Spain's entry explanation: That year we got fed up losing and feeling humiliated and underrated. So in a late night tv show, they made a sketch like " we will lose anyway no matter what we do, so what if we send this ridiculous thing". They're all comedians, they didn't really intend to go to eurovision. BUT that year the national selection for the first time was a public voting, we could vote for any candidates. So the sketch went on, the "what if" idea was so hilarious that people voted for Chikilicuatre. The comedians themselves couldn't believe it but they had to keep going with the acting. Eurovision spanish fans were angry, but I think everyone in Spain now feels a little bit proud of that epic trolling. Of course, now the candidate voting is so much controlled 😂

Serbia and Jelena with Oro always give me goosebumps, even now with this short clip of her performance. One of the best host country entries!

I use to play the CD from 2008 way too much when was a teenager and I still love alot of songs from 2008.

First song of The interval act was actually a song from Croatian singer Severina Who also represented Croatia in 2006 with Moja Štikla Who has such stupid but funny lyrics.

Armenia was so robbed in 2008!!! They got the most 12 points and should've won! Tea!!!🇦🇲 Russia was overrated, his vocals wasn't even perfect live. In 2006 he was much better. Great video Noosh!!!❤

12 years later, Turkey 2008 is still my #3 Eurovision song of all time. Also, I love the fact that you're watching it with the Swedish Graham Norton commentary. For proof of Edward af Sillén's comedic genius, look no further than the fact that he wrote "Love Love Peace Peace".

Watching 2008 Eurovision with UK commentary is brilliant. Sir Terry Wogan, a harsh critic at times, but it makes for that good ol' British humour. I think 2008 is an underrated Eurovision.

Program hosts Jovana Jankovic and Zeljko Joksimovic (he participated in esc many times, as a singer, composer, even in 2008 he was a composer of Serbian songs) met during the preparations for esc and never parted again. They got married and have children.

Both Armenia's 4th places are great Sirusho with Qele Qele and Aram Mp3 with Not Alone. Also did you know that Shady Lady was also written by Karen Kavaleryan who is of Armenian origin. He have written a lot of songs for Eurovision.

My Top 5 from 2008: 1. Sweden - Hero is my second favourite song of all time 2. Armenia 3. North Macedonia (Did Not Qualify) 4. Malta 5. Ukraine

As Russian, I think most of Russians liked Ani Lorak more than Dima. His song was cheap and cheesy. But ESC 2009 in Moscow was really stunning. Same with Baku 2012 despite their 2011 winning song was pretty lame as well. It doesn't really matter who wins because best songs will be remembered in any case, what matters is how hosting country organizes the show.

Noosh dancing is seriously the best thing I've ever witnessed

Miss those Eurovision times so much. So many funny and joke entries and so sad many of them didn't qualify, and a year later the jury appeared and contest became too serious :( And I also didn't like Russian song (and I'm Russian) but let's be honest: it's impossible to win the final of whole Eurovision with 25 finalists and 43 overall participants with an advanage of almost 50 points because of only political and block voting, it means people really liked it (and don't forget it was only televoting)

Armenia’s song is my favourite of that year!! But I also loved Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Iceland and Greece (and also North Macedonia but they didn’t make it into the final)

The singer for georgia is blind. Awesome voicesng catchy song!

Qele Qele was Awesome!

Israeli singer was such huge baby that his mum end up in wheelchair after giving him birth. Croatia was so jealous that Serbia won that they decided to send street singer to Belgrade, and during their national final they didn't want to mention that Eurovision will be in Belgrade or Serbia. Georgia singer was blind. Due you remember Irish Dustin the Turkey? Serbia has biggest trumpet festival in Europe, check Guča festival.

2008 was EPIC other than the winner. I remember turning off my TV when I knew Russia had it in the bag

So I guess I am the only one who really dislike Shady Lady :/ And further, my winner was Russia (even if I liked his 2006's song better) :p

My two favourite songs from 2008 were 1. Divine and 2. Baila el Chicki Chicki. But I think 2008 is one of the worst Eurovision years ever. Even the winner was just... totally forgettable.

I like ethnic music in Eurovision, but dutch ethnic music is soo bad. Our language does not sound nice. So I think you will not hear any dutch music Eurovision. Our Europop music is good tho (2unlimited and venga boys)
