WASH N GO: Make your curls POP!
‪@KarenofCurlHouse‬ uses kinky curly curling custard to give you a step by step tutorial for how she transforms her dry hair into curly hair by doing a wash n go, or curl definition. Make sure your hair is saturated wet. Apply leave in conditioner, creamy leave in conditioner, and a styling gel. Curling gels tend to leave the hair firmer but give excellent hold. Section hair into 6 or 7 smaller sections. Pick up a small section of hair. Use comb to comb thru section. Use index and middle finger to 'smooth' hair. This creates clumping of the curls, and minimizes frizz. Do not touch until after the hair dries. After hair dries, use a pick at the root to create volume. Spray a finishing oil to give your hair a sheen. All done!

    I'm so excited to discover you! I'm older, starting to grey and just went 100% natural in May of this year after 50 years of relaxers, hot combs, flat irons, and hot blow dryers without heat protectant (I didn't know!!). So yes, I'm learning! :) It's just nice to see someone close to my age giving basic, genuine advice. I finished my segmented big chop last week. I've already executed some of your teachings and I'm so pleased. Thank you!

    Thank you so much Monica! I appreciate it. Yes. I have used the kinky curly Knot today as well underneath it and it works very well, however I prefer a leave-in that has glycerin in it and kinky curly leave in doesn't have glycerin. I have used a few products by CR but not the moisture milk. One of the things that I like about KK is that you can mix it with almost any leave-in and still get great results!

    Hello Ms Karen, once again I'm revisiting this video! it's so informative with a great end result. You use a spray leave in ,in the beginning and a creamy conditioner before the gel. I don't have a spray conditioner, could you recommend some please? I do have creamy conditioners as well as the kinky curly. Would the camille rose moisture milk or tgin, or camille rose coconut water conditioner work for underneath the gel? Thanks again and your just beautiful!!

    HI Monica! I use the Curl House Hair Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner. Its super hydrating and full of botanicals and other humectants that keep that hair strengthened, protected, and moisturized under gels. I believe the TGIN and the CR Coconut Water conditioner would work as well. They are both hydrating as well! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

    Hi Carol! I am working on a video to release next week to address this issue so stay tuned. But if you have very loose curls, I typically recommend that you put a few two strand twists in that area to give yourself more curls. Gels tend to give you the most clumping (for curls) but if that's doesn't work then two strand twists.

    I'm watching this video on my tv right now and you say your hair is curly without product but won't stay curly. My hair is grey all over and has a straight natural texture. Can you recommend a product that may help my curl definition? I hope so. Thanks Karen.

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

    @KarenofCurlHouse

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Timmy! So with curl definition, curling products only enhance your natural curl pattern, so if your hair is straight wet, curling products won't necessarily give you curl because it only enhances what you already have. BUT I can give you a suggestion. Something you can try -- go out a get a cheapy gel -- like EcoStyler -- and apply it to your hair when it is saturated wet; use your hand to 'scrunch' the hair -- I may have to do a video to explain, but this may give you some waves. Also, two strand twists for a twist out will definitely give you waves. Let me know if this is helpful and if I need to demonstrate via video I will add it to the line up for this month.

  • @rutalaa

    Do you have to use fingers to smooth it through can you just use it fingers as a comb and rake it through to do the same thing? And then add an oil over the gel to seal the gel?

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

    @KarenofCurlHouse

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes! You can use your fingers as well. I"ve learned that 'smoothing' helps to keep the curls more clumped together. Raking separates curls a bit more, but both are effective. Depends on your finished look preference. I would suggest applying an oil over the moisturizer to seal BEFORE applying the gel. After you've defined the curl, leave it alone so that you don't disrupt the curl patten while wet. Or, as shown in the video, I sprayed an oil after the hair dried. Hope this helps...

  • @KarenofCurlHouse

    @KarenofCurlHouse

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! My crown is very dry, and a wiry texture. So I tend to put much more moisture in that area and make sure its probably detangled before styling. Now if you are prone to tangling in that area, you may want to consider putting a few smaller two strand twists for a twist out which mimics the wash n go (depending on texture of course). A twist out stretches the hair a bit more and more than likely won't tangle as it drying.
