The thing with this gel is it says for an elongated look, use less. For defined curls, use more. The first time I tried it, I used too much. It definitely works. I use it mainly on my ends. I make sure my hair moisturized and defined. Then I go in and use it on my ends

The Denman brush makes the roots of type 4 hair frizzy. Try using the brush on only your ends, for less frizz. 🙂

Thanks for the tip! My twists, etc started getting so frizzy once I started using the denman brush with it. I thought it was the products and couldn't figure it out!

Great tip..! I started to use praying hands method and it's a total difference... less frizz, more definition and LESS SHEDDING

I haaate when some of my ends are straight so annoying! Why can't my hair be the same texture in the front & back & root to tip

I swear your like one of the first people I've been able to watch and be able to relate to!! My hair acts, and looks similar to yours. I've been trying to figure out a way to get all of my hair defined. Like how you were saying the bottom is defined when you added the jell but the top was still frizzy, I deal with that. On the jar for this gel the curls will clump together more with more gel applied, when u uses less gel it retains length

This seems like a gel you need to use on soaking wet hair.... technique matters

Cutie Patootie Jess!! I recently used Aunt Jackie's on the leave out part of a sew in protective style to blend my hair into the curly weave and it worked perfectly. It really makes my curls pop but you can't apply too much. Also I applied it to dry conditioned hair.

As always, love you!! Have you tried making flax seed gel? It's just flax seeds boiled in water, then strain the seeds out. Super good for your hair. Omega 3 fatty acids, doesn't leave it crunchy (well not mine) and the definition......I had a twist out that lasted for an entire week, still super define, hardly frizzy, and I didn't have to retwist. Oh, you can also put your peppermint oil in it so it can smell like something.

I’m loving your hair and your very pretty. Aunt Jackie’s does pretty good on me if I use too much it shrink I have to use a small bit, my hair strands are thin.

Good review and I️ like the pin stars. I️ have a mixed texture 4a,b,c and this product did help with giving my hair less shrinkage. You made some good points on shrinkage at the end of your review as well.

same! I really love that this gel doesnt flake! cuz the last gel that i reviewed (the name isn't coming to my head right now) made my curls look so juicy but IT FLAKED SOOOO MUCH! so disappointing.

Finally I've found someone with the same type of hair 😩😩, it's was difficult, my hair have no more definition 😂😂😂 girls on KZread have too curly hair...

OnlyOneJess trust me they ticked me off too with the watering down of their product but after serious backlash from the aa community they went back to the old tried and true...so I'm happy again!

Hello, love your hair! Where did you get the gold hair pins?

I personally use the don't shrink to bread or twist my hair only, and for wash and go I definitely prefer the curl lala, which leaves them curly but not frizzy ,I guess you can also combine both for better results but I don't like putting too much products in my hair

Do you have any tips on what to do with the pieces in the front that won’t really curl up, besides cutting it because I’ve cut them multiple times but they still grow out like the rest of my hair.

i mean ive held on to those pieces for over a year and I just coiled the ends and scrunched them to keep them kinda uniformed. i feel like even though i cut them they're going to grow back the same still lol but idk we will see!

Can you use the gel to lay you're edges down on 4c hair? Or just type 4 ?

How often do u flat iron your hair

I tried it for the 1st time today. It was not easy going....Didn't have my curls clumping together and it was just like yours....frizzy at the top and defined at the bottom. I think I like extreme wetline better. I will try it again though to be sure and not use any product underneath before I totally dismiss it......also I did a dry wash n go......so that could've been the problem as well

I like the hair. Popping as always. Have you thought of going back to the Jamaican black castor gel? My hair update: Girl, I've grown my hair out a lot (almost bra strap length) and I got my hair straightened a month ago. Now I have heat damage to the root. I wanna cry everyday because I have to start over. Crazy thing is, I've used heat on my hair in excessive amounts before and no issues. Lord, the heartbreak! Lol

Thats probably the only ecosstyler gel that i would use for a wash and go cuz it didnt leave me hair hard at all my only problem is they dont sell it in the hair stores around here and mine ran out thats why i havent used it lol but OMG im soooo sad to hear that. Ive been itching to straighten my hair lately but this story just changed my mind lol i hope your curls bounce back!

yea its definitely all about finding the right products, most people prefer to use a curling cream before applying the gel, i usually just go straight in with the gel. it all depends on your hair =)

I think it shrank , still looks good.

I havnt used her gel n a long time but i luvit bcuz its moisturizing 2 my hair but it stil shrinks. I bleav that gel wrks better 4 those wit stringy loose curls r thin strands; n the typ 3s. But for kinkuer texturesit still shrinks. Overall i luv it 4 moisture

yea some gels should just be upfront and say on the package which hair the specific gels works best for lol

I use Anutie Jakie curling Custard in my hair after washing and it was the worst. The amount if residue it left in my hair . My coworker told me I need to wash my hair I said girl i just washed it yesterday

I dont think i've tried a gel that defines my hair as much but sheesh that crunch is not cute at all. and yea now that im thinking about it, i feel like my hair didnt shrink that much because of that the fact that it wasn't that defined. so now idk lol

OnlyOneJess yeah same with the definition and crunch struggle. I tried Taliah Waajid curly cream lotion and it's like moisture+softness+definition but it's nowhere close to Eco *sighs* have to use a lot to come that close, but you should try it and it's not sticky either so that's a plus! 😊

i tried this gel for myself and sad to say it flaked so bad.

I always shingle and curl the ends with my fingers.maybe you didnt use enough or maybe your hair wasnt long enough
