WASHING + RETWISTING + STYLING MY LOCS

Hey, y'all! In this video, I show you how I wash, retwist and style my locs. Be warned that it's a LONG process, but I'd say this is really the only tough aspect of having locs. Once you get past wash days, locs are really easy to maintain. Enjoy!

I’ve been locking my hair now about 15 months now and I still learned a lot by looking at ur video it was very helpful and I love ur Locs too.👍🏽
Your hair is beautiful, and the applicator bottles are soooo helpful!
I’ve been locked for 2 months. I do the stocking cap method and use an applicator bottle to shampoo as well. This style was super cute! Can’t wait until my hair is this length. 😍

I'll be two months on Sept 7! I tried to do the stocking cap method but I feel like my hair didn't get too clean so I just do a regular wash.

Tatiana Victoria congrats! 🎊 I like it because my hair doesn’t unravel but I might try without the cap in the next few washes to see how it does.
OMG yes! I needed this video.... Especially when it got to the retwisting part... Up close and clear.
Great video, I'm 18 months into my loc journey and really thinking of stepping away from the salon. You have definitely inspired me. Much love 💘 sis

Hallo dear, how can I get you in Lithuania, to retouch my dreads?
The hair style you did was so helpful and easy to do! I now have a go to style that I can do on my own! Thanks!
Now this is cute as hell and super simple. Going to a wedding this weekend so this is it.
Loved this video and the style! Super cute!
Great video, stunning locs and those two braids are bomb 💣. I will try that style once my locs become more mature. Thanks for the great content.
Lol, i didn't actually realise "squeeze it in and shake it up" was dirty until you said we must get our heads out of the gutter. Now my head is in the gutter🤣🤣
I love this ! I just started my loc journey today and I feel like the sizes are inconsistent so I gotta make some adjustments buuutt overall superrrr excited
So informative and clever commentary! Love your videos! ❤️
You are beautiful and so are your locs! I enjoyed watching your routine. I’m not ready to loc, but I love seeing loc care and journeys. 💙

Linda Lynn maybe you should loc your hair I watch your videos loose natural hair takes too much to take care of I wish I would of loc’d my hair sooner I am 7 months loc’d now
Started following you on Instagram and saw your KZread channel in your profile. Your video is just the type of video I’m looking for. 3 years into my Loc journey.
Girl please! You and this shower head! Loved your loc routine!
Too Cute! My Sisterlocks are 14 Months old now. I started with 3-4 inch hair. It’s healthy and growing nicely. I’m loving every growth stage, but can’t wait until they are shoulder length+. Thanks for your awesome hair videos!❤️💕💐
This vid came right away on time for my upcoming wash and retwist. I like the applicator bottle technique. Also love the braided style. I’m definitely gonna try this. Tfs
LMBO... You are a mess!! This was too funny, but definitely educational. Go Nina! :-) I'm playing catch-up watching your video's and I'm enjoying it all!!! :-)
Love my handheld shower head! For my final rinse I turn it to a forceful stream option and deep rinse my locs for 3 minutes (i have a timer and I have thick locs). As they get longer the deep rinse time will get longer. No buildup issues for me! Loc wash day is easier for me than loose natural wash days! Lovely style! I miss my longer locs when I could do this, but this set will get there!

I never think to turn up the force...that's great advice! And yeah, it's definitely easier than loose natural. You'll get your length back in no time :-)
Wow i love this video and your channel. Definetely, doing this hair style after my next wash
Loved this video! So informative and entertaining
Here during covid because I need to wash and style my hair myself... and on a Sunday afternoon ironically. Thank you for this
Thank you for sharing your locs or beautiful and that green finger nail polish is everything. Blessings love...
Great video! I tried this same method last time I washed my locs, and my scalp and locs felt reallllyyy clean. I might stick with this method.
You are gorgeous Queen.. 😍😍Nice vid Empress!
Wow! Very beautiful style and thanks for sharing!
Thanks! You gave me a style to try finally! It looks doable too!
Definitely enjoyed this video! About how much Shampoo or conditioner do you put in your applicator bottle? I’ve always had problems with the shampoo or conditioner having residue (I think that’s why you diluted right). I’ve been looking for a light wash that replenishes my hair.
The single & celibate part has me dead 😭😭😭
Hello Nina! You have inspired me to try the Loc Journey! My question is: what is your water to shampoo ratio for the diluted shampoo?
Great job and the finished product.......breathtaking. #love
Aww, you're delightful. Thanks for the tips!
I love this!! Finally found a video with someone with a similar texture to mine... Idk.. this video worked for me!
Great video! I love your nail polish too! I'm going to try this style next time. I'm horrible at styling my hair lol.

This was so refreshing to watch! 🤷🏽♀️😁 I just shampooed and I’m ready to do it again now. 😂 I must try the applicator bottles too. I feel like I’m not getting my product distributed evenly and as a result I’m using more product. Thanks for the video! I always enjoy. 😉

Hey girl! Thanks for ur video. I love watching!! Questions: I have locs close to a year old and it seems like I get all of the shampoo out of my hair but when I start to retwist it seems like there's residue. How long does it take for your full wash routine take? And what shower head do u recommend and/or does it matter? Thanks!! Much love 💕
Hey Nina loved the vid 😁😚
Beautiful hair... and the video was very detailed 👍🏾🙂
Hello Nina! .. Thank you so much for this wonderful video. .. I have been following you and trying to emulate all that you have shown us. .. My question is: why do separate hair strands tend to grown into other parts of the locks. .. In other words, the parts don't stay parted. . . Not sure how to deal with this situation. .. Any advice you have will be most appreciated! ..
Really informative video. Thanks 😊. I am just starting to retwist after interlocking for years. I may have missed it but, did you sit under the dryer? I'm realizing that I have to use the clips.

I love loc wash day videos😍😍😍
Thanks for tips. I'll definitely try'em out on my hair. I like to use Dawn dish soap, I find it keeps all the natural oils in my hair.

Really, I was told it strips the natural oils from the hair. How long have you been using Dawn?
I can’t believe that was 5 weeks of growth 😍. How regularly do you wash your hair? Do you just do it before a retwist or do you was in between retwists as well. I’m planning to get locs in 2 months (will keep my fro for the summer)
Your locs are gorgeous 😍
your hair is so beautiful, omg!! im contemplating about locing up my hair, but I'm still feeling my free natural hair. ill do it some time soon 😩😩

Thanks, You have given me some very good tips on how to maintain my locs. Where did you get the shampoo bottle?
Great vid... beautiful locs..thanks ❤✌
Thanks for the hairstyle idea I did it immediately lol.
Girl you have me cracking up over that shower head 🤣🤣🤣
I just died @ 1:25! She was just so pleased with herself; the look on her face just gets me. LOL. By the way, I love all of her videos!
Love your hair. Did you start off two stand or comb method? I really can't tell
1:24 the stress reliever
It takes me a long time also because of the amount of locs we have. I am about to bleach my locs and try I am blessed gel and see how it does. I retwist about every 3 months and wash about once a week now that it's not so hot outside.
wow this looks really easy. can’t wait to try it on my ma hair
Thanks for this video. I don’t wanna go to my stylist during this COVID-19 pandemic, so I really needed the tips.
Love it!! Will be trying it.
You and your locs are beautiful. Good job.
I have a lot of hair and with a lot of hair comes many marriages and tangles that make the parts of my locs barely visible. Usually when I get my locs retwisted someone breaks them apart. Any advice on how I can do this on my own??
I loved this 😊How often do you wash your hair ?
Is there a reason why you dilute your shampoo? And yes I struggle every time with washing my locs
How often do you wash your hair? I have bad dandruff as well, but I need to wash my hair every week so I don’t know if I should start locs
how many locs do you have? your hair looks amazing
1:24 I was just thinking about that didn't expect that at all 😂😂😂
Love love your videos
You have some really pretty and beautiful dreadlocks
I subscribed to your channel based on your comment about the detachable shower head 😍🤣
Hi! I also suffer from dandruff in my locs (not fully matured), do you have any suggestions for combating the flakes between washes?
Hey, I love your videos. I’m thinking about getting dreads because I hate doing my hair don’t know what to do with it. I feel like dreads would be easier for me. I use the same shampoo you use but you said if your a starter condition wouldn’t be good depending on your hair ? What do you mean by that
You’re so good I have to go to the salon
Beautiful hair🙌
1:25 I promise 🤣🤣🤣
I love her locs! 🤩😍 So neat and even. Makes me want to start 🤯
So what do you do to combat the bad dandruff? Also I'm definitely gonna start using the acv on my hair!
Hello!, I’m new to this channel and new to the idea of getting dreads with curly hair. My question is, is it possible to do dreads with curly hair? My curly hair ranges from 2b-2c
I've been trying to retwist clockwise or as best I can...do you retwist all your hair in the same direction? Thanks...I'm in month 5. Also... Did you use aloe vera gel to retwist when you started? I tried it but my retwist didn't seem to last long. I used Fruit of the Earth. Does the Palmers have more hold?
Thank you for the video! I am really having a hard time with loose hair at the roots of my locs. I'm super unhappy with my locs and unmotivated to do anything with it. Do you have any solutions? Any tips? It's literally like I have an afro under my locs....
@TheGirlbookbyNina
4 жыл бұрын
Ugh, I know your pain! I have the same issue. I think you may have to retwist a little more frequently if you want a flatter look, though. The afro is only going to grow if you let it be. Le sigh :-)
I don’t even have locs but I have serious hair envy. If I could stand having the same hair style for longer than a month I would totally do them.
I just watched the video of coloring your locs and you said that you regretted it but the color on your locs here looks amazing. You had me convinced to not color my hair but now since seeing this video I am back on the fence again. 🤔
