Leaned Bricklaying at college Level 1 deploma, just finished my first assessment 1 mark off a distinction! Thanks for the tips across the videos!
I would love to see pictures / video of this project completed. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.👍👍
nice when everything lines up and can get in that groove. a lot to do with temperature, materials etc but when it comes together nothing like that flow state.
Another cracking vid mate 👍
regardless the method on butttering. got to appreciate the full head joint. quality craftmanship!

Good stuff Matt glad they help you 👍
One thing I hate is being in the line with another brickie especially when they constantly ping the line around like a fishing line 😂

We call it thumb in the line. We just yell "thumb in the line!" Everyone starts being more careful. Also new guys are taught to lay to the line but it should have daylight between it. To test the line "has to dance." Some will "dance the line" after every brick lol.

Bricklayers!!! Greeting from Russia
Any tips on doing perps on thermalite blocks ? Been shown a few methods but still struggling without it dropping off :) (apprentice)
How about a video of how to match mortar stu.
Maşallah, çok güzel tebrik ediyorum.
Please, if possibke make video about preporation cement slurry.
I know this was a year. Ago but you were just as meticulous back then. Doing great work bro
@ stu Compton is bricklaying better for ground works?
Hey I always watch your videos. This might be a stupid question but is there any purpose for pointing? Because I think it looks better with the concrete flush with the brickwork.

Striking off the work adds a tight pressure joint that weathers better. We do lots of styles in St Louis Missouri to match Historic work from concave to convex, flat and raked out recessed ones. Weather joints add some dimension.
Hey Stu. Just saw a video on dragons den about a bricklayer who invented circular mortar boards that bolt onto the side of the scaffold. Wanted to get your opinion of these as I didn’t think it was a great idea but they did. Cheers Ben.

good idea mate
What is used as a plasticizer in the United States. No matter what I do I can’t get my mortar to be fluffy, sticky, smooth and stiff at the same time? Most of the time I use Quikrete type s mortar, that could be my problem?
I can watch this all day, amazingly satisfying

Check out the second channel too @asmrbricklaying 😁👍
Stu. Looks like there are some Yorky joints . You would‘ run the muck that far out on a hot day.

Not on a hot day James 👍
I still don't undestand how you can finish the line with the perfect half or full brick. Do you measure on the first line? Is just experience and you keep measuring "by eye"? It would be nice to see a video explaining all these things. Great work as always, btw!

You chase the bond through from one end and then adjust the perps to suit, oh and years of expeirience.
Good work but the line didn't seem like it was pulled very tight. I'd want it tighter or I'd have to set a brick in the middle.
Not sure the odd gloves look will catch on Stu 😁 good video though 👍

Hello there Stu, I watching one of yours vids, it was the part 2 of the one where you built the radius garden wall. There was some music playing, it was a female singer and the main lyric was IN THIS CITY, I have been searching everywhere to find it to no avail. CAN YOU HELP. It would be a great addition if you listed your music, there are some good ones, cheers.

Pls do a joke video about the different types of brickies
wonder who would win in a fist fight between Stu Crompton and Rob Songer??? my money's on Rob but i reckon KC would flog the pair of them together.
Hi Stu guess what, yes I managed to find the track that I asked you about. IN THIS CITY , by Martin Carlberg , SUNG BY LOLLO GARDTMAN. I'm made up now, Thanks. It's very much Wigan Casino. KEEP THE FAITH. Tell KC he'll be chucking himself around.

Have had some idiots mixing the mortar years ago... Easier to butter up brick with dry sand.
I wonder why the mortar doesn't stick and stain the face of the bricks?
5:45 very nice way to lay, but unfortunately it doesn't work if you are more then one working on the same line
👍
Great stuff. Do you have one name that would instantly spring to mind (apart from Stu Crompton) if asked who is the best you have ever worked with?

That last bit of the video isn't suitable for KZread that was propa erotic that lad
There's more mortar on the floor than on the wall.. .
It's always baffled me why most bricklayers put the line up before spreading a bed. They're walking back and forth twice as much as you have to. The only argument they could counter with, it rots the line. Even if thats the case, line is cheap when the money goes up by a couple of hundred quid a month for changing one simple thing.
@Stucrompton1

i kow what you mean but for me you can get mortar caught between the line and face and you cant get a clean cut so its just easier and you dont have worry about smudging the face but i tottally know what youre saying john

@@Stucrompton1 Try it for a month stu the next time your on a site. I hear what your saying about staining F/B with the mortar but it's not an issue especially with guys like yourself who's brickwork is immaculate as well. Keep up the good work. It's a pleasure watching you build 👍
