Hi friends!
In this lesson I'll teach you how to REALLY get an even wash in watercolor.
This is such an important skill to practice and internalize, because the next time you work on a painting it's just going to be better. Sounds good? (;
We will make use of the BEAD in this video. We'll talk about how to utilize it to give yourself more time, and have a great result at the end.
I hope you enjoy this one, and feel free to leave any comment and ask any questions you may have.
- Liron

I agree! I was looking specifically for wet in wet, and came across Liron. I don’t think I’ve ever found a better instructor for the basics! I’ve been doing a course on Udemy that covers this exact thing, but jumps right in to creating a fairly complex painting for beginners. I completed the first course, which was all wet on dry, and I somehow figured it out. But the wet in wet has been so overwhelming that I’ve gotten frustrated and stopped trying. I’m actually a decent acrylic painter, but watercolor takes practice. Love these videos!

Wow, seriously! I just picked up watercolor and have been so confused and overwhelmed. Not being sure if the issues are my technique, the paint, the brush, etc. Now I finally feel like Im starting to understand. Thank you!
I am new to your channel & in my 40s. I would describe myself as a complete novice, with only about a year working with watercolors. Although frustrating in the beginning, I love watercolors (& all types of art modalities). With all your videos, I figure, it will likely take me the rest of my life to go through all your teachings. What a wonderful wealth of knowledge you have. I thank you sir, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing such helpful information 🙏🏼
This is the best demonstration with explanation of the bead in painting a wash I have ever seen. The best!

Haha so happy I could help! 😊🙏🏼
Liron, Thank you very much for this explanation. Artists on youtube, doing portraits seem to just dab color all over, then never explain what the are doing. A little blue here, some sienna here then all of a sudden the wash is smooth and blended and with depth and we have trouble understanding how it was done. This is an excellent video. Thank you.
I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. As a complete beginner, this is really handy.

The Bead!!!! I've watched and followed many beginner tutorials, and heard about the bead, but I really didn't get it's importance until I saw your video. I think I'm going to binge watch everything you've uploaded :)

WHAT??!!! “…feeding the bead!!” Why have I never heard anyone else explain this? I live in a very very dry climate and struggle tremendously with the flat wash. I’ve never been able to maintain that elusive bead. I can’t wait to try this “feeding the bead” technique. Thank you so much for all the invaluable content you share, Liron. I have learned more from you than ANY other artist I’ve ever followed. You are my art hero…❤ 💪🏻❤
Best video I've found on KZread for this technique. Thank you so much!

I'm a beginner in everything in arts .... i'm starting to paint with watercolors. I've seen at least 50 videos, and yours are the most informative, relaxed, giving great advice, practical advice !! mental advice !! and you don't to small talking (which I hate in 15 minutes videos). I'll be watching all of your videos for sure. This is just my #3.
Thank you for this. I struggle with washes. This is a great lesson, I'm going to give it a try.

Hello Liron, and thank you for this video. I have struggled with my washes, but after watching this and following your advice, I begin to get some really good results. It's so motivating, thank you!
Thanks Liron I just took a class online and they started with doing a bead all the way down the page. Now I know what a bead is!
I'm not used to watercolors, but I was looking for a way to tone paper before my colored pencil drawings and I think this technique is perfect. Thank you!
You are an excellent teacher! Thank you for sharing your techniques & skills! I am improving sooo much by practicing the basic techniques - amazing! SKILL=talent= practice=talent=practice=talent=work=practice 😁👍
Thanks so much for this video, I practiced for an hour and really improved wet on dry washes. As a beginner, it was so helpful.
I am going back to basics. Thank you Liron.
What a great class. Thank you.🤙
Excellent tutorial, thank you!
I never learned the bead method. Know I see how. Part of the trick, too, is not over-misting it.
That was an amazing lesson. I truly respect you and your work. Thank you so much for explaining as you go, it was a great help to me.

Hi Liron, I’m very grateful this gem of a video appeared. I’ve been taught differently but now I can see why your washes are so successful. I’m keen to try this technique for myself....Thank you!
Really explicit. Thanks.
Very good teacher.
Hi Liron, I’ve been painting for a few years now and struggle with flat even washes over large areas. I now have the answer on how to achieve this. Finally, thank you 🙌
Very clarifying! thanks!
Thanks for the teaching 🙂

Great lesson because what frustrates me is how uneven and blotchy my things look. I really want to learn to paint an object with a very consistent look to the color (say, as I like gouache usually does--even and flat). This tutorial really helps. I like your videos and happy I know of a place online I can visit for expert help. Thank you, Liron!

I'm glad you did this tutorial. I have issues with not getting washes even. It's okay when it's the sky and even water but with other things it isn't. Thanks!!!
Thank you Liron! Your awesome videos are always right in time for me, I get a problem with enough water in my paintings). By the way, your speed of speaking increased incredibly for today but I still understand you well, it's amazing and cute!

Very clear explanation and demonstration. I've always struggled with producing a smooth wash, but looking back it was due to too little paint. My puddles were too small. I'm going to try this exercise. Practice is a bit like shampoo - rinse and repeat :-)

I don't have sepia on my palette. When I want or need it I just mix a touch of ultramarine with raw umber. When painting with browns I usually mix three puddles... a sepia for one puddle then my ersatz sepia plus a little burnt sienna for a van dyke brown for the second puddle and burnt sienna plus raw umber for burnt umber. Raw umber is for me a far more useful color than sepia. For each his own. That's one of the great things about being different people and the existence of so many colors. There's something for everyone. Right? Riiiight! The tough thing about getting a large even wash is when the wash is interrupted by or has to be painted around objects...i.e..roofs, chimneys or smoke stacks, girders, cranes or other equipment etc. Not as easy then. Got any suggestions Liron? I'm trying to work my way through your vids. Oy! So many! You are one prolific dude. ✒✏📘🎨🎤🎧
