The best thing I found to release the PF muscles and thus relieve PF pain and issues is to process through the underlying stress/anxiety/trauma that is the root cause. Easier said than done, but there are ways, all of them similar in the sense that one must first accept the pain/symptoms and stop the thinking or "this must go away" etc. (that is not to say methods like this video do not help)

Thank you so much for making this information available on KZread. I wouldn't have known pelvic physio existed if I hadn't found your channel. I even asked a doctor (who claimed such people do not exist), and an OBGYN (who told me pelvic physios are only for women who have given birth). My urologist was the only one who agreed pelvic physio could be very useful for pelvic floor dysfunction. Due to the COVID-19 shutdowns I'm unable to go to see a pelvic physio so these videos are helpful in the meantime. Many thanks 💕

I'm glad you found us Emma. There's a huge amount of US pelvic health physios providing online consultations at the moment. Try physio works in Canada www.physioworksmuskoka.com/about-us or Entropy physio in Chicago as a start.

I had a kidney stone removed and ended up with chronic pelvic pain. They first told me I had developed none bacterial prostatitis chronic pelvic pain syndrome. First urologist said my prostate was fine but the muscles around it are really tight! Second urologist said I had prostatitis chronic pelvic pain syndrome and there's nothing we can do it's poorly understood. Now they are telling me I have hypotonic pelvic floor. I have pain in my scrotum my bladder my anus my perineum my lower back and pain down my inner thighs. THIS CONDITION IS HORRIBLE!!!! I'm losing all hope!! This condition has seriously affected my quality of life😞

Hi Jilly; thanks for this video. I've been suffering from pelvic pain for over 7 years now and I have been making some good progress after finally getting it diagnosed properly by a pelvic floor therapist last year. Breathing and relaxing have really helped a lot so far and searching for new tips I found your video. I was wonder about what you said in this video at around 2:45. You say: “you should feel the pelvic floor relax downwards” and if I understand you right one should feel this while breathing in. Do you mean that one should try to really actively relax the pelvic muscle while breathing in and after that try to pull it up a little while breathing out? I notice I receive a feeling over relaxation doing both what you advice and the reverse (relaxing while breathing out), but I want to make sure I use the technique correctly. Thanks for your work and greetings from Holland.

You keep mentioning in different videos for viewers to watch a different video of yours if we don't understand this one, yet you don't include a link, so it's impossible without watching every single one of your videos to know which one we should watch, e.g. "if you don't understand what a pelvic floor is, then watch....." Please put a link in your description boxes to make it easier to follow.

I think I have a hypertonic pelvic floor, kegels make me sore and i get pain near my pubic bone. I have urge incontinence and prolapse symptoms. Do I still need to do kegels or just relax my pelvic floor?

Yea I think I have the same thing. Used to do a lot of abs exercise. And started leaking. Kegel seemed to made it worst. I am just stretching and practice breathing and not trying to do Kegel

@@revanite i have started hypopressives, it helps with pelvic floor and lifting, so far so good, and still works your pelvic floor more naturally. I definately feel more lifted and less prolapse symptoms. I was the same, after 3 kids I wanted to try and regain my strong abs, sits ups caused me a prolapse! After 4th child now and I think kegels are fine but we need to relax as well. I think I was overdoing it. It takes a while, but this urgency had been quite bad for 18 months. I find that since concentrating on relaxing and meditation the urgency is less and I have also cut out sugar. Made a real difference but still early days. I am now doing kegels again but in moderation with relaxing before and after.

I got this as well, kegels made me so much worse. my muscles are hypertonic and when i relax it feels like everything is falling out but its just your brain tricking you because everything is used to being held tight and when you relax you feel like your organs are falling out but they are not

Do you relax the pelvic floor on the inbreath ?🤔or have I misunderstood? Cause it feels weird for me . I’ve learnt to do it on the outbreath, feels more natural.
