The problem is he doesn't get away from the bulliers, in a prior video he is bullied, he still comes back and roughly dives between the kids, then doesn't leave. Granted he doesn't have any obligation to leave, but when the woman slightly pushes him he already takes the knife out, and apparently hits her. Even just before they push him he doesn't escape when his back is open. His friends are IIRC nearby too. So they probably thought he acted out of anger/confrontation instead of fear, confident with his knife. A very close call imo, I'm also leaning towards guilty, only those annoying kids need to be charged too. They literally began all this, and played a serious part in the death. If I saw the video only from the first shove in the water, then I'd say it was rightful self-defense.

He really effed himself by going to toss the weapon after the fact, putting on clothes to make himself less recognizable, tried to avoid police, pretending that he did not know what went on during the altercation, and lying to police like when he said he took the knife he used from one of the teens. All those things scream someone who knew they did something wrong.

There is no way the verdict had no reasonable doubt. The jurors gave the lesser charge and watched the video how many times. If one had any doubt that wouldn’t have taken place all they did was compromise on the verdict and I hope the judge sees and is confident that this case is one the jury got wrong. The jury got it right. Miu, was acting like a vigilante. He was angry the kids were drunk & teasing him & he decided he was going to teach them a lesson. A fearful person would have backed off & gotten out of there. Miu, snuck away, ditched the knife, kept the truth of his actions from his friends and law enforcement, feigned innocence & a lack of knowledge regarding events, lied about multiple facts regarding the attack, & he started the violence. At the beginning of the trial, I thought he was just defending himself. This isn't the case. He was "boiling". A normal person who killed someone in the act of defending himself would have been emotionally destroyed. Miu, hasn't displayed any emotionality at any time other than pleasure and arrogance. Heal well, Ryhley, Dante, A.J., & Tony. RIP Isaac.

They escalated it, the assaulted him, there were 13 people surrounding him in the water and what do you expect a man to do? They knocked him in the water and at one point it looked like they were trying to push him under. Shame on the jurors and LE, these "victims" and their parents for raising them this way. Why weren't these teens charged with underage drinking, public intoxication, harassment, assault, and why were the people who gave them alcohol not charged? @@someoneonyoutube181 The basis of the conviction is the fact that you cannot legally use lethal force (a knife or other lethal weapon) unless you are facing imminent death or great bodily harm. The jury's decision was correct. Being pushed into ten inches of water (especially as a response to striking Ms. Coen) is not a lethal threat. Mr. Miu had no bruises or injuries. You cannot "proactively" start stabbing people because you're either offended by their behavior or fear them. Miu's subsequent attempts to disappear and then repeatedly lie after being apprehended is an admission of guilt in the commission of his crimes. Why hide or lie if you believe this is a straightforward matter of legitimate self-defense. The fact that he and his wife divorced in March to protect their assets from any subsequent civil suits clearly indicates that they fully expected what would happen today - conviction on all counts. The jury didn't get it wrong. You got it wrong. My advice? Don't ever think that you can get away with this type of behavior. It's not self-defense. You'll wind up doing jail time just like Mr. Miu. Did the jurors do the same wrong doing as those kids? Did the fallow one leader of the pack? You take 12 people … six 18 yr olds and six 50 ur olds. Give them all of the facts at the same time and the verdict options to choose from and the laws pertaining to the case. Then let them decide for themselves without any outside influence from someone else’s opinion and see what happens . That should have been a hung jury but unfortunately people influence others decision and that’s not fair. If you are gonna be a leader in the river or jury then be the leader to encourage your friends not to act that way and that again is where the problem started the kids shouldn’t even been drinking who gave them the alcohol ??? They were antagonists. Parents need to teach their children to be respectful and responsible. If you want to act an ass, be prepared for whatever that comes with period. I do not agree with the lying that he did after which is a normal human reaction to have after seeing someone dead/hurt etc at your hands. If it was anyone in these comments, I highly doubt you'd go verbatim about what happened when asked. Moments like that can be a blur and traumatizing. But to say that was his intent was wild. He was being picked on and it was unnecessary of them to be acting like that toward that old man. Anyone of you would've defended yourself in the exact same way if you were being surrounded.
