    I have this from Manfrotto, never used it though www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554343-REG/Manfrotto_454_454_Micrometric_Positioning_Sliding.html I think it's way to pricy for what you get, probably better to look for some kind of Chinese knock off brand. I started to use a motorized slider from Rhino that works great BUT I just realised that the best and free way is to shoot tethered with the software like Hasselblad's Phocus or Capture One or maybe even the totally free Canon Utility (not sure if it works) and then you just switch the focus in the software!

    hey great tutorial. nice to watch :) can I ask u if thats difference in "watch" photography if you have makro lens or not, it would be cool to make dial even closer and see everything inside. Croping not working like that.

  • @botvidsson

    @botvidsson

    5 жыл бұрын

    In this kind of photo you probably don't need a makro lens but as you say, if you want to go close up on the dial you must have a macro lens. If you like to do super macro shots you need another specialised lens, I happen to have that. Yes, maybe it's time for a macro shot next episode! 😃

  • @botvidsson

    @botvidsson

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes sorry, it was a bit unclear. You can forget about the soft box, I did not use that flash in the final shot. So, it's only two flashes. One from top and one for the background. The idea with the soft box was to get a bit more light on the crown side of the watch and then add only that area in Photoshop BUT, I forgot to use the soft box image in the retouching process so. Just forget about that light, it will be more clear when I soon post the retouching video. Thanks /Martin

    Could you explain the part about, your C3 dial setting for live view. This caught my attention. But wasnt able to follow much.

  • @botvidsson

    @botvidsson

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well, I just program one of the modes C1, C2 or C3 so the scene look the same in live view. For example, I shoot in Manual mode at F13, 1/200, ISO100. When turing on live view that settings doesn't work - screen pitch black. I then start to change the settings so I can see the modelling lights in live fire mode. Probably something more like F2.8, 1/200, ISO800, White balance Light bulb or what ever it's called - just changing the settings so it looks the same in live view as when taking a shot in Manual mode. And saving this setting to C1-C3. Hope you got that... it's late here in Stockholm... .)

    You could do that but there's a limit how "high" you can go on the aperture until the overall quality/sharpness goes bad. I don't exactly remember what I said but I guess I stayed at f11 coz we were doing the focus stacking. To get the best quality I should probably shoot at maximum f8 or something like that. Every lens has a sharpness sweet spot, if you focus stack, stay at the sweet spot. When I shot with my Hasselblad I always shoot at f13 or f16, the 120mm lens, sharpness sweet spot.
