    Nick is really a pleasure to deal with. He was so great with both of my orders and went above and beyond. The lead times took a bit longer than quoted but beyond that there were no issues. 4 HST-18’s in ported boxed in my smallish room are incredible.

    Wow, i watched every second. I really wished his screen could go up to show off the speakers. But, man, this set up is AWEsome. It's nice to see some1 using the same Crown amps i'm using. But i think he would love a direct processor instead of a AVR. Trust me once i went processor i'll Never go back to a AVR no matter how good they are. And this room is All DIY. Which makes it even more special. And that 24 behind the seats, Smh. I thought i was bad and i have two 18 behind my seats. His rack is sweet, but i split mines into two smaller racks for space. His panels are AWEsome as well. All handmade, just Incredible...This proves and like i prove no room is too small for Big Movie sound...I still can't believe them 24's lol - Stay Safe, Be Safe!!!

    Awesome video! Definitely inspired me to DIY some things in my own theater. Curious, is it not common to use pro-audio amps in your HT? What makes the HT power amps different than pro audio? Thanks!

  • @charleskeen31

    @charleskeen31

    Жыл бұрын

    HT amps usually have a few more options for convenience. Auto on/off, clean front panels, quiet fans or no fans at all. PA amps are meant to be bare bones, power only and portable. They also have balanced inputs to help clean up long cable runs and options for linking multiple amps.

    My rack looks similar to Charles'. One of the huge selling points for me on the Crown XLS Drivecore 2's is that they are class D, and extremely efficient with power. I have (7) Crown 1502's, (4) 2502's, (1) 1002, an Epson Projector, my Prepro all running on a single dedicated 15 amp circuit. I rarely pull more than 7 amp. That said I do have extra circuits ran, but haven't seen any reason to need them.

    So there is no screen shake with those speakers behind that? My SI screen does not like my sub behind it. I can see the screen shimmering on the low notes. I love great SPL. If the subs can do wonderfully with 20% of the power, does this mean, you could actually remove or use smaller subs to achieve the same thing? Would love to see the plans on that behind the couch sub frame!

    I’m familiar with Krix and with Tony’s setup. They look cool but I’ve never heard them personally. Klipsch and a few other brands also make a wall of sound as well in their Cinema Series. The turn off for me is Krix subwoofers have a frequency response only down to 25Hz. That’s not ideal for Home Theater. You want something that can go down to at least 20Hz. Klipsch’s wall of sound is rated down to 16Hz which is good. Charle’s Stereo Integrity 24’s will hit single digits. No comparison between them and Krix or Klipsch wall of sound.

    By the time you have soundproofed walls how much space is taken thickness from existing to added soundproofing. Also how much depth of ceiling is required thanks. I have viewed loads of KZreadrs videos and no one tells you this information

  • @charleskeen31

    @charleskeen31

    Жыл бұрын

    For soundproofing, you need to glue additional layers of drywall to the walls with Green Glue sound proofing glue. That will help some. But for proper sound proofing, you need to decouple the room from the house. This is done during construction by building a room within the room, staggered studs or clips and channels. A google search will explain the three processes. Adding insulation to an existing wall, or making the wall thicker for more insulation will not result in sound isolation. Insulation can help a bit with reverberation, but is really only good for thermal insulation.

    @@Youthman Agreed. One question though Mike. Lets say you were doing a new build and wanted to DIY a bit or get a buddy to help diy to save some cash. Would you do an array of 18 inch subs like the dayton or something similar? Like for the price of 1 HS24 you could buy about 5-7x 18s. I wanted the HS24 (dual) but now im thinking its going to be more cost effective and probably get similar performance with an array of 18s.

  • @Youthman

    @Youthman

    Great question. I am not familiar enough with DIY options to know how they perform compared to each other. Subs like Stereo Integrity and JTR are what I consider end game subwoofers. You never have to worry about having upgraditis or having the “what if” syndrome. A lot of guys use the Dayton Ultimax 18, but it’s rated to 19Hz. Stereo Integrity and JTR will easily reach single digits with insane authority. Buy once, cry once.

    If you're asking if the subs effect the way the main speakers move...then no, they do not. Speaker motors are extremely powerful, even small speakers. You couldn't physically stop moving most speakers with your hand if you tried. You could stand on a 18" driver and it would lift you as it played.
