He's a great actor and a brilliant director. Heaven Can Wait is one of my favorite movies from Hollywood
Warren Beatty is cinema monster such as Pacino is but please people, don't compare and don't forget the most essential : the award is here for Warren Beatty, accept this and listen to his great speech, his lovely way to talk about cinema and Annette Bening, he's humoristic, seems to be in love with his wife and his profession and stay one of the most charismatic actor of ever.
Warren Beatty and Annette Bening They look at themselves when Pacino come like they don't believe it .. and Bening reaction " oh my god " 0:08 lol .. I just love it ..
Warren and Annette is a PERFECT example to prove that age doesn't matter when it comes to love, RESPECT!!!!!

I’m a big fan of Al Pacino and algorithms led me here.
Initially, the music that accompanies Beatty to the stage is from his 1981 film "Reds". I believe that the fact that Beatty's last several films were misfires has prevented him from being more productive in the last several years, i.e. Love Affair, his ill advised attempt to remake An Affair To Remember with Warren attempting to capture the charm of Cary Grant and Annette Bening in the Deborah Kerr role; Town And Country, a humorless comedy with Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn; and Bullworth, a satirical film about the corrupt political system that failed to attract an audience. Consequently, his film about the final days of Howard Hughes was delayed and is now in production.
they have a lot of great actors who made amazing movies like clint eastwood, jack nicholson, harrison ford, sylvester stallone, bruce willis, morgan freeman, arnold schwarzenegger and now di caprio, denzel washington, tom hanks, etc not only pacino and de niro( of course both have increbible talents and made awesome movies)
He dated Natalie Wood, such a lucky guy.
Warren's a fascinating character.
one of most deserving award for the greatest guy ever!!!
ah, Warren Beatty. God bless that man.
WARREN IS 71 HERE!!!!! He looks and sounds like he is in his 50s!!!!

Just gotta luv Him....
@Frye666 it's called (i think) " Arise Workers To The Battle" it was a soviet labor anthem
MrAitraining, Beatty doesn't need to have at least ten movies to deserves this award. George Lucas has directed only 6 movies. Terence Malick has only made 5. Btw, here are 8 great Beatty films Bonnie & Clyde, Splendor in the Grass, Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait, Reds, Dick Tracy, Bugsy, Bulworth

Yeah, you did leave out the GREAT "McCabe and Mrs. Miller."
Warren Beatty was the epitome of a true Movie Star, so bright and beautiful. And then he became a great director. He was a force to be reckoned with for a very long time in Hollywood.
Fantastic
L'Internationale is being played as Warren Beatty is walking to the stage. Any reason? Could someone tell me?
One thing I just realized when watching Beatty paying tribute to Annette Bening. Ever since they were married in 1992, I do not recall seeing any story about Beatty having an affair or whatever. This is quite remarkable coming from a guy sleeping with all the classy dames in the past. This is probably a good lesson for Tiger Woods: you sleep with all the women you want, AND THEN you get married.

What the hell's with all these negative comments about Warren Beatty? I can see your points about how there weren't a lot of massive legends at Al Pacino's AFI night - I was thinking it too. But to put Beatty down just cuz of that? It's bollocks. Beatty's a legend in American cinema and he thoroughly deserved to have those people there. It's not his fault they weren't at Pacino's night. Both Pacino and Beatty are two of the greatest actors to hit cinema history and both deserved that award.
We can feel that Warren was extremely emotional and nervous recieving this awards, that's why, for me, he decided to shorten his acceptance speech. I thought for a moment that he was going to have a nervous break down, poor and lovely warren!!
Pacino is the greatest actor of all time and DeNiro is next to him
i dont know who is alpacino yet! BUT I KNOW WHO IS WARREN

When actually watching these shows were fun, informative and entertaining…..
me too...
I respect Beatty's work and his contribution to quality filmmaking [ although his last two films deviated from these standards ] however, I think that Pacino may have been overstating his importance when he compared Beatty to Chaplin, Welles and Griffith. Beatty has been unwilling to make the transition to character actor from romantic leading man, and accordingly, he hasn't worked much in the past ten years. He was apparently considered for the David Carradine role in Tarentino's Kill Bill.
He is a cool dude.
@VEGAxProductions LIKEWISE.. PACINO IS THE BEST
0:33 what Unrespect (the guy with the gumm)
Beatty's achievements should not be discounted. McCabe and Mrs. Miller by itself puts him shoulder to shoulder with other '70s greats like Pacino.
Did you notice no-one really congratulated him, I think they were there for the free food.
GODFATHER arrived silence
Daaaamn he was soooo beautiful and gorgeous sexy when he was young🤤🤤🤤😍😍😍I can't. These actors in the 50's OMG!
looks like Annette couldn't believe Pacino was there
Hollywood |s SO F'|ng full of |tself! And "Reds" |s my favor|te mov|e of ALL T|ME!
@30Kristen Scratch that I've gotten mixed up with Hollywood relationship disasters. Sorry about that
Thanks for your sarcastic comment, although valid. Madonna was truly an unfortunate episode in Beatty's love life. I don't think he himself is proud of that either.
Beatty's art is timeless, his politics worthless.

I asked myself the same question
this man is way cooler than Warren Beatty. Just saying...
Always liked Warren Beatty. Heaven Can Wait is my all-time favorite film. Never cared for his politics, but it's a free country. He had Obama for 8 years, and now my man Trump will have 8 years to change everything. LOL!
Gee whiz, AFI, do you think the music accompanying him to the podium was maybe a little OVER THE TOP?!!! Painful.
when cruise gets this it would be a scientology fest
Why is he considered handsome?
is this guy really tony montana from scarface ? looks nothing like him
Nobody shakes Beatty's hand or gives him a pat on the back. He must've been a real evil tyrant back in the day haha
They have all sold there souls .
Yep,all those "classy" dames..........Like Madonna!
Agree........BEYOND ridiculous........Beatty was never a genius........He must've written Pacino's speech.
These people (actors) don't know how to be genuine. Always need to read a scrip to function.

That is my impression, too. Most award speeches are quite pathetic, boring and not genuine. They can't memorize a 2 minute speech, stutter and overact it. Well, most of them. But that's why i love the exceptions- those eloquent and quick-witted enough to be standing there and just fun to listen to.
a great american walking down with the commie anthem is quite ironic
Couldn't agree more...Extremely overrated...Beatty made 2 great films; The Parallax View & Bonnie and Clyde....What he did with his "body" attracted more attention than his "body" of work....All those honors are baffling....He is no Paul Newman or Alain Delon....they and many other actors are artists.....isn't that great looking either.

Beyond overrated. Never understood Hollywood's infatuation with Warren Beatty. I mean, he made a few good movies but geez, not that many when he consider he's been acting for 40+ years. How many great Warren Beatty movies can you name? If you can't get to 10 (I can't), he doesn't deserve all this.

MrAitraining You have a point, but Beatty introduced a new wave of Hollywood filmmaking in the late 60’s and early 70’s with Bonnie & Clyde and Shampoo. Those two films were cataclysmic and paved the way for films like Taxi Driver, The French Connection and The Godfather. Beatty made gritty, realistic films mainstream and ushered in the reign of the Baby Boomer generation into Hollywood. So I think it was his work behind the scenes, coupled with his political activism, merits him the AFI award.
Such a giant in the movie industry who truly loves his work a man with great passion that loves his profession. God bless you Warren Beatty!
