    Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.

    I love reactions to this song! Its always fun to watch people lose their minds when Austin really belts it out. Backstory to this video: Austin's girlfriend, Amberly, was in the studio when he recorded this video, so he was singing this song for her. Omg, your panicked face (specifically how wide your eyes got) at 17:37 when you registered that you had paused just as Austin went up to that B5, after already holding the first high note, was absolutely amazing :) great reaction, and I loved the details regarding the D5 and the different clefs. I was in concert band from 5th grade through high school graduation, and during high school was also in the Jazz band my last two years of high school and I honestly didn’t know about the Tenor Clef, or the Octave Treble Clef so that was fascinating to hear about (and read :) thank you Mason!!).

    And the fact that Austin was sitting for the whole song. Mortius mentioned that it's more difficult to hit the high notes while sitting but here's Austin belting them out.

  • @radbrad1935

    @radbrad1935

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@anastasiawolfeheart468 hopefully this doesn’t come across as argumentative, because I only mean this as an educational statement as this subject seems to be typically misunderstood. So I mean no animosity by any of what follows: while I have no doubt that Austin sang every note of that song confidently while seated for the video, Mortius did point out how nearly every music video in existence uses a different audio recording than the audio that would be present during the video recording. So yes, I’m sure Austin can and did hit each of those sitting down that day, I’m sure it was much easier for him to hit those notes with that power and volume while standing up in the recording booth. I never had any vocal training myself, but I’m a tenor voice of some sort or another (just after I’d graduated highschool, the voice teacher of my girlfriend at the time said with training I might have been a counter-tenor, but I’ve never been able to hit Austin’s highways notes so don’t really trust that statement) and while sitting in my car driving to work I can match a lot of Austin’s parts. Yesterday I listened to Mortius’ reaction of Austin’s Bring Him Home, and I even pitch matched his final note in that song, but I’ve never been able to hit his A5 from Land of the Free. So singing high notes sitting down is indeed possible, but it’s definitely a lot more difficult.

    Adam's technique for the key change transition sounds like he is simply doing a rising tone while flutter-tonguing. Wind instrumentalists, such as Adam, learn to hold their tongue stiffly very near the ridge of the palate, while also blocking the air from any other means of passage (although this can be varied if needed) and use sufficient air to make the tongue flutter. The result is kind of like doing really fast tonguing (tuh-tuh-tuh), but too fast for double or triple tonguing (which are done with muscle control rather than using the inherent tension of the tensed tongue).

    How many people even knew there was a tenor clef before you said it? I was a bassoonist so I had to know it.

    I watched your whole intro 😃. You always make me laugh and you remind me of my wonderful adhs and autistic child who has your energy . Don't ever change your way of doing things the way you do. By the way how could you think that home could disappoint.....they always come through they are the best🥰🥰

    OMG! I'm SO glad I stayed until the very end! When you were turning your head and about to remove your headphones and you heard Austin hit that first high note, then the expression on your face when he went even HIGHER made me laugh out loud! I must've played that part at least 15 times. Thank you for this PERFECT reaction, and the laughter!

    Austin can flirt with the camera so easily. He was in music theater in college. Plus, behind what I suspect is a natural flirtatious ability, his girlfriend, Amberly, was right there in the studio. I'm guessing that you weren't disappointed in the video despite the hype given to it! 😁

    "I'm not heterosexual enough for that"! Who is?! I've been happily married to the love of my life for 41 years and I love that bad boy look! The ladies swoon over that. In fact, his girlfriend (now wife) was behind the camera and he's singing to her (lucky lady!). Yours is the best reaction by far to this song because of the way you emote to the song. I love the way you called out the chord progressions (and variations). And lest we forget, this is all a Capella!!! There are no instruments behind this! I keep forgetting that!

    On the adhd side of things, a lot of research is focusing on distinguishing between Bipolar and ADHD. As bipolar is evident in kids prior to 18. Any condition specific treatment provided as early as possible is a great help.

    Just a FYI Chance does go up to high Tenor. Chances vocal range is lowest bass note G1 to his highest high note A5. I wish they would give him credit too. Austin hit this song out of the ballpark.

    I loved your opening! I have a 14 year son with Autism and NO red food coloring for him. He's already 5'10, 200lbs (a lot bigger than me). Add red food coloring and we might as well go for a 10 mile run, lol.
