for watching and for your kind comment, my friend. 👍◕‿◕
