After drawing with top of the table Chesham United, the Geordies were looking to grab a result against another high-flying side. This time in the form of play-off chasing Walton & Hersham.
Hanwell took the lead in rather bizarre circumstances, Jensen Wright's freekick found it's way to Swan's defender Connor Avenell who turned it into his own net with ex-Wycombe keeper Tyla Dickinson rooted to his line. Geordies keeper Sam Beasant was in fine form against the side from Surrey, but he was unable to keep out Johl Powell's effort from inside the box. Things were not finished there as Hanwell were awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute for what appears to be a shove in the box, the spot-kick was calmly slotted away by Sam Evans for Hanwell's winner and his 14th of the season. Deep into added time Walton & Hersham were reduced to 10-men after Joe Pratley-Jones was shown a second yellow for dissent (this wasn't captured on our cameras).
The Town have a mid-season break next week before attempting to play Plymouth Parkway for a third time at the Powerday Stadium on Tuesday the 12th of March.
