Your deck is very similar to my bamboo surfskate deck, I got from Moose. These days, I ride a Yow Meraki in the front and a Waterborne rear-adaptor with an Ace AF1 66 in the back and 70mm, Surfskate Love 78a wheels with Zealous Ceramic bearings. I started with another Ace AF1 66 on a Waterborne front-adaptor like you but once I switched over to the Yow Meraki, there was no going back for me. At last...the Perfect Carve! 😎🤙

I have a carver cx and the waterborne surf and rail adapters. I prefer the waterborne to pump. I use the cx to pump and push. If there are significant uphills, I prefer the cx.

In my humble opinion, I think without the rail adapter actually more similar to surfing. The fins, especially the quads helped to control but also resisted to slide-out. That why a person needed strength to do a cut or a snap.

Confirm that. To use rail adapter it feel like you ride malibu or surf longboard without the feel is more like shortboard

Thank you for the video, I’m looking at either getting these or swelltech. Which would you recommend for surf training?

I can recommend waterborne system for longer wheelbase boards (+19.5"). Only front system if you use shorter wb deck and TKP trucks. TKP´s are my favorit for this system. Waterborne system do not change the orginal wheelbase of deck. Swelltech has the spring system that have poor springs, many of my friends broke them. Remeber to check out that the shape of you board support all these systems. All surfskate systems are their own and have some best points. There are no "simply the best system" in market. For surf skateing all works. If you want to go a ride bowls then Swelltech is not the easiest. I have never tested waterborne skatebords carbon completes but really want to.

I own a swelltech and it's super fun. The only downside is that the springs on the front truck that allow it's versatility in maneuverability can break. I'm a heavier guy and this happens to me all the in consequence. So if you're lighter guy who surfs and wants to closest thing to surfing, swelltech is a go for sure. If you just want great pumping and carving capabilities, waterborne is by far the better choice!

If you want some of the truest surf movement there are three wheel surf training boards that are almost identical body movements to surfing, only issue is they take a LOT of balance

I've tried these on a small old school pool deck with independent trucks and I dont get a better turning radius than my Loaded Icarus with 180 mm paris reversi kingpin trucks. Yes you can get a bit more angle in the board but too much and I get back truck wheel bite....

I think it is your deck. Too short wheelbase and The concave do not work with narrow stance. Try without rail adapteri and use The risers to The backtruck.

I find that as long as the road is wide enough, I can carve switchbacks to control speed. Otherwise I just bomb it straight on, in which case I've yet to get speed wobbles with the adapters. I think that since it's a trailing link that it stays stable at speed, and the rear rail is supposed to actually help as well. That said, I'm not all that great at drifting and sliding as it is and I don't feel confident enough to try with a Surf adapted board, and not sure that'd even be a thing for pros as it's specifically made for cruising and carving.

If I put an adapter with reverse king pin on a downhill long board, would I be able to bomb hills? Or would the adapter not be able to handle it?

In general surf skating and carving do not mean bombing hills. You can put this system to your Dh deck and carve down The Hills or surfskate The asphalt wave.

In my experience with the front adapter on a normal 31" street deck (14" WB), is bombing hills feels like snowboarding, where you're unstable in a straight line, but stable when carving between toe and heel edge. I just ordered a board with 17.5" wheelbase and the rail adapter, hopefully it works!
