I’ve owned an M2c for around a year now. As you said, if you are mainly using it for city driving/stop start in traffic the mpg is crap, lucky to get mid 20’s. However that is outweighed by how much fun it is to drive properly and just how sick it looks on the road. I also agree the dct box is fairly clunky/unresponsive mainly doing 3 point turns etc.

Hi... Many thanks for your most informative vid.... I was actually thinking of swapping my Range Rover Evoque for one ( and Yes for a Daily Driver )... made a few enquiries with a couple of Dealers and they offered me such a stupidly low offer for my car I took it no further... but Rangey ( diesel ) will regularly do close to 40mpg.... so your vid came as a bit od a shock because I do big miles.... so think I might just stick with my old Bus for the time being... Cheers though... Regards Rog

I've mapped mine with MHD and the fuel isn't any better - bit of an urban myth tbh. However, MHD also give you 3 gearbox maps to use (OE, GTS & CS) with the map pack. The GTS map really helps with the smoothness of the gear changes. Removed the harsh changes in sports+ and prevents the kangaroo effect at slow speed. Defo worth a look.

As an M2 comp owner I don't really have complaints on the fuel consumption. However, comparing it to other cars that can get 30 and up I can see where there are complaints but for a sports car 25 mpg is quite nice. I sometimes avg even 27 or higher but that's on road trips so it's a bit different. I never really did drop down to 19 even when I drive like a maniac. I do have the manual though so that could play a role in me saving more fuel. Plus for me it's only $38-45 to fill up every 5 days or so. I had a mustang prior and getting 17 mpg was great to me. Yes compared to other cars it's not that great but if you really think about it. It's not all that bad when you literally have a dodge hellcat getting nearly 7 mpg. All in All I love my m2 and I'll keep it forever.

I’d agree with your observations. I’m averaging 23mpg over 10k miles and that includes a majority of local driving - my little M135i with the ZF could easily get 40mpg on a motorway run but not the M2C. Smiled at the kangaroo comment, bloomin annoying when it happens. If I had anything further to add, the noise isn’t great and when your looking to navigate a speed bump infested road the hard ride can be a little frustrating. BUT, when the road clears and you give it the beans, it all makes sense. The only car I’ve driven that had a greater visceral feel (I’m limited in this area I’ll admit) was a 981 GT4 manual car with sports exhaust - that’s the dream!! Cheers, Kevin.

I got a m2c in black too, you are so right ahaha not ideal as a daily …. That’s why I have a Mazda3 order on the way, I drove this as a daily not only I spend like 5-6k a year a gas, I switched 4 sets of tires too… (71rs ,cup2) and I used it as a daily drive it everyday, those tires don’t last at all but I wanted the best tires cuz they really makes a difference. Cost on this thing is not pretty as a daily, oh well I learned.

The point about the DCT being lazy is 100% spot on. Fantastic when you are absolutely tearing it up, but sometimes if you are in comfort (efficient) and you suddenly need to accelerate it can be so slow. And the point about sport plus being kangaroo with the DCT is also spot on, numerous times I’ve looked like an idiot with the box… All in all I love my m2

So you find it difficult to shift the "flappy paddles" into a lower gear to get around traffic? As well you find it difficult to shift the "flappy paddles" into 2nd gear to avoid the kangaroo effect? You put a splitter on the front and now complaining as it's too low. Sounds like a host of 1st world problems. Solution: Buy a KIA.
