yes. providing public information for people to read and do what they will with is market manipulation. brokers shutting down buying of certain stocks because you are not a part of the institutional wall-street fund managers is certainly not.

WSB posters have NEVER recommended that people buy Gamestop stocks on margin because it allows the brokerages to loan out their stocks. The prevailing opinions have been to buy what you can afford with cash only and turn off loans of your shares. This entire thing is ENTIRELY the fault of criminals in hedge funds who short sold 140% more shares than exist in the float. It's criminal malpractice from the hedge funds, not the people who figured out how to make money on this.

Congrats, since Gamestop crashed again to $40 or $50 last week, you helped the hedgefunds profit, by shorting MORE from $350 all the way down to $50, and you helped the bankers who had lent to Gamestop and AMC Theaters, because a bankruptcy court will negotiate and give you about 50 cents per share, and let the lenders (banks) keep the other $199.50 of a share you'd bought at $200, as the assets of theaters (real estate, digital film projectos, etc) are sold-off during bankruptcy, and given to the BOND holders, banks (lenders/financiers), and other asset holders, before the stock holders during any and all bankruptcies in the USA; LEARN THE LAW, dopey.

Genuine question: why buy stocks that are being shorted? If a stock is being shorted it's value is expected to drop unless there's a concerted effort to squeeze the short. No?

@@Ben-nk3le Under normal circumstances yes. But leverage is zero because borrowing costs are so low. Also, a short squeeze drives the stock price up when the borrowers have to buy back the stock to cover their positions which creates a circular mechanism that keeps driving up the price.

I hope it does too, but it most likely wont. They'll nip this in the bud pretty quickly. There will be deregulation, reregulation, rule changes, stipulations enforced, smear campaigns. There is no way they will let this slide. But the crack in the armor has been discovered, and the average joe is getting bolder and smarter. This is just the beginning.
