U are soooooo right once I learned my jack life was so much easier, I had to get use to the stickers bit I got it. Also I learned to cheat for my base it's always heavy items & usually 30 or 40 cases I would pick up the whole pallet and take boxes off the pallet

Don't get discouraged when you dump a load. Stacking WILL come to you. Once that happens, productivity will increase. Listen to this guy, he gives excellent tips. From a former dry and perishable selector.

Started my first week picking so decided to search for some tips and found your video. Totally with you on the safety aspect, I see loads of people jumping off while the picking truck is still moving and they don’t always check to see if someone is driving past, if it wasn’t for me being wary of this happening ( I.E by driving past slowly) I would’ve smashed into them. No amount of bonus is worth risking serious injury!

That's a good tip about touching the case one time, sometimes it hard not to worrying about if the stack is gonna build properly but yes it saves time, seconds! Also I will say like when picking meat cases like chicken, if that front slot is empty, and i have quantity picks, ill pick them from that back pallet in the slot, and set them on the front pallet, then go from there to my pallet jack, just to save my back and from walking in and out of that slot grabbing cases because we have to duck down to get into the slot. Our meat aisle is pretty easy to make productivity on lol.

Hey Tim you are absolutely right the most important thing is SAFETY take it from me guys ! I'm currently on my 3rd week and because I was trying to run and pick fast I was being reckless and not paying attention and I ran over my ankle with the jack ! From the pain I honestly thought it was over that I tore or broke something I almost cried thinking I was out of a job and my ability to work and provide. By the grace of God it turned out to be fine I belive that the boots that I wear to work protected my ankle from the jack just completely tearing my ankle.

Blessing man, because I broke my tibia my first time as a selector, can’t explain the accident but I had a open laceration which led to 10 stitches & I was in a boot for year! It was a blessing I didn’t need any surgery, jack had pinned my ankle again the racks… horrible situation but I got up on my own & walked to bathroom to realize I had a deep cut and it was bleeding bad,lol krazy as it sound I still picked 30 more mins until I got off & went to hospital. Be careful guys, it’s a dangerous job but be very aware and careful.

This is so true about breaks a lot of guys don’t understand about when they are struggling on they percentage standards. We all like to go outside and smoke cigarette and chat with friends but keep in mind your time on the headset will automatically continue before you called to continue work if you are coming back late in after break time. That’s like the main reason why most selector especially the new ones don’t know of lol. The minute you called your break on the headset it started right away, so always remember it to come back in at least couple minutes early it will save you time from being late on the headset and it hurt your daily performance.

love the info, just started working as a selctor, I'm going onto my 3rd week of training, I'm hitting 75 percent, my biggest challenge so far was learning the warehouse, coming into week 3 I'm pleased to say that after learning the warehouse I feel the sky is the limt. Next challenge is learning how to keep my cool, work smooth safe and consistent.

Was picking 70% at my first warehouse job 4 years ago. Went to C&s and few others and learned there and became a beast. Went back to the first warehouse recently and I’m picking 170s every day getting top rate. Touching cases twice was the biggest thing for me back then

I’m a new selector at Publix in the frozen food section. Almost everything is boxes so the more experienced selectors are the fastest I’ve ever seen. They know exactly what size boxes are in what aisles. Some average 170% and the most I’ve heard is a 215%. I’ve definitely been watching how they work to get a better understanding.

@@jrock213456 the guys that average 180-200 also stack brick houses man. Cross tying and their pallets are never bulging out the sides. The only way to get like that is to be damn near perfect, every day. Other guys can get close to that but their pallets look like shit, I know you don’t get paid for looks but it’s crazy how the best selectors have both speed and great stacking. I wish I had a go pro to show them to KZread cause it’s a beauty lmao.

I worked at Pepsi as a case picker, there was 2 sides, bulk and route, I was in bulk, we pulled the big orders. Our uph was high, they wanted us at 300 plus per hour, I catch on pretty quick and I'm a bad ass picker, so they wanted 300 I gave em 300, it took me about 3 weeks to get there but the only thing that slowed me down was the isle. No isle has a location, no numbers letters or anything, so you had to pick items based off memory and I didn't like that shit. But once I got a good feel of where everything was I was good, also the main way to get your uph up is big quantities at 1 location, sometimes we had to pull 50 to 60 12 packs at one location, all I did was take the whole pallet and take off the ones I didn't need, work smart not hard, but things like that is what drives your uph up.

The waiting till the isle is clear is something that I'm going to use. That one and one touch rule.I am trying to reach 100 💯.

Work at DC when I was in college im use to it but have to get my body back use to it my 5 day at tom thumb/albertson hitting between 70-80%

Coming back to watch this video reminds me of when I first started selecting 3 months ago. I was worried I wasn't able to hit my percentage because I started out 60%. But slowly after watching your videos and learning the product and finding a system that works I'm now hitting well over 100% without breaking a sweat. Thank you for creating these videos. I want to see more pov picking from you or any selectors. I'd love to see a video using a scanner and labels. I'm not sure how I could record in my warehouse without looking crazy with a gopro on my head. I've seen some but just unsure how to go about recording.

3 weeks in. I got 90% with 1575 cases. But the number one guy had 2441 cases... I need a faster pace and accurate stacking. Just walking my pallet instead of riding it moved my percentages from 75% to 90%.

@@TheWarehouseSeries Each time I move to the other side as I pass the front of the jack I move it forward. So I dont jump on it to move it small distances. It slows down as I grab a case and stops with the back pallet next to me. I'm not really walking in front of it much just accelerating it and letting it stop on its own.

The problem is they give us the absolute smallest product to stack. And a lot of that product is just slightly smaller or slightly larger than the others. To produce a perfect pallet you gone have to shift all the crap on the pallet 100 times unless you just throw cardboard on it time after time. I’d pay to see anyone walk in the door at Publix throwing 100+ after the 3 training days. Especially if they have never selected. Like 90% of the people I trained with have already quit. I’m a very strong willed person so I refuse to quit because I know I can get to the big bucks. But damn this shit is truly a learning process. I’ve never selected and I’m throwing 75-85% after a month. But some days I just don’t even know what tf my problem is it’s demoralizing and major motivation all at the same time. Hell of a job to say the least lol.

@@2CHiLLED. i bet i could come close because i got experience in warehouses pulling inventory to feed factory assembly lines, which is more demanding and i could do all 3 shifts job in just my shift. I start orientation on Monday at a sysco warehouse order selecting, i have total faith in my common sense of how to stack things ha. That and i'll go for my heaviest orders first early in the day. It will definitely take me a few days to memorize the warehouse, but i get to that point and i'll be doing good no doubt as its mostly common sense.

I just want to thank you. I just finished my first week at my new job. Im pulling cases of beer for a beer distributor. 2 days in a row over 1200 cases. Yesterday I was doing 1 pallet at a time on a long jack. Today it was 2 pallets a trip. Eventually I will move up to 3 pallets which is the norm. Anyway Ive been focusing like a laser on getting the pallets built right. Thanks for putting me onto that being a key issue to work on right out the gate.

Exactly,stack a good base and always do your best to square the pallets.

On a busy day during Covid we could get 25-28 pallets. Now just a busy day is 20 pallets

If your a smoker do not abuse breaks. I break up my 2, 15 minute breaks into 4, 7 minute breaks n management has no problem with it because i was up front with it n more importantly, i produce numbers the other's can't. A strong base n memorizing customer orders will save you time, soreness n injury.

You get a 2 step max. You need to be as close as you can, to the product you're picking. If no is behind you switch sides, if your product is on the other side of the aisle. Also no back picking. Do not walk 10 steps behind you to grab a case. If you over shoot your pick slot, back up slowly with your jack. 2 steps, that's all you get.

I couldn’t help but comment on the part where you said if you encounter congestion save your energy don’t be picking cases 15 bays ahead or so. And yeah I get that but why not help your coworkers ahead of you? Build those relationships at work with the other orderfillers and they will do the same!

Honestly it all depends. If I'm running late on the order I'm on I'll call it as soon as I'm done because I don't want to waste anymore time and I'll make it up on next order. If I'm up time on that order I'll wait till I'm ready to start it. Hope that makes sense

@@TheWarehouseSeries yea, if we wasn’t short staffed instead of unloading I would take the packages off the roller then walk with the heave packages to stack them on to their designated cart until the 4 carts are full then use the tugger to drive around the warehouse and drop the packages at their select location on to the conveyor belt to the delivery truck

I jus started to watch your channel I haven’t watched I’m order but I’m this vid I seen u say touch one time but I also so seen on another vid u said something somewhat opposite or u didn’t agree or something of that nature can u clear that up for me. I know u don’t wanna touch it 50 million times but if I haven’t memorized my orders yet then what. Also I’m ok I’m the freezer in dry I should be better after watching your vids but my troubles is in the cooler with the 1 or 2 bags of onions a number of diff sizes and weights. It seems as if I have to walk to the other side of the pallets more often. I may have a bulk of mac n cheeses (35) but I can’t make it my base because I have to go back to a isle because some vets say the jus put a slip sheet over and then put the meat items on top but supervisors say we aren’t supposed to put meats on top. Cooler life 😠😔

So in this particular video I'm giving suggestions on to throw faster. In 95% of the other videos I'm teaching how to build /construct pallets. Once you have your system and can build with no problems the touch once should come into play

The one thing that really bothers me about warehouse work is, people act like you in a fucking prison yard or some shit. You’re a robot that’s not suppose to talk, stop, and they hate when people stand still. If you don’t like micromanaging don’t go into the warehouse business!
