I swear there is no G.O.A.T debate. In 1988, Jordan was league MVP, Defensive Player of The Year, All NBA 1st team, All defense 1st team, Scoring Champ, Led the league in steals, Named All Star Team MVP, and won the Slam Dunk Contest.....ALL IN THE SAME YEAR!!!!

I played in the 90s and early 2000s. 2004 it all went down the toilet. Removing defense totally. I played Professionally w Sonics in 2002 as a practice squad member. In the 90s, with Orlando during the summers before Shaq when Otis Smith was the man #32. You noticed a glaring difference. Much tougher to score in the 90s. Ridiculously quick, ridiculously skilled...he overmatched every individual player who was tasked to stop him, He understood the game and was competitive to a fault. If his team sucked and found itself down 20 , he would take over and either get close or just as often got there...but he had no peer. They could only double him and force him to pass if he wasn't already in the air scoring anyway...

Lebron can’t shoot outside 3 feet shooting 36 for his career. He cant shoot free throws despite being a main ball handler. He a below average 3 point shooter. And mj beats him in advanced stats. And traditional stats with context. Mj a better rebounder compared to other shooting guards than lebron is to other small forwards. The passing is over blown as when mj played point guard he averaged 11 assists a game and mj and lebron are both tied for assists in one game with 17. Put that in to perspective. Mj was an all round player. Even more than lebron. Lebron got those weaknesses I mentioned. Mj biggest weakness was he’s average 3 point shooting. That’s it lebron has 4 weaknesses not even mentioning his weak mentality that allows him to flop without shame

The accuracy part is about all the have in common how the got there assists was difference and magic put magic on that shit. He passes look better aesthetically. And magic got way Moses assist in less time. Magic played 11 seasons vs guy’s like Stockton played 19 seasons. If you do the math, if magic had had a longer career and not contracted aids he would have smashed Stockton in assists and it would be close. Lebrons at 10,458 in 20 years magic had 10,141 in 11 years. Stockton has 15,806 in 19 years. Give magic those 9 years he would most likely be close to 19-20,000 assists

Jordan is the greatest scorer in NBA history with the all time highest regular season (30.1) and playoff (33.4) averages. Keep in mind that 30.1 clearly would be much higher had he not lost almost 2 years in his prime playing baseball and also the last couple of more or less meaningless years with the Wizards. Also, you can make the argument he's the best defender in history being one of only 4 players to make 1st team all defense 9 times and he actually won POY once. This video is not an exaggeration, but certainly it was more impressive to witness it. The presence of Jordan on the road during regular season made the day for every visited team. It was that big. The loss of the team was compensated just by watching that guy playing, Naturally not those teams who become or were close rivals since the moment Chicago started to win consistently

@@hyperflame7255 I grew up watching MJ and I consider the penny Hardaway & Shaq magic, but I think the '98 pacers MIGHT take the cake, they forced MJ bulls to 7 while making them go into OT and almost won over them, but the bad boy pistons might be his hardest competition, since out of the 4-playoff series they played Jordan only got past them once, either way Jordans competition was way more harder and physical than LeBron's, nowadays you can't bump anyone without getting a foul, it's ridiculous! Like I said the pacers could have been his hardest competition, but bad boys take the cake for his toughest, brutal playoff series.

putting it respectfully, jordan is the greatest player of all-time, but the best player of all-time is lebron, he has the stats and on the court you can just see the impact he brings is better than jordan's, he also has more playoff success, the only reason jordan is the greatest (better legacy) is because he has more accolades than lebron, if you put lebron in jordan's place, lebron is easily the greatest player of all-time, he wouldn't retire, and would probably have 12 rings, because his longevity; even with the harder era, is extremely better

Jordan is the GOAT no doubt. But the only thing that came close to knocking his status down was how great the Bulls season was after his first retirement. Pippen and the so-called supporting cast went damn far in the playoffs. They took the knicks to the 7th game in the eastern conference finals and truth be known should’ve won. Of course we don’t know how they would’ve done against the Rockets in the finals. Anyway to me that was Phil Jackson’s best coaching job ever that particular season.

LeBron James has had the best NBA career of all time and to maintain his level of basketball for as long as he has is very impressive, and, if your definition of GOAT is longevity, then he's your GOAT... BUT Jordan's very best years are better than any other basketball players' best years. There is no one else who reached the level that Jordan had for his best. That, to me, is the GOAT.

I agree with this statement, nowadays the NBA is softer than it ever was, you can't talk trash, taunt or even celebrate without getting a technical, Its Crazy! MJ showed that he can dominate in an era where you could push, talk trash, or get hit hard to the ground without the refs babying them, this taught MJ to become more physical and stronger for those types of moments.

I like to back up my argument for GOAT with facts, truth, and stats--not who won the most championships, or who is the flashiest dunker, who took the most shots, or the best shoe salesman. I believe GOAT means All-Time, All-Around Best Player, all aspects of the game should be considered--scoring, rebounding, assisting, stealing, and blocking, defense, and career win % (it's all about winning). When you look at the major stats for a career (pts, reb, ast, stl, and blk PER GAME), plus Overall Defensive Rating, and Career win %, and look where Bird ranks on the all-time list for those stats/metrics, add them up and the LOWER the number, the BETTER the all-around player. Bird is 20th in pts, 54th in rebounds, 47th in assists, 38th in steals, 217th in blocks, 61st in overall defensive rating, and 2nd in win %. Add those ranking's numbers up, and his number is 439--besting all the others (Jordan, Magic, Lebron, Curry, etc). In most cases, it isn't even close!! Jordan alone, because he isn't in the top 250 in rebounding, I graciously give him a 250 for that stat (though he is probably between 300-400), and he is still at 729!! Not even close! This goes to show you that most people are pretty ignorant or have trouble defining what great basketball really is. If Jordan had any pride (since he is 0-6 v Bird in the playoffs), he would come out and tell his zombies who the GOAT really is. He knows in his heart that Bird is the best to ever play. Bird beat Jordan ruthlessly 70% of the time in the regular season, and 100% of the time in the playoffs. Hell, Jordan had losing seasons his first 3 seasons, and didn't have a winning season until Pippen arrived. Bird took the 2nd worst team in the league (29-52) to a league best 61-21 his ROOKIE year and won the title his 2nd year--no Ainge, no DJ, and a rookie McHale. That is what playing winning basketball is all about. What is it about Jordan? the 6 championships came against talent he could beat--but he never won anything in the 80s--times were tough then, the first 6 years of his career. Using this metric, how does your pick for GOAT stack up? No metric for hype--but if there was--Jordan, LeBron, and the king Steph Curry, would all be way higher on the list.

Im an mj fan. Mj, bird, magic (nba's holy trinity) To me, this is basically a hare (m's peak) vs tortoise (lebron's longevity) thing. If by some miracle, bron exceeds mj's chips, mvp's, fmvp's and gets at least 1 dpoy, then he could very well be goat. Mj may have accomplished stuff sooner (hare) but if bron exceeds them (tortoise), then tortoise wins (bron)
