Like those movements. Very nice. What opened my eyes a bit extra. That the centre wheen is casted with profiled spokes!!

I would use "sturdy, yet elegant" to describe American pocket watches. Their tick is hypnotic.

Question. What is the purpose of the sliding piece that runs parallel to the winding/setting gear mechanism? It slides up and down and manually engage the gears. Why is it necessary? When re-assembly does it need to be in a particular setting, ex. raised to allow engaging the crown & castle wheels? Thanks.

Approximately what year is this watch from? It looks very nice for it's age.
