    "Best tips for War Thunder (WT) I ever heard if you did not fly before in some other simulator games or you are IRL pilot tho I do not see why would those play war thunder since it is arcade game for people that never flew a plane or knew anything about them so here it goes : 1* It requires 1 year of gameplay to become an average player. If you think you are not up for it, delete the game right now. 2 *You need to be shot down 2 million+ times to realize how to avoid that and finally learn what you did wrong and what your enemy did right. Adopt that and start to use it, or maybe even improve on it. 3 * Learn aim first, and that is done in arcade, so play lots of arcade until you get good at aiming. Tactics you learn by playing realistic battles and being shot down trillions of times, doing the same mistake over and over until, again, you figure out what you are doing wrong and what your opponent did right. 4 * Stick to just a couple of planes. Remember, even real pilots fly only a couple of planes in battles, so you do the same." As soon as you did this congratulations you are now officially lost so much productive time from your life and are now average WT player welcome to the club! o7

    Hmm when you say a few planes should you only have one category of plane? like two fighters or would you mix it up? Fighter + Bomber etc...

  • @papyrusspaghetti9376

    @@Brandon-bc1fz He probably means a few *types* of aircraft, but not fighter + bomber, which are indeed categories. In this sense, more like P-38, P-47, Bf 109, Fw 190, etc. Be aware of the aircraft's components, however, and be aware of changes across the types (the letters and numbers after the type, usually). For example, P-38E and P-38G are very similar, P-38L and P-38J are different but still similar, but the P-38K (hidden premium) plays totally different and is often awkward. Another, even better example is Fw 190 A/F being virtually identical across variants, whereas the Fw 190 D is totally different, hosting an inline engine rather than an air-cooled radial and are more maneuverable. Same thing AGAIN with the Bf 109. The Bf 109 A, B, and E variants are all similar in their playstyle, being somewhat good at turning but are overall energy fighters. Later models, such as the F and G do not turn as well, but receive even better climb rates and improved speed. From G-6 on and the K variant, additional improvements are given in the case of firepower, and are a little (but not by much) tankier than their earlier versions. However, similar to the Fw 190 and the P-38, there is a hidden variant which plays completely different, this being the Bf 109 Z, which is more boom and zoom (given it has 4x 30mm cannons) rather than an energy fighter.

    Good guide. I have 20,000+ Air RB kills and my advice is 'fly to not die'. If you stay alive you'll probably get more points and kills as the skies thin out of fighters. Even the very best pilots will struggle when outnumbered by a swarm of 3 or more enemies. Don't bother with head to head kills. Although sometimes you have no choice, if you can avoid it do so and get yourself in a better position. Also don't fight at a disadvantage. Disengage if you can and, you guessed it get yourself in a better position. Apart from some very basic manoeuvres like an Immelman or Split S don't try to learn air combat manoeuvres and then 'force' them into your game. Every dogfight is different. You have to learn to fly instinctively and the best way to do that is just to try, try and try again. It's an unforgiving environment and there is no fast way to learn except experience. I also realise players want to get on to the better aircraft as soon as possible but I recommend flying at low tiers for as long as possible so you can pick up air combat skills. I usually fly an aircraft about 30 times in Air RB before I move on to the next aircraft. It's very important to build up a knowledge of the capability of your own and enemy aircraft and if you fly the same aircraft over and over again you will learn everything about it....which will come in handy later on when you meet an enemy flying the same aircraft. One last thing. Use the C key a lot! Always scan behind you, above you, below you, to the sides. Good luck, stick with it and you will get better.

We both use boom and zoomers so we fly high at the start of the match, then he goes in (goes down) to engage the enemy then right as he reaches him ill start going down, and he attacks the enemy from the back while I attack him from the top and it almost always guarrentees a free kill.

    Thanks for this. I’ve been playing a while and I agree with every one of your points and it’s good to be reminded of the basics. I would like to add two things - 1. Prioritise fighters. For #9 in this list, the author went for a fat attacker. Not only, as demonstrated, did this involve tunnel vision but it left enemy fighters with more energy (higher and or faster). Going for the fat boys may get you a kill. Or on occasion, two. But you are depriving your team of a specialist fighter meaning your team is at a disadvantage. Sure, if that BTD flies in front of your guns, by all means, oblige him with some hot lead and high explosive, but if you need to slow down, lose energy or otherwise take your eye off the enemy fighters chances are much higher that you’ll have a target on your back and your team will lose. Deal with the fighters first, as a rule of thumb unless you are in an actual interceptor with an air spawn heading for spam/annoying bombers like the JU288, and you’ll get more wins and learn to dogfight so much better than peppering some fat boi who can’t do anything about it. And if you’re team has all done this (no guarantee there) you’ll be able to pick off the fatties afterwards, one by one without worrying about a P47 or 190 zooming down on you from a great height. Which brings me nicely to my second point - the best tactics and the best skill come from practice. I understood many of the points in this video from reading and watching tutorials quite early on. But I found it frustrating to apply. I knew what I should do, but often only after I was a fireball heading for the ground. I’m no super ace but I do alright now, especially considering my age, reflexes and eyesight. I have fun. I don’t count such things usually, but my K/D is above 2:1. Not that impressive but enough to make playing fun. And that’s not always easy in War Thunder. I got there by just playing and once I’d stopped caring about losing or being shot down, I could just go into game after game and slowly get better. Slowly learn how to apply the theory in this vid. It’s a cliche, but the only way to ‘git gud’ (urrrgh) is to do it. Again and again. Then like most things, and from what lots of other people have told me as well as my own experience, it clicks. Even after ages on a plateau of shit performance, suddenly the light appears over the crest of a hill and you’re having fun. And for free, here’s a bonus point 2b - if you’re having a truly bad day, as in bad compared to usual for you, shut the programme down. Gaijin’s business model is monetised frustration so if your performance is particularly frustrating that day, just stop. Pick it up again later, or tomorrow. Your mental health will thank you.

    I've got over 400 hours in this game, and it is just now that I learned your convergence matters even with nose mounted cannons. I thought it didn't matter and they just went straight either way, since there's no overlapping to worry about. Edit: after playing a game of realistic in my F-5C, I actually got 2 kills, the first being with my cannons, no less! Learning that the distance is still at play changed how I look at aiming in air RB. I was always an arcade player until rank 5 for awhile. I've only been playing RB because it doesn't make sense for me to play arcade in a 10.0 br (10.3 for RB) when my next best jet is the F-86F at I think 8.3 br. At that, I've only been at it a few weeks.

    The other thing is, Try to also prioritize defending your friendly bombers in ARB, ESPECIALLY if you're in a maneuverable Interceptor, or Heavy attacker. Being up there and defending you bombers allows them to complete the objective and win the game faster than actually targeting opponents. If the bombers go down, the whole team goes down as I like to say. The other thing is, Don't be afraid to Turn Tail and run from an opponent. Sure they may get more energy than you and/or speed, But if they're an inexperienced, or less than average player, they will overshoot past you and if they miss shots, you now have a chance to take them down. Lastly, pay attention to how many players there are on screen, and where they are. You don't want to be directly under anyone, directly over anyone, or close to anyone near you. You want to be in a spot that allows for a 1v1 altercation, and let them be the initiator. If they come at you, you'll have to maneuver to get away from their nose, or to get behind them. And if you turn fight anyone, don't spray and pray, tap as little as possible, a small 1 second burst after every second your nose is in front of your target. Once you start getting those consistent "hit" anouncements, then spray (For those with machine guns like the 7.7-7.62mm machineguns) until your opponent goes down, or (if you got 20mm cannons or stronger ones) keep doing 1 second sprays until you get that fire on the wings/engine, or you rip a wing off, OR knock out the pilot.

    I'm still trying to get into this game and these vids have been more than a little helpful. I love dogfights but its been a pill getting used to controls. When I roll over it sucks having to "fight" the plane wanting to go back to the neutral position sometimes. Been mostly stickign to arcade for the moment. REalistic battles take a while to get into combat and even faster to get out...the amount of play time vs the reward seems to balance out between RB and AB by virtue of volume Now if you could do a video on controls in a bit more detail, like, my current setup i think fires all my guns at once instead of seperating my cannons from machine guns

    Hi. And thanks. :) Happy to help! Like it's said at the beginning: bind small and large guns to different mouse buttons. Some planes also have "additional guns". Like gun pods. I bound them on my mouse's thumb button 2 (Razer Deathadder).

    If you use your free look key (mine is C, I don’t remember if this is the default) to move the camera view beyond 180 degrees from straight front (I think it’s 180) and centre but keep your finger on the free look key the ‘instructor’ no longer tries to make the plane fly straight and level. It’s one of the basic mechanics that it seems isn’t communicated very well by Gaijin (Gaijin not caring about the well being of its customers? Tell me it ain’t so!) but is absolutely essential to being able to fly efficiently. If you don’t do this, you will be fighting the instructor every time you want to do something interesting, as you have explained. You can also switch off the instructor but there are so many situations where the instructor helps out that everyone I know just uses this ‘pause the instructor’ mechanic when they want to turn more and with more control.

    Thanks. Oof, that'll be a wall of text. Short: US BnZ good and hit hard, UK turns and climbs, Japan turns even better, Germany BnZ/energy, Soviet Bnz/energy. But that's veeeeery basic. There are so many different planes and variations within each nation's lineup - you can't really generalize anything.

    How do you determine if a plane is boomer, energy or turn? What about the ones kinda in between?

  • @WatchMysh

    @WatchMysh

    2 жыл бұрын

    If it's weighty and has a big fat engine it usually is a BnZ plane. Light planes with large wing areas usually turn well. Planes with an optimal power to weight ratio are usually good at energy fighting/energy trapping. But it all comes down to many different factors in the end like I said in the vidoe - you need to treat each plane individually. Sometimes a plane COULD be a good BnZ plane but its control surfaces compress a lot at high speed which means you can't maneuver anymore. So sorry if I repeat myself one more time: ;) every plane is different. Still: based on the engine/weight/wing area ratios you can make a slighty educated guess. The War Thunder forums and wiki really help for further information.
