Clapton, every solo is different, even from the same song. Master of improvisation.

a lot of people say Clapton was washed out and doesn't deserve his spot on the top 3 but his ability to stay relevant throughout the generations, and his unmistakable ability to improvise is unmatched when considering that it is never out of place, never an accidental moment of silence it is always fitting right in where it needs to and that's what makes him so great.

I've been listening to 4 or 5 different versions of Crossroads that have occurred over the years for the past hour. While I appreciate and acknowledge that Clapton is a massively talented musician, I've never been a fan. If I'm going to listen to mainstream blues, it's gonna be Stevie Ray. However, this one video did raise my appreciation of Clapton very much. Out of all the videos I watched, this one was the best produced and had the highest level of his gifted improvisation. Take for example the weird "honks" at around 2:13 and 4:38, and the way, way outside the "major minor pentatonic box" notes he threw out that were so wrong they were incredibly right. They sent awesome chills down my spine. Anyone else had done that they would have been thrown off the stage. But this proves Clapton owns his guitar, that stage, the blues and his half century reputation. Again, while I'm not his biggest fan, I certainly admire the hell out of the guy. His amazing reputation is well deserved. 👍

One of the best songs played by one of the best
He reinvented this tune and it is brilliant.
