I finished endwalker and now i'm in the part called "New Adventure",but i'm kinda stuck in that one...I wanna do the dungeon called Pandemonium,but i cannot do it. TT v TT

Super strong recommendation that you don't skip the Endwalker Job Actions trailer. You can skip the Shadowbringers one safely, but watching the most recent one will give you the most complete listing of all the classes currently in the game & how they play.

Full agree. the older job trailers arn't really relevant as some of those skills have changed or been removed but do watch the last one. its the best way to get a good idea of how the jobs currently look and feel.

There's a group of main characters that you consistently hang around, but you are effectively the main hero, even though most everyone else has their moments to shine in one way or another in helping you and the story.

Benchmark is a "trailer" you can run in-engine on your pc to see what settings your pc can handle when you buy an expansion, since they slightly update system requirements each time.

Man if you ever actually tried to play and finish this game I think you might keel over from the sheer amount of content lol

I don't believe you will read it but I would like to try and answer few of your questions about the game. You are the main hero of the game. In the main cinematic trailers there is a character that represents the idea of main character (so called warrior of light or wol for short) but whole story revolves about you and your deeds and friends you meet along the way. Game is not grindy, you can do only the main story of the game. The game does good work with slowly introducing new mechanics like housing raids Gold sources with time to not over. It doesn't matter what you play at, all players PS4/5 and pc share servers. Just find out why server you want to go to. I personally play on pc with gamepad and keyboard next to me if I have to type something or navigate menu. You can play all classes/job on one character and swapping then is quite easy with time (that's only place where you can get some small grind) And remember that there is a free trial that allows you to play game for free for main game and first expansion with very small restrictions (no trading or guild) it's great to try the game before committing. Main story of the game is a very long epic that is worth experiencing, everything is related whole world is well build. If you ever decide to stream or let's play the game I highly recommend you to voice act the cutscenes it's fun and very entertaining for you and the viewer's. I hope I will see let's plays some day.

"What the heck is a Dragoon?" Earliest example I can strongly recall is Kain from FF4. A knight in heavy armor which uses lances to fight and has a tendency to jump and fall spear-first onto things.

Also their armor is spiky as hell in case they get eaten alive by dragons they can do some damage on the way down.

They're pretty much the Special Forces of Final Fantasy, and the only ones actually qualified to fight dragons without having a written note with mom's blessing.

Well, Ricard in FFII is technically the first Dragoon (and is Called Ricard Highwind, same name than Kain in FFIV or CID in FFVII who both wield a lance) but in FFII he cannot jump because the mechanic was introduced with the Dragoon job in FFIII but rather was bounded with a Wyvern to help you in the story

I have seen the Shadowbringers trailer so many times, but I still - to this day - get chills every time I hear "...become the Warrior of Darkness." The only line in the trailers that rivals that IMO comes from the Endwalker tailer.

So, answering some of your questions: The Benchmark is something you can download before each expansion drops, essentially to check how the full game will run on your machine. The corresponding trailers are announcing it, and serve as visual showcases for the expansion. The game is fully crossplay, and you can even play on PC or PS whenever you want, your progress is shared. Also, I did get Xenoblade vibes from this game as well, and as a FF fan I decided to try it for that reason as well. The story of this game is simply amazing and it just gets better and better. Hope you decide to eventually play the full thing, and I'm very excited to watch your first FFXIV stream in just a few days.

Don't know if you started the next part but I highly recommend for Endwalker, skip any "Teaser" trailers because they're just shorter versions of the full trailer.

The ''standard'' looking guy you see in every trailer is the MC , it's you , technically. That's why he's using multiple jobs and such, since he represents the player. He's also technically something else but I won't spoil it.

I commend you for watching so many of the large amount of trailers (fun to see your reactions!), but I'm not sure if it's beneficial to watch the teaser and extended teaser trailers of the cinematic trailer considering you will be watching the cinematic trailer shortly after :)

The cinematic should have been the first trailer(s) to watch for each consecutive expansion; gives a great taste of what to expect.

For a little context. FFXIV works pretty differently to most mmos. Each expansion is a direct continuation from all the previous ones and you have to play them all in sequence. They are like sequels connected together like a collection of books ala lord of the rings or harry potter. You cannot skip the expansions as they all conect together.

Wish that you give it a try, it's such an amazing story and a pretty good community for an MMO The first two expensions are also Free without time restrictions so if you just want to try it without commitment (subscription) you can Hope you'll enjoy it!

man the story of this game is incredible. even hearing certain motifs in the music make me choke up thinking back on the MSQ

I would have highly recommended watching the patch trailers from 4.1 on, they are far shorter and give a better indirect overview without spelling out all the content like the previous patch trailers in ARR and Heavensward do.

I'm sure it's been said but if there is one trailer you should watch, it should be the Endwalker Job action trailer. It's probably the best one to watch to help you decide on a class.

If you do play through the entire main story campaign I will be right here watching sir! Ive seen about 4 of my other fav creators run through it and it never gets old. The story is so good you will laugh and cry.

Can't wait to see you play! But yeah, I think you should skip the expansion teasers. They're just shorter versions of the Cinematics which you'll watch in full eventually. I think it dilutes the experience of just seeing the whole thing in its epic entirity.

I was going to say this if nobody else has. It's one thing to watch a teaser a few months before the full cinematic, but to watch a teaser 5 minites before the cinematic must diminish the impact of it a bit.

I like watching people react to the trailers, they are so well made. and this is your reaction without playing the game. as someone who has played since a realm reborn myself imagine how hard these trailers hit when you know the characters/plot sometimes going back and watching them gives me chills.

Yes, Alexander is a recurrent summon in FF. In XIV, Summons are bosses.

Please SKIP the Endwalker TEASER. Just watch the Endwalker Cinematic, so you can get the full experience in the Cinematic.

I don't think you should have watched the SHB teaser honestly, that defeated the point of watching the trailer in and of itself bc you already saw most of it...

Play on PC or console. It's the same experience since Japan is way more co sple focused and it has great support for mouse and keyboard as well as controller so you can mix and match to fit your own playstyle. I personally play with a controller and keyboard. There's also cross play so you can play with your friend as long as you're on the same data center or server.

There is a main cast of characters which you join with your custom character, who is also THE main character, and you become their most important member and everybody recognizes your deeds throughout the expansions. Characters will eventually adress you as "Warrior of Light", "Champion of X", "Hero of Y", "Liberator of Z", "Stealer of pants" (that's a very specific one), and so on. And if you go out of your way to do some side content, that might also get acknowledged and mentioned in scenes throughout the main story.

The main gist of Final Fantasy XIV, to bottom line it, is essentially _your_ story. It revolves around your character but with many NPCs playing a major role, whether directly or indirectly. Your story is what you make it in terms of classes you choose as well because certain classes will provide slight changes in the storylines of some expansions, usually in the dialogue. Also, several of the classes are based on past FF characters: Dragoon = Kain Gunbreaker = Squall _(though the fighting stance for girls is based on Lightning's)_ -- and some of Seifer and Lightning mixed into the moveset. Dark Knight = it has Cloud's weapon-size and stance with it Machinist = Balthier And there are many more references made throughout the entire storyline, both visually and through mention by the characters.

I'm not sure if its included in the spread you have, but "Break the Limit" is an amazing SE video that showcases "Limit Breaks" (I.E.: the mega-attack each class gets when they get 3 full bars filled in their limit break gauge.) (For dragoon, that was the big blue dragon they summon to attack an enemy.) It's a really fun video to watch since it includes music from Shadowbringers. I also highly recommend watching job action trailer for Endwalker since it shows off each job at full lvl 90 (as of this comment). Also the Endwalker job action trailer is just really fun.

That brown-haired man you're seeing in all the characters is a stand-in for the player character, but is also the MC. Your player character is treated like an actual character in the story.

Definitely watch the Endwalker job actions trailer when you get to it since it’s the most updated versions of the classes and show off WAAAAY more of their actions so you can get a visual feel for them. The shadowbringers one is cool to watch as well so it won’t be a waste to watch they’re really good! Also if it isn’t already on the list watch the Break the Limit trailer. It showcases all of the Limit Break 3s every job included up to shadowbringers can do and it’s BEAUTIFUL!

It's actually quite an adventure to go through, from the main story to the side quests, and with the new tweeks they've done to the early part of the game it's actually the perfect time to jump in! Glad to see another of my fav content creators try the fame that has made full grown men cry, hope you like your stay in Eorzea - nor Erozea please, it's a bit triggering to hear the misspronunciation - however long it is :D

Answering a few of the questions 1) Yes, you are the Main character of the story, represented by the plain faced dude from the trailers and you have a big supporting cast, HOWEVER you will meet different characters and npcs who are their main characters of their own stories, fleshing out the universe of the game. 2) There are no OP classes, the class balance is extremely good and even if some jobs do more dps than others, the game incentivizes having a varied party and every kind of content can be cleared by any Job, no exceptions (Dps difference between classes is usually based on their skill ceiling and base difficulty of the job, but it's still minimal) 3) Game is crossplay and its developed as such from the beggining so both pc and console versions are pretty much identical, aside from the obvious like load times and modding/addons. Graphics and performance on base ps4 is still very solid to this day. I also recommend watching at least Endwalker's job action trailer for a current overview of how the jobs look!

37:19 That is the Warrior of light fighting one of his friends for practice. That is the canonical face of WoL (your character) each expansion he changes jobs, ARR he was a Warrior, Heavensward he went Dragoon, Stormblood Monk and also Samurai, Shadowbringers Dark Knight, and Endwalker finishes on Paladin. I guess he likes the tank jobs seeing as 3/5 of them are tanks the rest DPS. Not sure what he is in the new one it is either Machinist or a new class, probably pirate related, we will see next year I guess.

The benchmarks are program put out by SE a little before a new xpac is released to make sure ur PC can handle it.

One of the best features is that the game is crossplay between pc and playstation systems 4 and 5 shich is tied to a square enix account so your friend will have no issue playing with you unless you dont make a character on their world/ server

1. Benchmark trailers are ones that come out prior to the game release, to make sure your PC can handle the game graphics. 2. Our character is the Protagonist in this, but in trailers it is represented by a male character dubbed Meteor (or derplander for the memes) 3. Game does get much smoother and does improve a lot starting in HW, because they were out of the woods and could finally focus on their own narrative and not on trying to salvage 1.0 and also build a while new foundation (especially since they had no way of knowing if they would even manage it, so it was a huge risk they took releasing and creating the narrative of ARR) 4. Dragoon is basically a spear class, with it's lore tied to HW (so can't tell ya without giving spoilers). Fun fact though; if you level Lancer/Dragoon in ARR, you will get special text at certain scenes because of you being a Dragoon. 5. In ARR, you start off with a low level variant of the job you want to play (so for Dragoon you level Lancer from level 1-30, then you unlock Dragoon at 30 and level that from then on out). Starting in HW however for the new jobs released they got rid of the low level variant and you just unlock the job itself, however it will start 30 levels below the cap for that expansion (So for Dark Knight, which is the one with the big sword in the HW benchmark, you start at level 30 as the cap for HW was 60). 6. Each expansion has Meteor in a highlighted job that is like the mascot job of that expansion. So for HW it was Dragoon, in Stormblood it was Monk and Samurai, etc.

The game has full crossplay between PC and PS4/PS5. So if your friend plays on any playstation console you should be able to play together, he could even use a keyboard on his console to more easily use the ingame chat (is what I do)

The Benchmarks are a test engine, to check if your pc can take the game in various sitaution (lots of entity on screen, bloat of visual effect, quick camera changes, loading time)

The default Hyur Midlander (affectionately dubbed Derplander by the community) is meant to be a stand in representing the character that you play.

PC or Console, it's cross-play, so you can play with your friend regardless of your choice, just go with whichever you would prefer there. Just be sure to choose to play on the same Data Center as them so you can play with them. If you can get on the same server too, that makes it easier, but you can freely jump between servers on the same data center if you can't get on the same server. (They'll be adding the ability to jump between data centers in the same region in the future too, but that's not yet available.)

The good thing is that regardless of what system you buy it on. PC or Console you're in full blown crossplay anyways. And the controls and gameplay on both is so well done that you dont feel handicapped on either of them.

You're canonically the Warrior of Light in your adventure. There are other characters in the game that fight alongside you throughout the adventure, but the story is about you. You are very much the chosen hero of the world destined to save it from evil; they get around having other player characters in your party by simply calling them "other adventurers" that you call upon to aid you, but now they've begun working a Trust System into the game, which allows you to utilize NPCs as other party members for four-person dungeons (and they work pretty well, too; I've only used them a couple of times, and they've only been in the game since Shadowbringers, but the AI for the NPCs is very good at fighting against the AI of the enemies and also not dying). 15:30 Yeah, there are, I believe, around 20 different jobs in the game currently. And yeah, the mages are strong; Black Mage deals the most DPS damage of any class in the game currently. Dark Knight, from what little I know of it (haven't played it enough to really get how it works), isn't super-complicated, but it is tough; basically it's a tank that hurts itself to make itself stronger. For the record, I played through the main story as a ninja, and I don't know if I'd recommend that or not; the ninja is weird and very complicated compared to other jobs in the game. 18:30 I'd say PC, and the game is cross-playable across all three versions (PC, PS3, & PS4), so you'd be able to play with your console friend if you get it on PC. 24:20 It's Ravanna, Fourfold Master of the Blade. You are the MC. The guy in all the cinematics is just a representation of your character. Also, this game is cross platform between pc, ps4/ps5 and mac. I personally recommend playing on PC as you get more versatility with the hud and can type more easily. I was more of a console gamer before I started ffxiv, so I play with a ps4 controller on pc. I still get the comfortability with a controller but can have the versatility of being on a pc as well.

So much content and a story that grips you until the end like any great FF game. Not to mention a mostly amazing community. They really want to make this game appealing to regular final fantasy fans. While having you play this to completion would be a dream come true, I understand how difficult it would be to add to your list

Love seeing hype reactions to trailers for FFXIV, but I gotta say lad, you're absolutely GUTTING your own experience with the cinematics by watching the teaser versions and skipping through scenes you saw in the full version. I know this is ages out of date by now, but if you ever react to the Dawntrail trailer, do yourself a favour and just watch the full version, the experience is so much better seeing the full trailer in its final cut

Just uh.... keep in mind that A Realm Reborn is your typical MMO story. While its not bad, its not great either. But after that, its just keep increasing and increasing to the point that it turn into top tier Final Fantasy story. So yeah, ARR is just a setup for the greatness to come

So others have answered your questions about story and character, I will point out a few mechanics things. You mentioned in the Heavensward Job Actions that you would struggle to pick a class - don't worry too much about that, you are not locked in to your class, you can freely switch whenever you want (after level 10) to another if you don't like the one you started with, or even if you want a change. You can play on either PC or console - the game is cross-play enabled so regardless of what system you use you can play with your friend on console. You can even use controller on PC if you feel so inclined - the controller support for this game is fantastic. The only thing you need to make sure of is that you are on the same data centre. The same server would be best but is not essentual, as long as you are on the same data centre (Chaos or Light) You also asked if Mages were OP - not really, the job balance in this game is incredibly well done, any and every class are viable at the highest level of content. Play what you enjoy the most and it will probably be what you are best at. Looking forward to seeing you start your journey! This is probably one of the best FF stories in the entire series.

people who watch these trailers without first playing the prior story miss out in so much feeling. The reveals these trailers gave when moving from one expansion to the next was extraordinary. Its a shame to see you see these with no context, no big reveals, not knowing how important little things are in each one. real shame.

The early job actions trailers are kinda of meh compared to the new ones, so I really recommend you watch the last one they made, it shows every class and I think is really cool

It's played cross-platform, so long as you and your friend pick the same server it doesn't matter if you play on PC or they play on console you'll be able to play together. Personally I think this is one of the best selling points of this MMO in particular.
