Let’s face it, his stroke is brilliant however he can’t maintain the kick which really helps in his stroke type. In the 100 and 200 his very strong kick allows his reach and propulsion but in the 400 he can’t quite maintain it long enough and hence he starts to ‘bob’ and becomes quite gallopy, if that’s a word.

@GeorgeGeorge-by2lf no he doesn’t, he changes between a full gallop and a more hip driver style during the 400, you can clearly see his technique change throughout the race. His kick is probably the most important thing for his hybrid freestyle (gallop) without it he doesn’t get the propulsion or rhythm.

He has to strengthen his own ability in endurance. But freestyle is only the beginning. He have to proof his qualities in breaststroke and backstroke. And he may need a professionell education in breathing techniques like a top singer in an opera under full activity.

His stroke looks a lot less smooth than it did in Rome. Very lope-y, lots of up and down without holding as much water.
