It seems to be great deal ! Even though it's a post war it's still a p38. And the fact that yours was in near mint condition is a cherry on the cake !

I bought one from Atlantic Firearms. After 16 rounds, all good! I then loaded 2 more rounds, and magazine broke, shooting its base plate and spring at me.

Yikes! Well, you never know what will happen with older guns. Hopefully they sent you a replacement mag! Fun shooting pistols.

All you do is cost me money. Will definitely have to pick one up. I always have good luck directly from Century as well.

Do you do any gunsmithing? Or do you know any good gunsmiths in the Detroit area? I have 12 guns and they are all shooting low and to the left

I have 1958 P38 and it came with a spare P1 mag that didn't want to work with mine. It would not allow a round to chamber...

Thats a bummer. I've used a few P1 mags and have had no problems on my end. Are the feed lips bent?

People are saying you shouldnt get one of these they will crack is that true? I sold my war time one and miss it so much but dont want to pay the price feel like this is a good way to go

The aluminum frame is less durable than steal but, if you don't use hot loads (+P or hallow points) you should be fine. Like any Aluminum frame just to be too hard on it. That being said, I definitely plan to shoot mine. At these prices, it is a good pick up these days if you want another one. As we know, they wont be around forever. Good luck!

The modest premium for the better condition looks to have been worth it, appears to be in noticeably nicer shape than the generally good one I got.

I’ve been enjoying your videos, I have a question in regards to C&R license, do you feel is a good thing what are the pros and cons? Have you ever been inspected? On the log do you need have all of your firearms listed? Your feedback would be appreciated

Hi Mario. Good question. Overall, for me, its been great. It depends on what type of collector you are. It has saved me many hundreds of dollars and the convenience factor is huge. Pros: Saves transfers fees, extremely convenient shipping direct. Cons: Easy to spend lots of $. There is always the possibility of inspection, but since I keep good records (I'm a document junky) and everything is above board, Im not worried if I have to. Honestly, the biggest CON is its easy to spend more money. All that being said, it depends on the individuals circumstances and what works best for their needs. For me, its been a HUGE positive. PS: Great patch, is that unit a dependent from the La Fayette Escadrille?

I thought they might have some linage back to the WWI American volunteer fighter pilots with a similar logo. My Father did some work with the 2nd in Korea. Hooah! @@mario3804

You never mentioned what your date of manufacture is. I got a 3/61 from Centerfire Systems. A little more worn than yours.

So interestingly enough, this does not have a date on the slide. I seen a few like this but I guess I'll have to do some more digging with the serial number to see if I can track down a date of manufacture. Thanks for watching and I hope yours is turns out to be a good shooter!

I enjoy it and thats what matters (to me). The post-war P-38's are more of a collectable inmy opinion as this is the (what I call) the V1 of these aluminum frames.
