I recently found this bit of stop motion animation I created back when I was about 12 years old. I had been experimenting with my Mom's 8mm movie camera, as it had single shutter control, which allowed for stop motion animation. There was a contest at a local movie theater to produce a short movie, and so I put this together. Micronauts were my favorite toys as a kid, they were real big just before Star Wars toys hit the shelves and then disappeared shortly thereafter.
The lighting is terrible. I filmed a lot more than what you can see here, but so much of it was so poorly lit that nothing shows up. There were sequences of the bad guys, Baron Karza & Acroyear, inside their mountain base, that were cut. I salvaged what I could of the opening, where I tried to shoot the arriving spaceship's pov.
The set is a papier-mache mountain & sand, with sheets as the background. The inside of the mountain was used for the set for the bad guys. I scratched the film for the special effects, with a sparkler for the pyrotechnics at the end. The music and sound effects were added just prior to uploading to help make it more tolerable to watch.
