Good review. It works like she said. My dentist recommended that I get a Waterpik and I've been using mine for about six months. Although I brushed everyday before, my mouth feels cleaner after using it. I'm curious to see if my dentist will notice a difference in my gums at my next dental visit.

I went from starting to have some serious gum issues and having to have surgery for my gum, to now having very healthy gums according to my periodontist. I put a shot of listerine in my water well which gets the bacteria out of the inner part of the gums. Surprised on my end to learn that gum health is prob more important that dental health if you want to keep your teeth and avoid other issues.

That was helpful, thank you! Any issues with mold or mildew? How do you keep it clean so it doesn’t get yucky or moldy? I’m thinking of the tubing area where the water flows through and any other area you think is important .

I have impacted wisdom tooth and it was very prone to infection. I started using the portable version of waterpik waterfloss around 2 years ago , and ever since then i haven't gotten a single gum infection.

I have used a water pick for years and no gum disease or bleeding. Once you use one you cannot live without it. You still have to FLOSS and brush!

Very informative and a pleasure to watch

I have an older model water pic and the water hose eventually broke and I replaced it, but it's not as good because I have to press a button to stop the water flow, so I can't leave it in an off position. I might replace the entire unit.

Can you please do a waterpic/waterflosser demo using disclosing tablet/liquid before and after? I can't find anything like that on any KZread channel. I am a skeptic and want to see proof that a stream of water actually loosens and removes plaque. An analogy would be washing the car with a strong stream of water only. The large pieces of dirt are washed away, but the small stuff is stuck somewhat to the car and requires scrubbing with a brush. Thanks

Hi Chris, thanks for your comments! I've still got a lot to learn. In terms of plaque - plaque is the soft whitish/yellow stuff that you can brush or scrape off easily. When it doesn't get brushed off, over time the minerals in saliva can make it harden and it becomes calculus / tartar. This cannot be brushed off and you would need to see a dentist / dental hygienist or therapist to professional remove it by scaling.

I basically have the same when you have but when I'm using it, it pauses for a half a second and then starts going again.

I love my Waterpik. I have the same version. It's been very helpful for my wisdom teeth.

Can we use water flosser to clean pits & fissures on chewing surface as bristles can't reach there ??

I recently had my teeth cleaned and the hygenist said I should get a water flosser...kept telling me all the benefits of using one and how their worth the money. Considering the thousands it just cost me to have 5 fixed (no dental insurance), this seems like a no brainer. I'll still floss but hoping this also helps with my badly receeding gum line and sensitivity problems...probably from brushing too hard.

Maybe You Need to Do Oil Pulling to Clean Out Bacteria from Mouth. Virgin Coconut Oil Is The Best for Oil Pulling.

I use a different model as I found this kind gets mold quickly.

I’ve been thinking of getting one, since I’ll be having braces soon. I can be very obsessed when I floss my teeth, and I like to take my time to reeeeeally get my teeth clean. I figure if I have braces on this will be incredibly frustrating, but the waterpik might help! :o

Hello dear, I use the waterpik wp660 now for about 2 months and I am very happy with it. But still I have an important question. I use the pik pocket tip in the evening and the classic jet tip in the morning. My teeth and gensiva are generally speaking not sensitive. The classic jet tip I use at almost full power without any problem. The pik pocket tip I use at about power 4. For the last setting is that okay? I feel I could go higher but does this bring any advantage or even can it be harmful? Your reaction will be very much appreciated. Is there somewhere in your account an explanation on how to use exactly all the tips? Greetings from Belgium...

Hi Patrick, the aim is to irrigate and disrupt the biofilm in the gum pockets which is fine at the level you're using. If too high could potentially cause trauma to these delicate tissues. The pik pocket is supposed to be aimed under the gum line into gum pockets if you have gum disease - sorry I don't have a video on this at present but I will look into doing a video in the future. Thank you

I found simpler solution to floss gaps, water pressure device from home depot. The bigger hose then more result.

In the UK it's dangerous to have electric sockets in our bathrooms. So use it in the kitchen sink, if it's a very clean kitchen, then it will always be that way.

Many UK bathrooms now have the 2 pin shaver socket that it will work in. It doesn't need the full 3 pin plug. However if you use it elsewhere you will need the adapter.

Ya and Countertop Waterpik can easily cause a mess on the sink counter.

Hi Ed, the Waterpik can certainly help prevent stains from forming if used regularly. If you have old and heavy stains, it would be difficult to remove with brushing or waterflossing. You would need a professional clean first and then to maintain it and prevent stains from the diet from settling on teeth then regular waterflossing can help.

No, calculus is the hardened plaque it cannot remove this, but can prevent it from forming

For years the company has known about BLACK MOLD growing in the handle! Photos of mine show the entire inside of the handle caked in black mold after noticing black chunks coming out while I flossed - and vinegar cleaning won’t reach this area! Do a google search for “waterpik mold” before you buy!

Remove the tip and submerge the handle in a a cup of water/vinegar solution for 10 minutes. Anything that works with water is liable to develop mold if not cleaned...

I'm rather surprised to hear a "dentist" remark that using this water flosser will remove the fluoride off your teeth from the toothpaste. Doesn't she realize that you can buy all kinds of mouthwash/rinse with fluoride that you can rinse with AFTER flossing? Or brush AFTER flossing, so that the fluoride in the toothpaste now has clearer access to a cleaner tooth surface and below gum line area? Less than impressed... Also would be nice for dentists to promote xylitol or erythritol dental products, as they are known to reduce the bacteria in your mouth that leads to caries, and are FAR safer than fluoride.

Dentists don't recommend mouthwash after brushing even if it has fluoride. The fluoride in mouthwash is lower concentration than the toothpaste. I recommend to use mouthwash at a different time to brushing such as after meals 1. Freshen breath 2. For another topical application of fluoride. No need to insult me by saying "dentist".
