Every corporate product we use is chemical chemical chemical which ruins natural resources from exhaustion of water to pollution of air to spills on ground that ruins soil. The make up industry is heinously polluting. The damn Hollywood blows up stuff, travels and causes huge pollution not to mention the pollution caused in filming & distribution. These guys aren't asked to stop, common people are not asked but forced to sacrifice. The government doesn't work for people it works for corporates. It's not for small business it works for MNCs. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. You couldn't open your gym or your open your your church or do your home visits or open your street stalls during covid but you could film a movie and tv series just fine. The priorities are fkd up. I don't blame just the govt, but also the people who keep buying corporate stuff and fall for greedy consumerism trap. Buy small business.

At 400k/yr. and 8 yrs in office, how did he became a very wealthy man who possessed several mansions and real estates that worthed several millions of dollars?!?!? I like to use this as an example. My grandparents owned an Amana freezer for their entire 65 year marriage. It only stopped running when the power went out. It never needed one repair during that time. The thing was a tank. It wasn’t HE of course, but it had very stout insulation. So that less efficient compressor didn’t have to actually work hard to keep the temp low. Now compare that to todays high efficiency appliances. You would go through about 5 to 6 for their average lifespan now during the same 65 years. There are most likely repairs that will be needed during that time too. The high efficiency might save some money in energy bills, but overall they would have paid a lot more during that time if they needed to switch to high efficiency models. High efficiency doesn’t mean saving money overall. However it does mean more complexity and usually less reliability.

Just have them run the numbers for total cost of ownership for the classic product vs. the new high-efficiency products. Include initial product costs, regular maintenance, lifespan, etc. My relative says her high-efficiency washer doesn't clean as well as her previous appliance, so she runs it longer or twice. She gets no savings, plus she spends more for special detergents and wastes more time waiting to do the next load. She's afraid of the cost to repair or replace the equipment when it breaks down due to extra wear from more usage.

Anyone care to guess what that might cost per household? It will likely run into the thousands of dollars, and everyone will want theirs installed at the same time...monstrous. I'm just a few weeks shy of 70, been a "DiY Guy" the majority of my life, and still do 95%+ of the repairs and maintenance on our cars and appliances. I can attest with certainty to what many of the Professional Service Techs are saying here, and that is: 1) This woman does NOT know what she's talking about, and 2) Some of the most EXPENSIVE items you'll ever own are the ones classed as "High Efficiency", whether it be your Clothes Washer, to your Refrigerator, to the Car you drive! Investing in a "High Efficiency" clothes washer that "Uses 70% Less Water", means absolutely NOTHING when you're having to change out a $300 CIRCUIT BOARD (and/or other "Cheap Chinese Crap" made parts!) every 6 to 24 months! That "High Efficiency Refrigerator" that uses so much less electricity than your parents & grandparents units did?? - - Well, its true, it does use less electricity, BUT when you're faced with needing a NEW COMPRESSOR 2-3 years from now, and the Service Tech tells you (in all honesty) "It not worth the $600 to $1000 that I'm going to have to charge you to install another (Crap, "Hi-Efficiency") compressor, so you might as well go buy another (Crap, "Hi-Efficiency") Refrigerator," while you remember that your parents and grandparents' units ran for 20 YEARS OR MORE without so much as a "hiccup", well, you do the math!! Driving that "High-Tech" & "Fuel Efficient" GDI (Gasoline, Direct Injection) Engine? Yeah, just wait until you get the bill at 40k-60k miles for having to have your valves "Walnut Bead-Blasted" in order to get all of the massive carbon buildup off of them, that's choking your engine or causing you to fail SMOG! Enjoying that "extra" 2-4 MPG that you're getting in your car with its new, "Hi-Tech" Transmission? - - Well, when your transmission FAILS just out of warranty (IF it makes it that far!) and you have to pay 6k-10k for a complete rebuild (using the same CRAP PARTS), you can "thank" the "experts" that forced the automakers to put feather-weight light parts (or plastic!!) into that tranny, in order to "Reduce the Weight", in order to meet the Government's "CAFE" fuel mandates. The ONLY thing that government does "well" is to MAKE LIFE MORE EXPENSIVE and BURDENSOME for the common man, as they put one INCOMPETENT boob after another into positions of authority and "expertise"!!

OMG she is such a liar. When does increasing efficiency of appliances make them last longer? It is tough to get a refrigerator to last 5 years now. My mother is still using the refrigerator my dad bought for her in 1967! What has changed?

I have been repairing home appliances for over 45yrs now, and I tell everyone that any "savings" that exists will get wiped out by a factor of at least 4 on the first repair that they need because they break down before 10yrs . In the past, I used to repair most home appliances when they reached 11-14 yrs, some like the old Maytags are still running after 40 yrs. Now I am seeing unrepairable breakdowns in as little as 3-5 yrs. The cost of parts and labor will exceed the value of the appliance. Plus ,the more "energy efficient" , the more they cost to replace. Compare the energy labels on the old model vs the new and the "savings" is eaten up by increased repair costs and also the more we save on utilitys, the faster the utility companies "raise" their rates. These people are so "educated" they just become stupid. Basic commom sense and critical thinking simply does not exist anymore. Like the old saying "Stupid is as Stupid Does" I just hope I can hang in there til Nov 25 , 2024 and maybe we can get some sanity back into this "Insane" world

What people need to understand is what they ( shadow govt.) wants is for the public not to have appliances period or a home of their own to put them in. Many people have no idea what is coming their way. The evil Ted Turner said " there are too many people using too much stuff" . It is you that they want gone. Depopulation has already begun and they will escalate it very soon. Time to wake up.

Exposing this information and this administrations corruption of the truth, in an intelligible way, to voting Americans is an on going necessity that will serve improve America's chances to continue exist !

In what way is she answering for anything? She lied, ommited, or deflected every question and will have no consequences at the end of this. And you know damn well she "doesn't know" who bought her stocks because she sold them to a third party that is keeping them for her. All these politicians need to go to Hell where they belong. Sooner rather than later.

I can tell you as a former test engineer, former product development engineer, and a current auto repair shop owner that anytime you hear that the government announces their new standards are going to save you money, you''d better put your hand on your wallet! I earn a great living repairing all of these efficiency gimmicks. She has absolutely no clue about what she is talking about.

In the South, we have a saying that applies to Secretary Granholm's testimony. "Don't worry about the horse being blind. Just load the wagon." In this case, she doesn't have to know what she's talking about. She just has to sell the greeniac agenda. I'm sure it comes with a side of the highest quality snake oil.

I worked for a tier one supplier in the automotive industry. The government, especially the EPA, would demand an increase in MPG and tell the public that they would save money by not buying so much gasoline. But the increased cost in development and manufacture of components and cars would far exceed the gas savings. And at the same time the DOT was demanding improved crash protection which increased vehicle weight which was counter-productive to increased fuel mileage. The people who end up in charge of various departments in government have never worked in those industries and haven't a clue about what it takes to meet their grand ideas.
