Wonderful drive experience! I always forget how much gear whine there is with manual gearbox Mercedes, even in early 70’s era.
Pinnacle of 50s automotive engineering 💪
I can't tell you enough how much I loved this video and how much goosebump it gave me! This video is just like my dream, which is to drive a SL down a beautiful road like this with my love in passenger seat. But now she is gone & so is my every dream! But still thank you for this amazing video anyway and I watch this often. It hurts man, it's reminds me of her but I still…

Hey man, i‘m really sorry to hear about your loss! I know the pain you feel. I’m happy I could lighten up your day a bit with my video, and in case you ever make it to Switzerland, send me a mail and we go for a drive! Thank you, keep your head up and see you soon!
Thank you for driving the car this way and sharing it with us!
Thank you so very much for this video, (in all the other videos the cars are driven like they are made of eggshells) I bought a 57 300SL at a chevy dealer near Philadelphia in 1969 for $5K ( I was 21 years old) the motor needed crankshaft bearings, and I had the engine rebuild by a friend that was a master mechanic from Germany. Off course being 21 I drove the car very hard, it was the most fun I had in my entire life. Obviously, I loved the car, but unfortunately, my parents talked me into going back to Germany with them, they brought me over when I was 14, and I could not afford to have the car shipped to Germany so I had to sell it. The sad part is I only stayed 3 months, I did not like it, so I could have kept it, I'm still kicking myself for that to this day.
What a lovely car! Thank you for sharing your great experience to this video!

Thank you very much! You're very welcome to like and subscribe to help me spread awareness of my channel. Next up I will upload a video of a Porsche 993 Turbo or BMW Z8 so stay tuned!
I got to drive in the baby version of this as a kid, the 190 Sl Roadster, a rare example with original paint and a record player under the dash on the passenger side, silver and red with a crack in the paint over the mercedes benz logo in the back, by far it was the nicest and most comfortable car I've ever been in, far better than the 230 Flatfaced Pagonda that followed it like I sat in one of those 10 years latter and it was like a cheap knock off, like a honda civic from the 80's with a flat floor and no leather save for the seats and the door guards, which were probably vinyl
Very nice. Coincidentally, I just watched " Kidd in a Sweet shop " youtube channel. She spent episode with exactly this colour and model car. It had 380,000 miles on it. You might want to watch it.
Thank you sooo much! This was so awesome!

Well, Enzo Ferrari considered the Jaguar E-Type as the most beautiful car ever built. I'm showing this car in one of my upcoming videos. But I agree with you :)
Yes indeed.

This or E-type?

Phu, that's a tough one. For me personally, the E-Type gives me more of a "sporty" feeling while the 300SL just sounds, looks and drives better. If they were valued at the same price, I would go for the Mercedes.

Both beautiful, but I would take the Benz.
You're supposed to drive it with old, dirty gloves?
@petroldriver

Well, I do have a set of new ones, but the ones I am wearing in the video belonged to my father for more than 20 years. After he passed away, I kept them since they fit me perfectly. Furthermore, it's nice to have something of him with me :)

Great video, but why the watermark? Really annoying and pointless, you give up the rights to your video as soon as you publish on YT. Thanks anyway.

Sadly soon all combustion cars, bikes including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime (BABVVO = Bundesabgasbespassungsverbotsverordnung)!!!!

Really need to fight back against that bullshit. You have unelected scumbags in the EU that think they control your lives. They may try it in America, but they haven't taken our guns, and when the tyranny gets too bad, I'm sure we will use them.
