What is the standard you’re setting for yourself?
Being able to keep a promise to yourself may be one of the most important things you can ever do, and yet it’s something most of us struggle with. Instead of beating yourself down, learn the foundational skills and ideas you need to master to be able to change your life and extend your capacity for success.
“The only thing that matters is how you feel about yourself when you are by yourself.”

Ed Mylett’s experience with his father isn’t the kind of experience people anticipate success to be on the other side of, yet he’s joining Tom for a second time to discuss the reason he wrote his new book, The Power of One More: The Ultimate Guide to Happiness and Success, following the loss of his father.
If you’re in a place struggling with reaching your true potential, meeting you highest self, and achieving greater levels of success, Ed shares why getting on the other side of your day to day inconveniences is the best path forward.
Change your relationship with pain and discomfort and stop allowing your shame and embarrassment to disqualify you from the life you were meant to live.

QUOTES:
“You’ve changed the standard of your life and you’ve built this superhuman type of self-confidence that I don’t only do what I say what I’m going to do, I do one more than I say I’m going to do and that’s something almost no one is willing to do so I ‘m going to get things almost nobody is going to get.” [2:06]
“There’s an insidious form of neglecting your children [...] it’s not pursuing your potential and your dreams [5:40]
“If I could transform the internal parts of me that the eternal results that I was going to produce would be that much more extraordinary.” [10:01]
“The truth is I’ve probably been successful in spite of the way I’ve treated myself, not because of it.” [11:41]
“Someone who never changes their mind, someone who never acknowledges that their wrong about something, is someone that I don’t really want to be around and spend a lot of time with…” [22:32]
“The mess you have in your life, the things you are most ashamed of and embarrassed by that you think are the most insignificant, that disqualify you the most are probably the very things that will qualify you to connect with another human being, [...] to change their life.” [28:48]
“I think success is that when your external life matches your vision for it, whatever that is.” [46:33]
“When you get to a peak state, link it to something physical.” [53:56]

What is your favorite takeaway from Ed?
@NathalieLazo

That everyone has a story and we can use that story to inspire someone else instead of having it bringing us down because in this life, it isn’t about us. Every challenging situation should be a motivation to keep going and visualizing that one day, we will share our story and impact one person at a time with it. Fully understand on the concept of getting 1% better everyday! Thank you for having Ed on the show, he’s great. Both of you are! 👏🏼💪🏼💯👌🏼

My favorite takeaway is the belief that "I am the ONE!" I've just finished a 30 year law enforcement career up here in Silicon Valley (San Jose, Ca). Since retirement last year I've written a personal development inspirational book called, Live Life on Purpose, ' which will be released in June. I'm a high school drop out who was on probation for assault before I even hit high school. I feel like I am the "ONE" in my family. I've also ran close to a hundred marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon 4 times in a row. Tom, I've watched and been inspired by you for many years. Thank you for sharing your incredible gift of being Legendary to the world 🌎. 💯👏🏽👐🏽

Growing up in music I’ve always heard teachers and mentors say “play every note like it’s your last,” but no one has made that point better than Ed. You could really feel in your gut the point he was trying to make.
When he said "someone who never admits their wrong or takes accountability for what they have done, I dont want to be around them". I agree completely with that. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, no sense is pretending we are omnipotent.

In every one of these interviews I always take something away from it that has an accumilittive effect on me. Truly great people you have on here Tom and you delve into people's stories tremendously.
We had Lisa on Ed's show and now we have Ed on Tom's show! Man what a blessing it is to have access to all 3 of you.

This message is for someone who needs to hear this and will fully understand it... You are not define by your circumstance or your past. It’s not what happened to you that determines your success in life; it is how you deal with those circumstances that determines your success in life. You are strong, you are capable and practice forgiveness (Forgiveness is for you; forgive your parents or anyone whom we have chosen to hurt us, to begin the process of healing and freedom. Remember: Forgiveness is for you to be freed, healed and happy. It’s a RESET BUTTON) and practice gratitude everyday. This will change the course of your life forever. Love you always and I believe in you wholeheartedly no matter what ✨❤️ - Nat

First of all: Props to you for trying to motivate people. But "It’s not what happened to you that determines your success in life" is wrong and ignorant towards reality. If you lose you legs in an accident your success as a professional athelete seems quite determined by what happened to you, doesnt it?

“… attach your confidence, your identity, your worth to your INTENTIONS…”! That hit me like a ton of bricks! I’ve heard the Wayne Dyer story before of how Ed ran into him on the beach; but I’ve never heard that part before. I’ve been on a self-development journey for the past 7+ yrs; & at times I feel like I’m not achieving my true worth. But no matter what happens; I know my INTENTIONS are to serve, to help ppl & to make an impact. I needed to hear this . Thank you Tom & Ed; for all you continue to do, to help change lives! 🙌🏼🙏🏻💪🏼
Thank you Ed, love you! And glad you're treating yourself more gently.
Ed…. I have always looked up to you… you have inspired me beyond words…. But this interview is so immensely profound and touched my heart. I resonated SO MUCH about being more kind to myself… I identified with your experience with training the body…. As well as being in service of others at my expense, and always having beat on myself in the past…. Being gentle and loving towards myself is making me better and more peaceful every day. Love you so much and God Bless you.
A Most powerful and life changing conversation, thank you Tom.
There's something special that happens when you two are together. Tom you bring out the best in Ed. Your first interview with him is one of my favorites ever. You two get beautifully comfortably real together. Thank you for bringing him back. You two are two of my favorite people I've never met. (Lisa too.)
Absolutely blown away by this episode. What Ed said about Kobe's last few days broke me man. I loved that guy. I now see my relationship with time in a different light. Power to you both. Thank you 💪
As soon as it was over, I knew I had to watch it again, probably more times than 3. I never heard of Ed before but I'm an instant fan. Can't wait to read the books.
Humility keeps me connected, keeps me learning...🌎 Thanks.
This is exactly where I am in my struggle, exactly what I have been hungering for - the idea of holding myself accountable for my time at such a high level - I’ve felt the anxiety and pressure of this churning over the last year but wo a tool or idea what to do about it - thinking of these days within days - blowing my mind. That’s just what I needed to stretch next level in my life. An amazing insight. Thank you!
WOW! What an exquisite conversation, Tom! It was like a beautiful ballet of the Yin and the Yang of two extraordinary men who have truly come into their Power. You have really done the 'Work' and the work you do is SO important. Thank you for opening the door for so many other men to open up to deep and rich parts of themselves that they didn't even know were there. What a beautiful and essential service you so generously share at a time when our world needs it most. Namaste

Ed you keep me continuing to help other alcoholics with your sharing I have been accused by my daughter and brother of spending too much time with drunks. My wife supports me My last drink and drug was 12-15-2001. Nothing so much insures me from drinking than intensive work with other alcoholics.
I love this video. You both are amazing and so inspirational. I am subscribed to both of your channels, and today this video popped up with both of you in it. What an inspiration to men who have really struggled in our society to feel free to feel and express themselves. Gave me tears and chills watching this. I am the oldest of 11 siblings and can really relate with Ed on needing to be more gentle to myself. A balance between the 2 is so important. Thank you for what you do and sharing with the world.🤗💚
So many golden nuggets in this episode. Grateful for Ed.
Love this !! Thanks Tom and Ed ! Ed is an amazing listener even when he s the interviewee !! Feedback for Tom I love impact theory and have been watching for years. I feel like now you spend much time asking the question than the guest takes to respond. And that you get into somewhat related but intellectual conceptual discussions that side track the main conversation. I personally enjoy and get more when questions are to the point. Thanks !

I love your honesty and sincerity.
What a great conversation Tom!! Loved it !
The two 🐐 this is awesome to see them together. I’m big into both podcasts independently and they speak to a lot of very similar ideologies, but they also have some very different ideologies so it’s good to see them get together and be geniuses.
Had a karate instructor as a kid, I was probably 8-9 years old and it still sticks with me at 40, "You can see a CAN (Physically, as in a soda can, as he would gesture), but you CANNOT see a can't!" Thanks Tom and Ed for these, ready to level up!
Thank you Tom and Ed for your wisdom, and great tips. In the space of modern personal development you guys are two of my faves, and then probably Gary Vee. I love that you guys communicate in what I call my english. Everything is super clear, concise, to the point, no bs. I love that. Love you guys. Thank you. Glad I watched this one. ❤️

I wish I had the power to like this one more time. This was beyond hard hitting, the idea of becoming "The One" is such a powerful driver.
Tears flowing thru most of this episode. Thanks Ed & Tom!!!
i bought the book after watching the last time ed was on (15 minutes ago) and ill tell you right now I'm the one, it's me, I'm the one who is shouldering the brunt of the transformative powers that are affecting my family, I was brought up poor and decided this isn't for us anymore... I love my family and wont see them struggle anymore. I hope you're the one reading this messege.
This gave me chills! Thanks again Tom.
This is probably one of the top 5 interviews I’ve ever watched.
Ed Mylett is amazing, what a great human...his topic on Time and ROI on time is critical. And if you haven't seen him behind the scenes, he truly is intense.
Man, that dude rocked my world tonight. Awesome interview Tom, as usual.
I'm also 51 and as I grew up my Father and Grandfather taught me something kind of along the lines of what his book do 1 more is about which was to go the extra mile in everything you do and you will get more joy more happiness and more respect from others and you will respect yourself more which leads into an overall more healthy life mentally and physically 👍🏻 but I would still love reading his book and bettering myself through his mistakes and through his achievements.
Dope stuff yall. I love the disagree stuff and explaining it out and talking about it...watched you Tom forever...helped me so much. Both guys are rockin it! Super grateful for this show particular...especially with the pandemic, I turned To alcohol, from being a super athlete...this was a very special episode. I honor you both
That whisper of 6 more days brought me to tears! So real!
Love you both, bros. I am a faithful Muslim, seeing Ed being a person of faith, his messaging hit home for me. Also my younger me had similar, harsher experiences as shared by both of you legendaries.
I love Ed!!! I take away EVERYTHING!!
Awesome, thanks both ❤️❤️❤️
