Daniel Day Lewis, Jack Nicholson (Robin Williams) Accepting Critics' Choice Award

Ойын-сауық

At the 8th Annual Critics' Choice Awards, Daniel Day Lewis and Jack Nicholson both won for Best Actor - Lewis for "Gangs of New York" and Nicholson for "About Schmidt". Salma Hayek presents and Robin Williams (the only Best Actor Nominee not to receive an award) gives his commentary in this funny podium moment. The 8th Critics' Choice Awards were given on 17 January 2003 to honor the finest achievements in 2002 filmmaking.

Jack’s internal notes: 1. Tell them Im high. 2. Mention Id like to spank Jillian Hall. 3. Mention how surprised I am that Steven Spielberg got a laugh. 4. Talk about feelings of dread on nights like this. Nailed it. Best speech ever!

@Bebtelovimab He obviously forgot to thank Martin Scorsese in his speech, and out of respect he wanted to add that "addendum" as you put it. His delivery was still a bit mundane though.

This was a real kind gesture on Jack's part. Robin never had a big ego, but he was a sensitive soul and being singled out in the wrong way was probably a pretty hurtful snub. The one thing that's always made Robin happy was making other people laugh, and Jack must've known that being on that stage for a few minutes slaying a crowd of people he admired was probably a better prize for him than another paperweight award anyway.

Having said that, Im sure Robin was extremely humbled and pleased to just be in such talented company and group of actors. Especially since he considers himself a comedian. Ah Robin. The absolute light shining out of you. If only we could have given you half of the joy that you gave us. There is nothing more admirable in our world now than the act of making people happy. To incite a giggle or a smirk in our grey dreary lives is so much more precious then we think. I am so sorry that your time had to come to an end. But you are more than just the entertainer we see. You are your own man with your own dreams and needs. I'm sorry our world couldn't fill them, maybe the next one will.

Only slightly pretentious when it comes to the Craft, personally he is very shy, timid and Humble...but it seems the Roles give him purpose. He does not quite know who he is,I Think. But he is such an intense, tranformative performer,Likely the IMO 2nd best or Versatile actor alive so I am thankful for his extremely crazy and comitted method acting.
