    wow amazing looking tank right from the start! love tank tear downs! I have the Red Sea P500 peninsula. Love the 2 sided view of peninsulas, wish I had a scape like yours after seeing this lol. Liking the MP60 idea I have 2 gyre XF350 and struggle with flow at far end of tank. currently had to move the one gyre to opposite end to lose dead spots. Just doesn't look good so a re-scape is on the cards!

    Love the scape... but would have enjoyed a longer journey. Haha. I personally find adding individual pieces a few at a time and stocking slowly and watching frags grow. Not a big fan of the “instatank”. But everybody has their own preferences.

    This is my 6-7th upgrade now and i knew another reefer who had to shut down a tank for health reasons. so kinda was a win win helping him out and stocking my tank. I also moved in many corals from my other tanks.. trying to consolidate some of my systems. So technically i did grow out a good chunk of it from frags :P

    I am contemplating setting up a 7225 for a sps only tank to compliment my 190 mixed reef. Do you find flow from overflow side to far end an issue. I would use a pair of big gyres

  • @ReefDudes

    @ReefDudes

    3 жыл бұрын

    No real issue. you have to play with the flow a bit to make sure you dont get a bit of protein layer building up on the surface if your always pushing towards the end but if you mix it up with the flow you should be good. I tried real hard to keep all3 sides clean and clear and with with 2x big mP60s on the overflow wall to accomplish that.,

    ReefDudes I ordered the water box 7225 as well and I’m currently purchasing slimmer heaters powerheads etc. great video brotha. I do have a question how are the 2 300watts doing? Any issues with major temp swings? And do you prefer 2 300 watt heaters vs 1 600watt?

    ReefDudes thank you very much for the Info. Well I plan on putting the tank in the living room and my a/c temp is always set between 68 degrees and 72 degrees. 68 degrees at night and in the day it is at 70 degrees. You think 2 brs 300watts will be okay?

    Because then you know it’s stable. If sand supports it and a fish digs it out then it could shift. If it’s solid on the glass then nothing can dig under it and destabilize it

    All that added instantly with brand new rock and sand..wow such a bad idea..no instant bacteria is going to stop the phases of maturity. Those poor fish and corals..and all those sps..RIP. What a bad example for the reefing community 🤭..cmon guys.

    @@fasttlife1807 Why would you say that? If you have been watching my prior videos you would know the rock has been cycling for about 2 months prior to going into the tank.. and it was cycled with bacteria that can cycle in a week.. and feed ammonia. I have tested my tank every few days and 0 nh3/no2. There is already coraline growth on y rocks.. Why is you think it wouldnt work? The only reasons you wait months is to build up a bacteria culture.. Now if you have an adequate bactiera to handle the load then you have a proper denitrification cycle :)

    ReefDudes I don’t mean any disrespect, this is my own opinion formed off all of my research and 6 years of reefing. I have a similar smaller setup (100g nuvo ext+40 sump with every high end bell and whistle). I’m glad your rock is cycled but in my opinion throwing THAT many fish and coral in there at once, with (young) rock and sand that are even two months old, there’s still going to be major instability for at least a few months. Even off all of your fish live, I would be amazed if all of those sps make it through the nutrient instability. I know you are experienced, but I think patience is the way to go and supported by the biggest names in the industry. I wish you good luck.

  • @brianculater6444

    Nice setup although I don’t like the way you basically threw it together. I don’t mean to sound harsh but it’s bad practice and bad for newbies to see, good luck with it!

    I pre cycled the rock since before Xmas I fed it with ammo is and built up a strong army of bacteria. As well as added a lot to the tank. Pre fish. And monitored ammonia. Coral are perfectly fine in a new tank as long as it’s stable. I have an alkatronic testing it as I dial it in. All perfectly fine if you know what your doing :)

    ReefDudes I totally agree with what your doing and how your doing it, I was just saying telling “rookies or beginners “ to cycle a tank the way you have and the way you did everything these beginners probably won’t fair as well as you. EatSleepReef don’t have room to put up a 10g QT tank so that’s his excuse not to QT fish and others I’ve seen “Popanddrop” their fish. Yes all of this is advise here on KZread so I wasn’t sure what you had going on is all. No offense my friend and happy reefing 👍👍✌️✌️
