@@Ilovemunchlax1 That full body suit in Beijing was still at least 50% polyurethane. While not 100% polyurethane like Biedermann's suit in 2009, the suit still had a big impact on that 1:42.96. Popovici is going a 1:42.97 in textile jammers at the age of 17, and still has more to come. Even considering the textile rankings, Phelps' 1:43.86 is still third all time.

He did try his absolute best the last 50 and even put his head down the last few meters to sqeeze out some extra hundrets. He didnt break the wr because on this day at that moment he wasnt able to swim any faster
