Loved this! One of the biggest things I've learned for decluttering (mostly for clothing), is if I want to donate stuff, I will keep it in a "donate" pile in my closet for a couple months. And if I haven't thought about the clothes, I donate them. But every so often, I'll grab something back. It just gives me the space to make sure I absolutely want to donate. I've gotten rid of things too many times before and wished I hadn't.

Have you guys done your decluttering for the season yet? I feel like my "spring cleaning" hit me a little later this year so I wanted to reflect on being in the best mental space before jumping into the hard decision-making and I found these tips to be really helpful to keep me focused on what I need and don't need moving forward. If you guys have any channel recommendations for cleaning motivation or methods that helped you let me know!

Thank you so much for the realistic tips! I have gotten rid of sentimental things in the past and still regret it to this day - if it brings you joy, it's ok to keep it💗

It is so important to be in the right mindset to declutter. You should really know yourself about what you feel comfortable keeping and letting go. I use it as a time to shop my closet and see how I can make new outfits. And I tell myself how many solids of a certain color or print I like so I can take inventory of whether I need to replace them because I consider them basics. Overall, If you look and feel good in it, it’s a keeper. But if you haven’t worn it in a year (maybe not in this pandemic life), and especially if you don’t fit in it even if I love it, it is time to let go and bless someone with it. I also realize that I prefer boring solid print and polka dot blouses, plain or boring print skirt and plain dresses for work. But, I learned I love prints and polka dots for everything else, and it’s ok to keep these items because I love them and wear them!

When you mentioned making a list for things you are missing, I totally thought you meant like all the hair ties, orphaned socks, lost accessories, or the surprise $20 bills tucked in a bag I don't like anymore that all gets unearthed when I declutter 🤣

Love all the tips but especially tip 2! I definitely get into those modes of tossing just everything to be as decluttered as possible, and then turning around and buying multiple replacements for something i had just tossed because I still needed it. +1 on the importance of mental health aspect as well! (also love your top!)

My tip is if something holds a lot of sentimental value and you have a hard time parting with it but you don't have any use for it anymore and it's just taking up space and collecting dust, take a picture of it and then let it go. I didn't know this video was going to be so centered on clothing declutter, so my tip doesn't make a lot of sense with clothes, but it's more applicable for decluttering other random objects you might hold on to.
