    When running air through the unit after using it (as described in video around 0:35), I found that holding the unit up high and stretching the hose down helps to get more water out.

    Use straight vinegar run it half way and turn off your water pic and let set for four hours. Than run again and rinse out if you have to. I have my WP-100 for over thirteen years and all I do is air dry it.

    That sounds better for the seals I would consider edible grade glycerine to nurture the seals occasionaly. Follow with fresh water rinse and run as he said until bone dry. I don't know if I will take my own advice but ideally it used to be rubber was helped by glycerine.

    The most logical. I WOULD THINK WOULD BE 2 DROPS CHLOROX TO THE RESERVOIRE OF WATER AND FLUSH TILL EMPTY THEN REMOVE RESERVOIR AND ALLOW PUMP TO AIR DRY 10 SECONDS. THESE DENTISTS KNOW MORE THAN I, IM JUST SAYIN! HAVE A HAPPY DAY!😊

    Good stuff, but everyone, you've GOT to look at the KZread vid by Mel Martin, called simply 'Waterpik'. He opened the handle of his, and it was full of mould that he then cleaned out. I don't yet know how he opened the handle, and have posted a message there asking. I'm just saying, until you see inside that handle, you really don't know how dirty it is. His was filthy green with mould. Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.

    I wonder if running the pump continuously without water will put excessive wear on the pump and motor. I use mine 3 times a day and rinse each time. Stays nice and clean.

    I know this is 3 years ago so you might know already... They have one that attaches to your shower head fixtures connection. A little bit more effort to setup, but worth it, if you ask me.

    Waterpik told me today that a unit should be flushed with a tank filled with 2-4 teaspoons of vinegar, depending on water hardness, each month to descale it. Vinegar will not kill germs effectively.

    I seriously doubt that purging the interior of the pump, system and tiny tubes as described here is likely to dry these closed off interior surfaces. Air flow is needed and where does such air flow come from? And to the idea of having to purge and dry in order to eliminate dangerous bacteria???!! ("...lower the risk of contamination...") That's a scary thought. I wonder if running alcohol through the unit would prevent bacteria. The black mold I found inside my handle would never be prevented by such purging. To Bruce Thompson's (New Zealand) question about my video ("Waterpik"), I saw mold in the round end and then forced the handle open and discovered huge amounts of mold. I ordered a new handle & hose and discarded the old one.

    Would the vinegar be enough to cut through periobrite cleanse concentrate that's probably left residue within the system ? I have used that concentrate mixed with water and the inside of the reservoir container has the residue film on it which is hard to clean off with just water. I suppose I could use Dawn but the inside of the unit and the hose itself is what concerns me the most. I'd like to avoid using bleach if I could.

    Hello there, Great video! Just a quick question - can I use a 20% solution of Listerine when I waterfloss my mouth? This will help my gums and teeth and also keep the machine sanitized - or is this a bad idea? Please advise. Yours in Christ, Chris C. :o)

    Its says in the manual that you can add mouth wash or other similar solutions you just have to run it through with clean water after wards so it doesn't clog up the unit.

    My email to the WaterPik. The WaterPik model WP-100W has a design flaw and should be recalled. I need a replacement switch for my WATERPIK WP-100W that was purchased 6 months ago. The fault is in the gear-switch mechanism that allows the internal switch contacts of the switch to be partially closed, this results in motor stalling at full position eventually blowing the thermal fuse. A DC motor under a load will run hot with too little voltage. A low voltage forces a motor to draw extra current thus blowing the thermal fuse. Dear Michael, Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, since the unit has been taken apart we can no longer guarantee that the unit is factory sealed so the warranty has been voided. We also do not offer internal parts for purchase as we do not encourage taking units apart. Please let me know if you do have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you again for contacting the Waterpik Product Support Team, and have a great day!

    Andréas Remis PLANT BASED VEGAN I assume this is because the devise is meant for getting into hard to reach places and flushing out bacteria. If you are shooting bacteria into those hard to reach places it could be counterproductive. That's just my guess, I don't really know.

    Why the hell is this not told to patients at the dentist office? All they tell is to use a waterpik.

  • @acex8124

    @acex8124

    Because your dental health and the upkeep of your Water Pik does not effect them personally. Water Pik wants you to run out and replace your used one on a regular basis. The dentist wants you to need more services there too. It is not so much about healthy smiles. It is about money. That is how much they can take from you. They should show their patients helpful videos while they are waiting to be seen. If W.P. doesn't pay them to do so, then it is probably never going to happen. Keep smiling. This is Mrs. Ace X, in Florida.

    Don ONeal if you do use hydrogen peroxide then you much buy another machine every 3 months, as that black rubber ring melts into your water tank into your body. So I'd buy the very cheapest water pick often if it has to be binned every 3 months.. Or rinse from a glass of water mixed a Tiny drop of hydrogen P .

    It’s a compressor. Ever use an air compressor for filling a rubber tire? It’s the sound of parts rubbing and snapping back and forth quickly to constantly create a vacuum and suck the air through. They can be quieter if they used better materials, I think there are some options like that in the Water Flosser market now.
