    Very enlightening. I'm 66 years old and spent my entire career in the oil/gas valve manufacturing business, half in Engineering and the other half in Sales/Marketing. I completely understand your frustration when you try to have a proper dialog with the manufacturer and get condescending, non--responsive attitude in return. Our company learned early on the value of listening to complaints from the field, and more importantly, ACTING on those complaints. First actions are to honor warranty, as they apparently have. But, the more important action is to adjust design/manufacturing aspects as necessary to improve the product. I'm [currently] not in the market for a turbo kit, but I can see the legitimacy of your concern. The engineering side of me concurs with your conclusions. Jackson Racing ignores these at their own peril. As always, thanks for sharing. Steve

    I don;t own a Honda Talon, but if I did, I would definitely not install a $6K piece of equipment to increase the performance without doing some serious investigations! Thanks for sharing this information, and SHAME on Jackson Racing for not listening to the customers!

    First off thanks for the content. As bad as a Polaris... 🔥 burn!! Unfortunately... my turbo kit is on order. I guess we need to weigh out repairing turbo vs replacing a belt. It's starting to look more enticing. Maybe we reach out to Honda to hold Jackson accountable. It's not just Jackson being dragged in the mud. Jackson has the monopoly being honda honors the factory warranty with Jackson's kit so maybe that's part of the lack of motivation to improve. Honda (any sxs dealer) doesn't recognize the turbo kit in the trade value. The krafts kit looked a little janky for lack of a better term (for now). It's really unfortunate Jackson has not tried to improved their product or apprecitiated your feedback. I got a turbo kit because I need the power for the dunes but I don't put nearly the miles on my talon.

    Thanks for your true honest opinion Russell. And this video is great for the talon community. I don’t know anyone that has as much seat time with a turbo talon then you. That header from bell engines is stout 👌🏼 and I can’t wait to see your car finished with all that HP 🤘🏼

    Sorry for your troubles… ack. I like your comment about being married to their product. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Trouble is, one never knows what it’s truly like on the other side until you are there and committed. While your ongoing issues with JR are inexcusable, I truly wonder if CW would be any better once you’ve committed and purchased their product? Seems that JR is more worried about $$, rather than doing the right thing. (Scrapping an order of 1,000 headers, because they need to pivot, and redesign it as one imperfect example.) Seems this is just a sign of the times we are living in IMO? Regardless, thank you so much for the invaluable service you are offering the community Russell, and the sacrifices you have have made! Youdaman!

    My Dad’s Talon is blown up cause the air filter is not worth a shit. He has 400 miles on it and has cleaned the air filter twice already. Somehow dirt got to the turbo and engine. Now it is hurt. Honda won’t warranty it. Jackson won’t warranty it. So he is out thousands of dollars to fix a new rig. Honda can eat my ass. I will never buy their crap again.

    This basically tells me that if I plan to turbo charge my Talon that I will start with engine internals and a bell header. Anyone that is wanting to make serious power and have great tune ability should look into a standalone ecu (ie motec). If I’m spending thousands of dollars to turbo charge, I’m going that route.

  • @gravesru

    @gravesru

    2 жыл бұрын

    You’ll need pistons, head studs, injectors etc, just a PPEI tune, not a separate ecu

  • @Chevy2Man

    @@gravesru I realize those other engine hard parts are needed as well but tuning with an engine with a flash after spending a bunch of money on building the engine is not a good idea. A stand-alone ecu with individual exhaust temp monitoring as well as air/fuel ratios would be optimal. Cody Phillips racing would be a good place to start.

    WOW1!! 😳 New to SxSs myself (aged out dirt biker) and was watching the Jackson with interest (because it got so much good press). But I live in Denver and ride up to 13k feet and had heard that the Jackson failed miserably at altitude, you just confirmed it. That they won't own their failures is inexcusable - no Jackson for me. As a hobby welder, I'd have gusseted that support bracket the first time it failed; that Jackson still hasn't fixed it is pathetic. I don't have the patience to go through the disappointments you have. Thank you for the video. 👍 As for Jackson's business practices and customer support - 🖕

    O2 sensors goes in the downpipe not in the header of a turbocharged engine. There is a tremendous amount of backpressure in the header that will throw the reading of the 02 sensor , especially wideband

  • @gravesru

    @gravesru

    2 жыл бұрын

    The O2 sensor goes in the exhaust, AFR gauge goes in the turbo exit pipe, and the dynojet dual wide band goes in the header.

    Because of this video I took a very close look at my header and the bracket. You can only guess what I found…..had the header welder for now until I can get a new header here. Bracket seems fine but will be addressing that as well. My bracket was loose a little back which is why I guessing the header cracked. 😡😡

    Hey Russel, way off of subject but you might take a look at Babbits online. The 2022 honda talon looks like they relocated the instrument cluster to the steer column. The response to your help to Jackson is even worse than what I got with a company when I told them how to fix their problem, they just ghosted me. I'm guessing his ego was hurt because before doing my mod I asked him his opinion and he said it definitely absolutely wouldn't work and I'd melt my engine down if I did it. As for K&Ns, I've never seen a clean intake tract with them with one exception, my Jeep. It only works because I frequently oil it without cleaning. I'd ditch it but haven't found anything else that'll fit yet.

    I noticed you changed your tune on the quality of the Jackson Turbo from two years ago video when you had 7k miles. Is the kit not strong enough to endure rigorous riding like in Baja? Please let me know if it is better to leave the car stock for better reliability? I am looking to buy and talon just for Baja trips which have have broken down a lot.

  • @gravesru

    It really depends how much you drive it. I go through a Jackson header every 1500-2000 miles and they’re around $700 each. If reliability is your primary concern, definitely leave it stock. If you want a little more HP and don’t mind additional break downs, go for the turbo kit!

    Do you think everyone with a turbo kit has a KZread channel and makes videos?? You have no idea how many people has reached out to me with turbo issues since the turbo kit was released. Especially, when the kit didn’t adjust for elevation in the first 6 months. 6 people had their engine blow up in the first week the kit came out, that’s why JR immediately released a 2nd version of the software to make them run extra rich to prevent more engine failures. I could ask why you’re the first negative comment in 1500 views?
