He was such a special person, it was impossible to miss. It's amazing to me how many people were connected to him and therefore each other, it somehow brings us ALL closer together. It takes a truly miraculous human to do that. I'll always miss him and get choked up whenever I think of him.
Robin is the only celebrity whose death makes me feel sad every time I see something with him in it.

I was shocked about how he died, I never thought he would take his own life, and I think many of you feel the same way. His death taught me that behind a smile you think that he's okay, but when you look behind the smile, there were demons that he spent years fighting until he couldn't fight no more. He was from my dad's generation, but I grew up watching him. He was a kind, funny, and beautiful man. He will be one of those people who come along only once in a lifetime. Rest in peace Robin and give our love to your best friend Christopher Reeve. Smile my boy, it's sunrise.

A friend. A father. A mentor. A comedian. An actor. A brother. A son. A guardian angel. A human being. It pains me to know that whilst he was struggling internally with his mental state, he still managed to bring a smile in people’s faces even if he wasn’t taking care of himself. People didn’t know he was struggling until he killed himself. His brilliant mind was his best friend but also his worst enemy. We need to look after one another.

In memory of Robin Williams, one of the best, one of the greatest, and always in our hearts.
I'm watching this six years later and thinking how badly we need Robin right now. Tears are literally streaming down my face for a man I never met but who I miss so badly. Robin Williams wasn't just a funny man, he was kind, compassionate, and a real mensch. The world needs more Robin Williams'. Unfortunately, there will only ever be one. Fortunately, he was here in our lifetime.
When I heard the news, the first person who came to my mind was Billy Crystal. At the beginning you can tell his voice sort of breaking and then he managed to keep it together. It was difficult to him standing there and try to say something about his dearest friend. I miss Robin Williams, he was too good for this world, very talented and the funniest man on earth. #RIPGenie and YES! #WhatAConcept #Respect
The only term that can describe him to me is, "Once in a lifetime talent".
It amazes me just how under rated he really is. how many actors and comedians have you known that can just create something hilarious out of nothing

Dan Orpeus He's seemingly under rated because there are simply no words strong enough to express how brilliant this man is. 4 months later and hearts all over the world still ache for you, Robin. RIP Genie.

***** You're not seeing it. It's like he was brighter and more brilliant than even his fame as most famous actor-comedian could convey. There really aren't words strong enough to express it but you can surely feel it.

***** that's kind of harsh isn't it? I'm not so sure he meant to "justify himself" as it is possible he really just admires RW. Are you getting off by bashing an innocent comment about a tragic loss of life? Strange

***** Yes, I agree. Playing the "Better Than" game is very irritating to others, never more so than when there is loss and deep emotions felt. People who make pronouncements that begin with, "It amazes me just how underrated [he/she] really is..." is a message that the speaker is highly aware and knowledgeable about some kind of Truth, thus better than (smarter, more sensitive, and oh so correct) those who are spoken to, who of COURSE don't Get It. As you stated, ".... in order to make themselves feel like only THEY appreciate something as much as it should be." -- yes, and that the rest of us are dolts. I've been known to make myself unpopular when I've chosen to respond to things like this -- because, yes, they ARE wrong, inaccurate, etc. -- usually by saying something like, "Goodness, you mean you've actually heard lots of 'underrating' about Robin Williams [or whoever]? Gee, almost everyone I've heard from over the past 35 years or so have loved and appreciated ..." yadda yadda yadda ... The Better Than dynamic in life is played out in so many ways, by so many people, since the time of cave-dwellers -- a way to lift oneself up, by putting others down.
Bangerang, Oh captain my captain, See you in Neverland. I had the sheer joy of meeting this wonderful man during my one & only extra work on his movie Man Of The Year. At the end of the night as when he was done shooting he came over, shook the hand, asked our names & how we were doing & tanking us. You could tell it was something he not only wanted to do but loved doing. I was totally thrilled on the bus ride home & is a moment I treasure even more now. Sadly my extra work ended after because of verbally abusive losers.
Nope, the end got me, I never really cry over actors, people I never knew. But Robin was a freaken national treasure, he was warm, inviteing, funny yet kind. He was everybody's friend and when he talked it felt like he was talking straight to you, acting, comedy or in person. I don't care if I sound like a blubbering idiot, but this was hard. His works lifted my spirits when I felt down, he inspired me like no outher artist. I'm gonna miss him dearly, an I'm going to go cry now.
In the darkness at the end of that clip you could feel a large majority of people in the audience starting to cry, and that's what made me emotional, its a horrible thing that's happened, and it just shows they have heart.
Billy, always the true professional. A man of talent, class and style. If you haven't seen "700 Sundays" (his one man show, and story of his life) find it, it's nothing short of amazing!
2020 and I still miss seeing him on screen.
My god the last clip of him talking about his son and not being afraid hit hard RIP You wonderful man ❤️
What a wonderful heartfelt tribute from Billy Crystal.
Despite his incredible comic genius and manic personality - I always got the sense of a deep, underlining genuine sadness in him that manifested in some of his dramatic movie roles such as What Dreams May Come and Good Will Hunting. He was a great actor, but the depth of sadness in his characters was closer to method acting at times. It was convincing, too convincing. I sat down and watched What Dreams May Come on DVD the night I learned of his death, and had tears in my eyes throughout. I don't normally react that way to a movie...and I've watched that one a half dozen times. But I looked deeper into the performances and saw greater depth to the sadness than mere acting. He is gone - and Crystal's tribute was moving and poignant...very well done. RIP Robin. Thanks for all those decades of entertainment and laughter. You were truly one of a kind.

Hectorferjr2 The Parkinson's may have been a factor - we'll never know the exact reasons and what went through his mind in the last moments.
Robin Williams is the one performer I can truly say "We will never see another one like him." What an amazing talent he had.
Robin was a force of nature, a raging id. We were so lucky to have had him. Forty years just wasn't enough. Six years later, I find myself laughing, then crying. Bravo, Billy. I don't know how you made it through that.
People that gave this a thumbs down, what is wrong with you? Robin Williams died! He was the king of comedy! How could you do that? Mr.williams was the best of the best. You have problems. Robin Williams. R.I.P

My theory - some might feel as though giving the video a thumbs up might in some way make others, or probably themselves, feel as though they're not approving the message of the video, but the fact that Robin Williams is gone. And doing a thumbs down would do the opposite - perhaps raging against the idea that he is gone. I sometimes experience that odd theory with certain videos - I did give this a thumbs up, but like with many things, it's not a simple black or white concept and I try to (not all the time, but often) consider why someone might do a certain thing that makes me angry or confused. Like the guy on the highway who seems in such a hurry for no apparent reason and flashes you before you even have a chance to move over (or maybe he ticks you of and you don't move over). Just because we don't know the reason, that doesn't mean there is none. Maybe he's on his way to a job interview for his dream job, and he got delayed by something he had no control over. Or maybe his wife is about to give birth and he's trying to get to the hospital in time. There are times like these when forgiving is the only good policy. Anger only begets more anger.

It's either called "an opinion" Or people who just wanted to get a reaction from people like you ...those who think they HAVE to respond and "defend the honor" of a celebrity. Congratulations, you gave them attention
Three years on and the world still celebrates the genius of Robin Williams and mourns his passing. There will never be another like him.
I still cry everytime I watch this. After all these years I miss Robin everyday and I usually I don't even remember famous people's deaths, but this one hit me right on the heart :(...
Robin Williams was such an amazing actor/comedian. He will always be missed.
Cried like a baby at the end there. He will be missed the world over...and beyond.
Oh god 💔 I can't watch this without tearing up. What a remarkable soul Robin Williams was.
It is so sad to think of despite how much joy this man gave to others, he couldn't pull himself out of his own darkness.😢
God I wish I could have met him...but after watching almost everything he ever did I know that he will forever be remembered as one of the most passionate actors ever. Talented falls short of his true ability... amazing is lackluster in definition of his skills... legendary, only falls a million miles short of his true form as an actor and person. I hope and pray that I get to meet him one day amongst the stars and distant shores... R.I.P. OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN.
Man, that last scene just broke me.
I literally grew up watching Robin. RIP...
"welcome to iran, help me" I'm from iran and I still don't believe he's gone 😔 what a great man with such legendary talent One in 7 billion He never died in us
I still watch all of his old movies whenever they come on and even though of watched them multiple time and practically know all the lines and jokes, I still laugh my a** off every time. Miss you Robin.
What an incredible moment by Billy Crystal in honoring the late Robin Williams. I know that I will miss him because I have been his biggest fan since I was a teenager.
God rest you Robin. Peace at last. Prayers for your family.
I cried at the end.... Thank you Billy. Thank you Robin.
The best way that people like Robin can live on is this . . . everytime we have an opportunity to share our humanity through laughter with someone, remember that even if it's difficult to do . . . Robin did it all the time, EVEN when he was in his darkest place.
He's one of those people that is so magnificently beautiful that you'll see stuff with him and have a great time, and only afterwards have the thought" That wonderful man isn't with us anymore. That fantastically wacky man that mad us laugh on every step of his journey and ours, is dead." It's even worse that his life ended the way it did. The fact that he saw no better way....

+JACOB CORCORAN He suffered from dementia, It's not that he saw no other way, his life was literally a living nightmare. He suffered from horrible hallucinations. Do some research on it.

+JACOB CORCORAN he did see a better way. die with memories of loved ones, memories of himself, all intact. who wants to die with no conception of what their life meant to them. if he chose to go with all that in his mind and heart isnt that a sacrifice out of love not out of despair and sadness? sounds like you're blaming him or judging him without knowing the extent of his medical reality. isnt that a little assholeish of you?

+James Show He suffered from dementia? Why do people continue to look for explanations. To say he was depressed is insufficient. We want it to be dementia, or some other more worthy illness. The result was he was so severely depressed he couldn't continue.

+Elizabeth Barry Yes, he had a lifelong history of issues with depression, but he also had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and a specific type of dementia that sometimes accompanies Parkinson's, called Lewy Body Dementia. LBD presents quite differently than Alzheimer's or Vascular dementia and can get pretty nasty. As we all know, he was a very physical presence, from his comedy to his daily life, including elite level biking ( with Lance Armstrong, once upon a time), and IMO I think he could see both his physical and mental health heading into the shitter at lightening speed, and made the decision not to go there. As someone who works in healthcare, and someone who has seen 3 family members die from dementia, I have to say I would choose not to go there, too. RIP Robin -- you were and are a very bright light.

Did anyone ever thought that being spontaneously funny & witty at his level & speed was Robin's ONLY way to drive out the constant depression that was badgering & inflicting him?.. With the onset of dementia, it had probably messed up with his brain further & he felt 'imprisoned' by his own demons aka clinical depression..it got so bad, plus the side effects of certain medications that he was probably on, had finally made him unable & helpless to fight the urge or the voices that instructed him to end it all..Just exactly like his close pal, Christopher Reeve, he was a legend in his own right..the two moulds were broken right after these two were born..they are BOTH irreplaceable till today & for many, many years to come..perhaps till infinity..😔!
