Wall of weird vintage electrical and electronic clocks new year flip

We had a pretty low key new year's eve at home this time, so we chilled next to the wall of clocks around midnight. We’ve got some heady clock company in there, including a cesium clock, a flown Soyuz clock and a giant vintage Solari flip clock. Happy New Year 2024 to you all.

This is why Buzz Aldrin wears 3 watches. If he had 2, he’d never be sure which one was running fast. With 3, he takes the time as the one at least 2 agree on!

I went looking to see if I could get one like it... Good news: Yes, there's one for sale on eBay. Bad news: It's $400.
Regarding the "Solari" clock, the "Udine" refers to the town in north-eastern Italy where the company was (maybe still is?) based. It's pronounced something like "Oo-din-eh". I love your channel - even though it makes me realise how little I know about so many things! Happy 2024 - or, if you prefer, MMXXIV !

They're still in business there, making mainly modern boards for train stations and airports, now all digital but quite hardened

They're still in Udine but have a maintenance facility in NYC - the subway station departure displays hanging from the ceiling (.... In 4min) are from Solari.

Oh, good catch! I had to go back to find it. After all those signal generators, it’s nice to spot a proper synth in the lab. (Of course even cooler would be to somehow link them together… not sure if any Junos came with a built in audio input for the VCF and VCA!)
